BuffaloWingRider
You know this new coaster business is getting boring we all know its gonna happen but I really don't like hearing about it anymore... It's like you're asking for a pony for Christmas! Yo man, we haven't talked about that for several pages. Let's not start again. Please Yeah every now and then some random person that doesn't know anything about Valleyfair just comes here to say that and it's ironic like you said because that wasn't even what we were talking about. VF15
Knott's Berry Farm recently announced the removal of their RipTide. That combined with Dorney removing theirs last year makes me think Valleyfair's might be next on the chopping block. I've noticed that it has probably the most downtime of any ride in the park, not to mention it rarely has a line, even on hot days. Thoughts? Coaster Curt
Get rid of it, I haven't ridden that thing in years. Would make a nice spot for a station for the new coaster

I've noticed that it has probably the most downtime of any ride in the park, not to mention it rarely has a line, even on hot days. Thoughts? It never has line due to its large capacity and the fact that no one likes it. I'm gonna ask when there is leadership training on what fate Riptide might have. I'm not sure what to think, considering the amount of money they put into it and the new ride program it got late last summer that dramatically reduced faults. Coaster Curt
The thing is it is just not fun to ride, with the added water park expansion I think it has even less people riding it than before. It has a decent size location so maybe take it out and add a nice Huss ride in its spot. Right in front would be a great location for one.
millertpr
Great place for a new station for a new roller coaster. Boring ride that has non working effects and other stuff so I would be happy to see it removed. If they move The Wave as well I would be happy. The Wave has the lowest guest satisfaction rating among any ride or attraction at Cedar Fair parks among season pass holders which make up roughly 45% of Valleyfair so I could see that easily go or be moved. Where did you hear this? Yeah, the Wave is literally a staple. There's no way it's going anywhere anytime soon. It always gets very good ridership, especially on hot days. millertpr
I interned with Cedar Fair while I was at Northwestern and we pulled out a chain wide survey among season pass holders---it's a tricky situation because the season pass holders hate the ride but it is in the top half for day tickets. Meghna
Since the Wave is such a novelty ride, it's not surprising that season pass holders skip it. I haven't ridden it in goodness knows how long myself. However, I think the fact that non-season pass holders like it is enough to keep it in the park. Out of all of the rumors I've heard, none have ever dealt with the Wave.
Drbcoaster
Valleyfair got a mention in a Seeking Alpha article about Cedar Fair. Specifically, it is noted for being one of the next parks slated for major investment after Carowinds (the other is CGA). The overall article is pretty interesting, even if you're not an investor. VF15
Based on the success at Carowinds, the company is looking at Valleyfair and Great America next (though zoning limitations at the latter may hamper some expansion). While I don't think it's prudent to project mid-high single-digit growth over the long term, I think it may be sustainable for the next few years based on the slate of investments. Remember that 2016 results will be driven mostly by '15 capex spend, and a lot of that (ex. Valravn) is already in - so capital spend this year will be mostly driving revenue in '17 and beyond. millertpr
With what's happening in Canada: I would agree that major investment is coming next year. I think whatever coaster we get will be a large B&M or RMC. It is a big project and wouldn't be anything cheap and small. There is potential in Valleyfair they just had 5 previous seasons of really strong investments and took an "off-year" in 2016
BuffaloWingRider
I'm hoping 2017 will be our year for something great. I like the wave, not riding it, but watching it. Also it's a classic. Riptide can leave now though and i agree a station would go good there because That area could use a coaster, a while back someone said an inversion could interact with the Power Tower bridge, and I would like to see some midway interaction. The Riptide section of land seems very favorable to me as well. However, there is no way it could interact with the PowTow bridge. For one, it bounces. Second, the train already goes under it and there isn't anywhere to reroute the tracks to. It would be dam cool though.
millertpr
I would argue that it should be going the other way towards the front gate like other cedar fair parks have recently done.
Mikxy
Well, screamscape has a couple rumors floating around, and we know that they are known for alot of their rumors to be true. I really think 2017 could possibly be an amazing year for VF. Well, I hope.

They were rumoring a while back that we'd receive a Mondial Frisbee in addition to the flyers, but that obviously didn't happen.

millertpr
I actually heard a couple of things regarding the frisbee... First, Mondial, like B&M, allow for companies to pay some extra money so that other parks in the region cannot have that kind of ride. Well, Adventureland in Iowa installed a starflyer next year and Cedar Fair needs approval from them. Second, Lance at Screamscape knows almost everything there is to know and has the most credible sources anywhere. I was talking to him this offseason and he actually said that it came from just a regular VF rides attendant. Screamscape doesn't normally take anyone's rumors, but at a small park like Valleyfair where almost no news comes out other than directly from Dave or from Matt Oumiet and a company release, he's going to take anything he can get. Also, side note: Screamscqpe partners with In The Loop which I think is the best roller coaster YouTube/podcast. They have amazing stuff. Check it out if you haven't. Off the walls funny. Meghna
he actually said that it came from just a regular VF rides attendant. An attendant? I'm not sure if you mean an under 18 operator, or an operator over 18. In either case, I extremely doubt anyone outside of management knows anything about what's coming next. If anything, they told him something based on rumors they saw on the same sight or heard from other associates who heard from the same source. There are also chances that they were saying something they heard from their team lead, in which case I can assure you none of us know anything about what is coming next. It is our own speculation much like what we are discussing here on this site.
