crazyrider06 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Again i say this, i cant wait to ride Maverick. It's always nice to ride a coaster that you havent been on yet..You never know what's gonna come next because you havent ridden it a bunch of times
XII Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Maverick looks awsome! Just 6 more months until I get to ride.
RedB Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 ^No no, it's the Spring 'Lift Launch'! I thought it was the 'Launch Lift'. Now I'm all confused.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 OooOoOOO.....work underneath the heartline spin! The rocky theming?
Scaparri Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Seriously, not to come off sounding like a fanboy, but as for what I look for in a ride, this looks like the perfect coaster. It has everything... a super steep drop, a high speed launch, what appears to be a few heavy doses of airtime, high banked turns, crazy and intense looking inversions, extremely quick, out-of-control transitions, and even some decent theming. I'm so pumped for this ride. I can't wait to ride it in May. I just hope I don't set myself up too much for anticipointment. Even if it's not as good as I hope, kudos to CP for finally getting off their record kick.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I think I was underestimating this ride before, yea, it does seem like the perfect coaster with almost every element, but every element is taken to the best it can be; so much airtime; new inversions...this does look like a "Must ride during your lifetime" coaster to me
robbalvey Posted January 29, 2007 Author Posted January 29, 2007 I really think this will be a very 'good' coasters - but I'm not expecting it to be the be all end all "perfect" coaster. I think if you set your expectations around a "faster, more intense version of California Screamin'" you'd be right on! --Robb
Scaparri Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Yeah, I would definitely agree its not the end all be all coaster, for sure. It just reminds me of the kind of ride I would dream of, so I think of it as being perfect in concept. I just hope it delivers. Not necessarily looking for it to be a new #1. Just hopin' for a stellar ride.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Well, yes...I dont know if there will ever be a 'perfect' coaster, but yes, this will be very very good.....CA Screamin' does look really good with the hills and helixes....the airtime hills towards the end looks awesome
Real Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Im just looking for a ride that delivers several unique feelings that when you come off gives you more than one thing to talk about. Then, it has to do those things very well. If it accomplishes that, its a success IMO. And I think it will because the drop and heartline roll cant disappoint.
PKI Jizzman Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 The thing that I am most worried about it coming down the 1st drop and into right into that turn...looks like you might slam your head....other than that, the hill coming out of the launch looks like it might have some floater airtime, but I dunno....
jamesdillaman Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^You'll be fine, this is an intamin steel coaster, not Hercules. -James "Ow" Dillaman
Dailey Enterprizes Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I like it that Cedar Point continues to build coasters, but I'm wondering about the capacity for Maverick. I'm guessing it's going to be like TTD opening season wait times all over again.
viking86 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^You'll be fine, this is an intamin steel coaster, not Hercules. -James "Ow" Dillaman Hey Colossus at Thorpe Park left me in more pain than any Vekoma coaster I have ridden But this ride wont hurt at all. Your arms/shoulders might get a bit bruised if you ride with your arms up thanks to the OTSR, but headbanging is impossible with those restraints unless you are very short. Intamin has built some coasters with insanely tight transitions lately and they dont hurt at all, so I wouldnt be worried.

It's nothing record setting. I would expect a three hour line at the most.
Carnage Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I like it that Cedar Point continues to build coasters, but I'm wondering about the capacity for Maverick. I'm guessing it's going to be like TTD opening season wait times all over again. Remeber that TTD was a new technology that was being pushed twice as hard as had been attempted before. So no wonder that they had so much problems with it. Maverick is 1/4 the size of TTD, and is using much more established technology. So I wouldn't expect nearly as much problems as TTD did. Plus they are going to have alot more time to test it before opening with them building it so much earlier.
BeemerBoy Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^ It's already been tested. Wes has video evidence.
Carnage Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^ Yeah, I've seen that video. Didn't the train derail on the 1st launch??
PhishyBrewer Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^ Yeah, I've seen that video. Didn't the train derail on the 1st launch?? What?!
matteocrepaldi Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Just thought the same... I WANT TO SEE THAT VIDEO TOO!
Dailey Enterprizes Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Oh alright, I was just expecting long waits because of the shorter trains and such, but if there aren't any major problems with it then it won't be so bad. I don't know about the derailment though...
DarkStitch626 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 ^ Yeah, I've seen that video. Didn't the train derail on the 1st launch?? Ahhhh!! Its Final Destination 3! LOL!..I still think this ride has to be what 1 week ahead of schedual?
PKI Jizzman Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Two things I see diferent in this picture today... 1 - somthing on the lift 2 - work on the launch tunnel EDIT - nice...I forgot the pic
