Adriel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 OK, many of you will discuss BEST THEME PARK or BEST ROLLER COASTER. But I wanna ask you guys something different. What is the MOST BEAUTIFUL coaster you've ever ridden? Well, I think I like THUNDER DOLPHIN. The texture of the whole track is really beautiful and it has very nice view of TOKYO at the top.
Rollerholden Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 CA Screamin' at DCA Magnum XL-200 at CP. I liked being right on the beach like that.
steel Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Good question... Patriot at night is beautiful - the white stripe seems to glow, and the lights make it look like a long string of peppermint. Millennium Force also looks very nice. Mean Streak is always pretty with the lake in the background. The coasters at Valleyfair are always lit up well - Skyscraper was a little better at night. Villain looks really nice. Too bad it isn't. Thunderhawk at GL also looks great. IMO, Big Dipper has lost a lot of its beauty now that there's a clogged up wave pool next to it. Thunderhawk at DP! I forgot about that! It's so pretty in that walkway through the trees.
RRollergod Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I definatly say EE at night hands down! That thing sends a certain chill down your spine at night, but it is very beutiful! No PTR is complete without it!
Worm Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Ananconda @ Gold reef city. Pink and teal actually go good together! The river rapids underneath is also beautiful with all the palm trees and huge fake rocks!
jynx242 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 GASM at SFoG. Its reflection in the lake that it is over is just beautiful. Also, at night when the lights are twinkling all along its track and fireworks are going off over it - a sight to behold. When I was little - it was the first "big" rollercoaster that I ever saw and I couldn't wait to be tall enough to ride it.
jamesdillaman Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I always like driving into Michigan Adventure as you travel past the insanely long structure of Shivering Timbers, which can seem to shine in the early morning sun. Nothing like when that first train tests as you wait for the gates to open. That is definitely a beautiful coaster. -James Dillaman
FlyingScooter Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 The title of this thread sounds like a Broadway Musical. Jennifer Aniston in Beauty and the Coaster! She's alone in a big city, affraid to venture out. Then she meets Son of Beast and her world is turned upside down! SOB takes her for a ride like no other. She becomes seduced by his mad powers! ...based loosely on the tales of Phantom of the Opera and beauty and the Beast.
Erik Johnson Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I think Apollo's Chariot has my favorite coaster setting, but in terms of the actual coaster/coaster train itself? Hmmmm, I really like Expedition Everest's trains, especially with the interactive steam....
Jumboshrmp Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Dueling Dragons at night. The two loops are lit up red and blue for fire and Ice. Not to mention that since that is a dark area of the park (and there is a wall between the street on the other side), that coaster is PITCH BLACK. It' was awesome riding at night, but also, it seemed to be much higher when you look down from it at night.
jamesdillaman Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^That reminds me, when you ride the beast at night, coming up the second lift, the view of the park is incredible. The coaster itself isn't beautiful, but especially if the fireworks are going off, it's a great experience. -James Dillaman
Coastinmiller Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 The Demon at Tivoli Gardens at night is a really awesome sight, with the whole track lit up and the Japanese lanterns all over the place.
ParkTrips Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Beauty can pretty much only be found in wood, IMO. Not to say that steel can't look good, but wood lattice just overshadow's anything in steel.
BeemerBoy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ Yep. And to think, two of the most beautiful are also two of the worst.......Mean Streak and SOB. Well, IMO, of course.
BiCoastal Kid Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 See, I think SOB is actually really freakin ugly. The Voyage Revolution Giant Dipper @ Belmont Hoosier Hurricane WHite Cyclone
viking86 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Of those I have been on: Hullámvasút Hochschaubahn Katun Lisebergbanan Magnus Colossus
BeemerBoy Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 See, I think SOB is actually really freakin ugly. Well, yeah, I forgot to mention that if you take away the stupid loop, it's one of the most incredible structures around.
Golfie Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 My first thought was Raging Bull at SFGAm, but since all there is around SFGAm is ugly factories, it's not that great of a view from up top. American Eagle, however, is awesome. When you look down the helix, all of the wooden supports look beautiful. Andrew "Yay for woodies!" C.
niiicolaaah Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I don't have one specific favorite, but I am a fan of B&M coasters. They can look very graceful IMO. Raptor Scorcher, although it needs to be painted Riddler's Top Gun PGA Pics pimped from RCDB
benzo41190 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 I really like the setting of Hades....its just so pretty!
Reon Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^Amen to that, though its more of the whole are of the 3 titans for me... I think Millenium Force is the most beutiful coaster I've ridden to date. It just looks so elegent, especially at night when the lift is lit up like a rave..
steel Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I wish those lights changed more gradually, like Power Tower's. That would be way better looking, IMO.
USRoadTripper Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Great American Scream Machine in SFoG is the Nicole Kidman of roller coasters. -Julie
commander jigga Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Dueling Dragons is the most beautifully designed ride in my opinion. But look-wise, I'd have to say.....hmm....either Incredible Hulk or Kumba.
havenli Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I'm partial to Dollywood's Thunderhead. The twisted wooden structure nestled in the mountains...what's NOT beautiful about it? http://www.coastergallery.com/2002/DW16.html See? Ain't it pretty?
