rcjp Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 ^Raptor is pretty impressive too, after 20 years.

coasterbill Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Those are always fun to look at... Here are the 2013 numbers for the nerds like me that want to compare. Of course Millennium Force has the most rides. Gatekeeper has the most riders.
nicman Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 ^Oops, I just saw millennium Force at the bottom of the table, I'll make sure to read carefully next time. I am kinda surprised that Gatekeeper got the most riders, I was sure that Millennium Force was going to get the most riders.
Password121 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 ^Gatekeeper can be dispatched a good bit quicker than Millennium Force. Even with the cable lift, 6,600 feet of track with no mid course vs. less than 4000 feet on Gatekeeper before the mid course makes a difference. Also, MF can't drop off the lift until the previous train pulls into the unload station. It all adds up, not to mention Gatekeeper is new (and has a crapload of attendants. It's insane how many people run Gatekeeper).
Superbatboy Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 So I'm guessing TTD's numbers aren't higher because of downtime etc ?
Password121 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 ^Short trains and tons of downtime. It closed due to gray clouds in the area, before rain even arrives (in my experience). It was down at least six hours the three days I went last summer.
MagnumFreak25 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 It is down a lot but the main problem is that it has the lowest capacity of all the coasters in the park. It really can't get much higher than that.
gp1086 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Man -- I haven't been here in years. Need to plan another trip to Sandusky. Do they still serve those cinnamon sugar covered elephant ears? Skyhawk remains arguably my favorite flat.
Mossed Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 That list is not at all shocking. I know, I personally ride GateKeeper more than any of the other coasters in the park per visit. It also has extremely good capacity. This is why Cedar Point wants another B&M. In 2016 it might go GateKeeper, MF, Dive Machine, Raptor, Rougarou..
chargersmichael Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I also feel like GateKeeper has more riders because a lot of people want to ride it twice...riding on the other side of the wings. For instance, when I went last year...I would ride the front row on one of the wings and them the back row on the other wing.

I think Magnum or Gemini would probably be up there two. They both have ridiculous capacities too.
coasterbill Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 So I'm guessing TTD's numbers aren't higher because of downtime etc ? Dragster and Maverick suffer greatly from low capacity. Dragster is also not open for early entry so most of these other coasters are open for an average of 1 extra hour every day which adds up over the course of the season I'm sure. Also... Dragster was closed for an entire week around Coastermania and breaks down all the time like you mentioned. It also goes down for wind and rain a lot (though Raptor and Gatekeeper do too). The only other things that jump out on the list are that the Sky Ride is the 7th most popular ride in the park despite closing for pretty much all of Halloweekends due to wind so good for them, and Power Tower's numbers took a (ahem) huge drop between last year and this year. We probably ride those 2 rides more than any other rides in the park... Sky Ride because it's a nice ride and it's functional and Power Tower because it never has a line so whenever we pass it, we ride it.
thrillrider Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 The part of the list that I find interesting, is that Iron dragon had more riders that TTD even though iron dragon closes early every night for luminosity.
MagnumFreak25 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Not all that surprising, It has much better capacity, and with TTD's downtime it probably is open for longer.
ImNotOneOfYou Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 How many people per hour is considered a good capacity?
KarlaKoaster Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 The part of the list that I find interesting, is that Iron dragon had more riders that TTD even though iron dragon closes early every night for luminosity. Is it because Iron Dragon's audience is bigger as it's not only just thrillseekers who would want to ride it but families too?
thrillrider Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Not all that surprising, It has much better capacity, and with TTD's downtime it probably is open for longer. I could be wrong, but didn't they only run 2 trains on iron dragon this past summer?
Password121 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Sorry to switch the topic here, but if you have some spare time, check out Coaster-net's newest video titled "Cedar Point's Five Year Plan." I don't know that I agree with all of it, but there was some very interesting info that I hadn't heard before (apparently Tony Clark mentioned something about this year's winter chill out in 2014).

ajfelice Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I never heard anything about that but I feel like I saw it running 3 trains sometimes Iron Dragon was a two-train coaster throughout 2014. The third train was not even in storage underneath the station. Even without the third train, Iron Dragon is still an exceptionally good coaster for capacity. Simple restraints with no seat belts + all loose articles must ride in the train = fast dispatches.
MagnumFreak25 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Never even noticed that last year. Was there ever a reason given for that?
firewalk13 Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Iron Dragon can definitely hold it's own capacity-wise. I have to agree that the simple restrain adds a bit to that. It's also nice because you can take a small bag or something similar with you. They will usually be fine with you're putting it on the floor.
JWAddington Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Man -- I haven't been here in years. Need to plan another trip to Sandusky. Do they still serve those cinnamon sugar covered elephant ears? Skyhawk remains arguably my favorite flat. Yes, they still have all that sugar and cinnamon yummyness!

Much is said about B&M's capacity but I think Arrow wrote the book on it
