The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^Sorry bud, I wouldn't count on it.

I have this terrible feeling we're going to be getting one of those stupid box rides...UGHHHHHH OH DEAR PLEASE GAWD NO!

Oh and by the way, I have confirmed with the park that X2 will be down for the next 2 weeks for general maintenance. So if you're visiting, don't expect it to be open.

Yeah I guess it makes sense to do a general maintenance now during the last 2 weeks of the Summer Schedule instead of from November through April when they're only open 2-3 days a week This fuggin' park mang.

From what I remember X2 was coated with a very expensive military grade paint, which is why it still looks pretty good considering how long ago that paint job was. I believe it was something similar to this: http://www.texcote.com/commercial.php

I did notice Superman was starting to fade a bit on my last trip, which is too bad I really like the paint on that ride. As for Tatsu it just looks horrible. I'm guessing it won't be painted for atleast another season or 2 because they will probably have to close Revolution to repaint it. It's just so ridiculously high up they're probably going to have to use a crane to get to some of the areas. Kinda funny when you install something like this you don't really think long term like "well what about 10 years down the road when we have to repaint it?"

I acutally don't think we'll see a JL:BFM, I could acutally see a custom dark ride. The competition is extremely stiff in the SoCal dark ride department, and while its super good at parks like SFstL, its mainly due to the fact that their isn't a ton of stuff to compare it too. So I could see them customizing it (maybe removing the shooting part) and giving it a new name, possibly Justice League: Battle for Gotham City. Just my thoughts. I originally thought we'd see a custom dark ride and some flats, but since they said RIDE (not rides) I'm now leaning towards a Movie District retheme with a customized dark ride

Wow, people are going to have a hard time excepting a Justice League clone at SFMM lol.

Almost as tough a time as Great Adventure fans had with the S&S spin clone. I myself am looking forward to it.

The fact that it's a clone doesn't bother me, I just feel the ride doesn't fit SFMM's core demographic which is thrill seekers. Especially since attendance is down this year, I don't think Justice League will get people through the gates like Twisted Colossus and Full Throttle did. I'm also extremely worried that in 2-3 years, only half the effects will work, the ride cars will be vandalized beyond repair, and they will only have half of the vehicles operating at any given point.

Looking forward to see if the Movie District gets a complete overhaul though. The last 3 area revamps (Full Throttle Zone, DC Universe, Steampunk) have been pretty good. Hopefully next, Cyclone Bay will get some MAJOR love.

^ I don't completely disagree with any of this. But you know this is a one off don't you? Just like Drop Of Doom was. SFMM will be back to building bare ass coasters right after this, so I'm going to enjoy this dark ride, which has gotten nothing but stellar reviews where ever it goes.

I'd much rather have a small stable of flats, honestly. But this was my second choice.

Battle for Gotham city. If it were to be custom it would probably just be a little longer and would Probably just be called JL the ride.

Might need to bring back Stan Winston to help with this one. I will see your 2 weeks and raise you 3 months. X-2 is and will always be my my top 3 fav and love the sound as it seems to glide in the sky.

Dark ride is a waste of a nice size chunk of real estate at the mountain...what happens in a few years when JL is irrelevant.....if were not getting a new coaster, a few flats would be better than a clone in a box, plus every other park down here has one.

The justice league characters will never be irrelevant (Batman and Superman are American icons), and the interactive aspect of the ride will help keep people coming back.

I would love to see a solid dark ride at SFMM. My biggest dream is a terrain giga through the hills in back, but I know it's just a dream.

Is it just me or are people not grasping the size of the plot of land SFMM has opened up, even with a complete Movie district refresh or retheme it just makes absolutely no sense for this to be for only a clone in a box. With the size of the plot of land SFMM is working with they could add a clone in a box, flat ride package, S&S free spin, Star Flyer, and a larsen super loop and would still have space lol

Unless SFMM plans on using a small plot of the area for the clone in a box and blocking the rest off for a future coaster this project is just not adding up imo. Closing the entire backside of the park razing buildings all for a clone in a box and a re-theme or refresh has me scratching my head, Did they even close down the entire Gotham city backlot to transform it into DC Universe I could of swore B:TR was still open during the transformation so why does the entire backside of the park need to be closed down for a clone in a box and re-themeing it just makes no sense.

SFMM has prided itself as never resting on it's laurels, so for 2017 they open up the biggest plot of land they could only for them to rest on their laurels with a clone in a box WTF

The then gotham city was entirely closed off while it was converted.

Oh ok thanks I couldn't remember I thought I had went during that time and B:TR was open. Anyways it still seems like the scope of this project is way bigger than what the outcome is supposed to be of nothing more than a clone in a box and a re-theme refresh of the area.
