Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Mikxy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe @Mike240SXcan tell me, is it worth visiting HersheyPark on a Saturday if we utilize the fast track unlimited? Trying to figure out something else but might just have to end up visiting Hershey on a weekend. Out of Cedar Point, Kennywood, Hershey Park, Knoebels, Dorney, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, & Kings Island, it's seeming pretty impossible to avoid visiting at least one of the good parks on a Saturday. -

Haha don't have the platinum pass, just work at VF and need to finally be able to say I've visited over 50% of the chain -

Will probably do both Knoebels and Dorney in the same day, honestly there's only like 4-6 rides total between the two I'm interested in riding. King's Dominion looks very promising, wish V:TBC was still there tho. Heard I:305 is down but will still absolutely go, not sure if BGW is worth the $$$ to just try and and squeeze the coasters in and not experience the whole park. -

I've been a couple times before, never without fastlane+, so I'll just stick to the weekday and probably save some money by staying at a crappy place offsight. Going from MN to CP, hitting Mt. Olympus on the way, spending night and going to park early next day, at least 1 full day at cp, maybe 2, but probably just one. Then thinking of going to Kennywood, Hershey, Dorney, KD, Carowinds, and hitting KI on the way back to MN. Free admission/parking at CF parks, anybody else think a different plan might be better? Going to be weird trying to figure out which parks to do on weekend vs weekday with limited days open for a lot of places, might trim a couple parks but probably not. -

Would it be better to stay at cp and do early access on a weekend or stay nearby and enter at standard time w/ FL+ on a weekday, guessing the latter -

The only hint of Valleyfair is the Mississippi River, but we'll see. -

I mean... As interesting as this is, where would they put a roller coaster? The dino's contract has until 2019 and then it will be gone, and I just can't think of any other reasonable locations that would be a good spot for crowds and a new coaster. -

We payed $240 to wait 30 mins instead of an hour on TTD. worth it, but holy crap! -

It'd be interesting if we got the new Morgan trains. -

I won't be surprised if we don't have a coaster until 2022 or later, honestly. -

I totally agree with this. Tilter doesn't take up much space but it would make a great entrance point for something that is going to take parking lot space. We do know that they are going to build another parking lot so losing parking space here is going at affect them at all. In fact, it makes sense to continue expansion along highway 101 for curb appeal!! I really have no idea at this point what is going here. Is it possible that a new coaster is going here but won't open till late 2018? Steel Venom's got curb appeal. I just don't think Knott's Boomerang is coming to us. I sure hope it isn't. We have enough shuttles for this small of a park. -

At the park today, a friend and I were waiting for renegade. They stopped the train that was in the transfer and evacuated it. The ride went down and they had to inspect the train after some riders had whiplash or something and one man was wheeled off by some security and medical people. He had a neck brace and we went out right behind him through the exit. -

At this point, I hope for anything! The only thing I think will definitely happen for 2018: the at-the-gate ticket price will increase to $55 or more. With tax, the total is $56.91. But, you do get that second visit. -

I doubt it's true, but it has been down quite a bit lately and in general has a lot of downtime -

I would like to make a note that if you are an employee of any Cedar Fair park you risk your job endorsing and releasing such info to the public on a forum like this. One of the reasons why I cautiously limit what I post on here as some of the information I hear hasn't been released to the general public yet. I was going to say something. Thanks for doing the honors. -

I touch that support almost ever time I ride. I'm 5,3. I showed my friend one time and all the gp heard it and saw it and was like "holy shit" -

Yes, admissions and park services are both stricter with dresscode policies, but it's better to hear it up front then in the back and have to walk all the way to your car, right? And if you show up to a family amusement park wearing clothes riddled with profanity? I mean what do you expect? -

Valleyfair's dresscode policy instates that bikini bottoms are not allowed outside of Soak City and men and boys MUST wear a shirt outside of Soak City. Because of Thunder Canyon being in the park, and not Soak City, riders must follow the dresscode policy. -

I have a friend in rides who works riptide and he says they are lucky if it only closes once a day. What happens is the arms become kind of off-set a tiny bit and it just shuts down the entire system and they wait and get it back up and running. -
The hardest brake I think I've experienced is an intamin inpulse, but it might just feel the most intense because you come to a stop when you are going backwards. Can anybody compare and contrast to this?
-
What are the highest forces on a brake run? I know while playing NoLimits and other advanced roller coaster simulators you can increase or decrease the g forces of deacceleration. What is the comfortable limit? And what coaster has the highest deacceleration g force? I know many of intamin's coasters have high forces on the brake runs. Just a question I've had for a while now.

I used Google Earth images of CP and VF taken at the same eye altitude above ground in order to get the scale correct. That is maXair's actual size if it were placed in VF. Below is a composite of VF, CP, and CW, all taken from 17,335 feet above. Jeez, I otta' get my eyes checked. I've only been on maXair a couple times, sorry. I thought it would be bigger on maps lol
