So the soak city entrance would still by far be the closest to Maverick.

The marina gate was where you would go to get to MF the fastest when it opened, so I assumed it would also be close to Maverick?

 

I'm almost thinking it might be about equidistant? Come on CP Fanboys, give me a map and prove me wrong!

My vote is for SC entrance.

 

I also think the map is a little deceiving, I think the trek through the main midway, Under MF and through Frontiertown is alot longer than it appears on the map.

Can anyone access the soak city entrance or do you have to be staying at the nearby hotel? Out of the 4 times I've been to CP I've gone through the maingate, never even considered my alternate options.

Fine I'll play into being a "fanboy" but it's more because I worked there.

 

Soak City gate is definitely the closest. It's where I parked when I worked on White Water Landing in 2000. It's a pretty quick walk past Gemini across the tracks and past Stockade and Chuck Wagon Inn, then cut to your left right past Antique Cars.

Anyone can access that entrance. Although you have to go to the resort/Soak City lane when parking and drive around perimeter road. Just tell them you're going to Soak City (or Hotel Breakers if SC isn't open yet) when they ask where you're heading.

Dunno if anyone's noticed, but the 2nd part of Maverick's Topping Off has been completed, the last piece of the lift (err...not lift) has gone into place.

The first LSM launch looks so "non steep". Must be because the first drop is beyond vertical.

 

*Edit, the lift/launch is about halfway done! Looks alot more like the normal steepness of a lift hill now that more track is in place.

I hadn't seen anyone mention it before (and sorry if it has been), but one of the coolest part of Maverick will be waiting in the station. Check the POV. You can see the train below enter the tunnel through the station tracks. So every 45 seconds or so, a screaming train is gonna run through the station, you'll be able to see and hear it.

Yes, Im sure you'll be able to see the train stop before the launch, and Im sure you'll be able to hear the launch, Im just afraid you wont be able to SEE the launch itself, Which is a major part of the thrill and anticipation of TTD. Im not sure on if I like that or not.

If u look Maverick on the CP webcam , u can see the lift hill that is nearlly completed>

I'm surprised they've just gone ahead and done the entire lift hill with all the work they have to do with the launch track below (electronics, building, etc.) I thought it would be easier to get all the final details worked out there before adding supports and track above... No complaints here though, this thing's coming up nice and quick!

I wonder if the fact that theres a new coaster in the back of the park will get more people on Mean Strreak. I believe Cedar Point said Mean Streak had more riders than TTD last year .

^considering the downtime, that wouldn't surprise me. Besides, the GP don't know that coaster as well as we enthusiasts do.
