Arg, looks like this thread has hit the large thread bug that plagues the Picture Of Me Thread and others. Feel free to bump if the last page says "No posts exist for this topic."

^^

Pfft... I smell counterfeit website just like the deconstruction pics of Top Thrill Dragster. That is obviously a government run webpage sent forth to spew lies into the American public. I'm sad that it has convinced some of you that it contains truthful information.

Interesting.

It almost looks like they've run out of room at the end of the launch for now. (until the offseason when they can do some clever moving of wave swinger and white water canyon.

Though then again, it's hard to get an exact scale and positioning from pictures.

Interesting.

Look, there's room enough. It's heading right over the jumping shark pond!

That angle makes it a bit more clear. Though it still looks like they might have to move the line for white water canyon. At least to make room for construction equipment.

Then again, weekend operation is only a few days away, so these details are going to become less of a problem then.

Sorry, off topic again. Don't know how roller coaster construction keeps getting in the way of shark chat.

How is that off topic? This is a CP constuction thread, I think.

This *is* severly offtopic, indeed! Despite this is titled a CP constuction thread, the majority of interests focus on way more important topics. I am well aware that with any remark on bare facts, with posting construction pics, or even bluntly discussing technical aspects, I'd take the risk of seriously interrupting the ongoing flow. There are moments where a pic like this might be even taken as offensive and insulting.

With now 217 pages, there are approximaly 200 pages of essential comments on life, and only about 10-20 actually related to some boring CP stuff. These numbers must speak for themselves.

Hence my humble excuse.

EDIT ADD:

Edit: Aquatrax.

Sorry folks, I almost forgot:

My wife and I will be at the Po!nt next year. Whatever this thing turns out to be, one thing's for sure....if it comes from Cedar Point, it HAS to be good.

I just wonder how much longer they're going to keep teasing us???

It's for magnetic breaks, like those on a launch section. But this thing under the track is for holding up the up-down-mechanism under a 2-tube track. For people who know KingdaKa very well: after the bunnyhop, right before the turn towards the stations.

and what would a little nooblet like yourself know about all this? SO TOTALLY KIDDING.

Actually, thats a pretty good idea of what its for. I was first thinking it was to hold the little flywheel on the launches, you know the one that like springs back when the train launches? But your idea sounds like it would be more legitimate.

Ok, this is NOT CONFIRMED, but here is a bit of speculation that was posted at "Screamscape":

(9/1/06) A Screamscape source has decided to spill the beans today all about Maverick. First off the ride and train may be themed as an old train ride, using several smaller trains instead of one train. In fact the trains may only hold 12 riders total and only three cars long. It will also be Cedar Point’s first use of the new Intamin shoulder restraint system they’ve been using on their other launched coasters lately. It also seems that the two part rumor I had months ago will also be true, where the ride will climb an LSM lift hill that stands only about 107 feet tall, pass over the top to a beyond vertical 95º angle and then drop to the ground into the first segment of the ride. As the ride approaches the station again, it will enter a tunnel directly under the station and lift hill where it will encounter a LSM booster train that will shoot the train out of the tunnel at 70 mph to complete the rest of the 4150 feet of track that will include a third inversion, a very low to the ground heartline spin. Our source wasn’t quite sure, but there also seemed to be a near-inversion element near the very end of the ride that was described as an “exaggerated Stengel dive”. Speaking of which, apparently Maverick will be the 500th coaster designed by Werner Stengel. The final cost is said to be around the $21 million mark.

If that's true... I dunno, doesn't really peak my interest too much at this point. It's like The Italian Job with a "Eurofighter"-esque drop.

Guess we'll find out soon how accurate this is.

Was just about to post that

Sounds interesting! Liking the 95 degree angel drop! And the mid section boost sounds like it could be alot of fun!
