I think its funny that they are using the same colors as the other 4D coaster, but i do like that new colors so i wont complain. And i am kinda excited about the sky tower, i had no idea that they were doing anything to it...I fail.

SFMM should repaint all of their steel coasters red with charcoal gray supports for a unified look.

Dude that'd be a great idea! Then all the dumb guests wouldn't know which ride is which and they'd ask employees "Which one is Goliath?" and the employees would say "Its the big red one with the black supports" and they'd go looking for a coaster with those colors and they'd end up going on the wrong rides the whole day!!! Muahahahaha!

All us RCE's would be the only ones knowing what's going down.

*bling*

Thanks for the nice update Mr. Jahan. Very informative and non-illegal. Some really good shots, you wound up what's going on really well for some of us who'd love to be there as often as you but can't.

Jahan's my hero too! Great pics and update, always appreciate your reports since I also don't get to visit as much as I'd like to. And they're fun to read too, keep em coming guy, thanks!

No pictures, but I can confirm that they have removed Flashback's station, lift approach, and lower lift track.

And by removed, I don't mean "dismantled" removed. I mean, "GIANT RAGING AXE OF DEATH" removed. Like, withered broken pieces of track on the ground, removed. Or, so little mercy that the train that was still on the track was clamped in half--removed.

Tis the beginning of the end for our dear friend Flashback.

And to think of all the enraged coaster enthusiasts who would happily take a blow torch to Flashback for free.

I wonder if there is any souvineers in the offering there, pieces of track etc?

Posted

Remember how many posters seriously thought they were going to put Flashback into storage and move it somewhere else in the park? Hahahahaaaa

They'll be shattered about this at Michigan's Adventure I bet they were certain of getting it, looks like they are missing out on Geauga Lake's boomerang too, to rub salt into the wound.

Jahan,

What a great update! It's cool to get this detailed a perspective on SFMM. Never been and know so little about it or the Santa Clarita area for that matter. You've gone a good thing and made many of us feel more connected to what's going on. Thanks!

I was hoping for the removal of X, but at least the new paint job will make less of an eye sore. However, the colors are giving me flashbacks of the horrible Japanese X.

Poor Flashback. I've been wanting to ride it since I first visited the park in May 2004. That's one coaster I will never get a credit.

Yup, it was quite the sight tonight. I honestly think it'll be less than 5 days or so until its completely down. Remember that I think they're going to be more conservative the higher they go.

Booooooo. I wasn't one of the people that was thinking it would go in storage then rebuilt, but I was hoping Flashback would get a fourth chance...mainly because I never got the credit after 5 years of the stupid thing sitting there taunting me....

Oh well, here's hoping something good goes in its spot. Also, whoever can get demolition pics, those would rule... I'm not sure if I can get out there this weekend or not.

I personally hate the new color scheme on X. I dont know why but it Just doesnt appeal to me. Of course, Ive always liked the old colors on the track, for some reason. (A big part of this is probably that there is another one with the same colors). Now, if they painted the chair-turning assembly rails a different color, say, black I think it would look MUCH better.

Great Update Jahan, I only have one question though... With those crazy divider things inbetween the two sides of the road, how are they going to get the Northbound (?) side to go through there, are they just going to Demolish the divider?

From Screamscape:

The day of reckoning is at hand at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I’ve been told that demolition crews have started the process of removing Flashback from the face of the Earth forever.

A giant metal cutting claw unit was spotted tearing away pieces of the ride’s station, pre-lift turn and the bottom of the lift hill already. At this rate there wont be anything left other than scrap metal shavings pretty soon so if you get a chance, swing by and take some pictures of the historic moment as another ride gets sent to coaster heaven.

Great update and thanks for all your continued hard work! I have not been to SFMM since 2000 where ironically our last ride before we left was Flashback. Needless to say I hated it and I am not at all sad it is leaving.

Hopefully I am going next week and this gets me excited!

Finally, the eyesore is removed and the space will be used for something good!

And there is no need to relocate it. Just by looking at how deteriorated it is, not worth repairing and sending it to another park.

I never thought I see the day Flashback disappeared...At least they were honest this time when they soon "fairly soon removal"

Last time they said that, it took nearly a year until it actually would happen.

Hoping for the removal of X and mourning the demolition of Flashback? Thank god you're not in charge of the park!

I'm surprised nobody has posted pictures yet. I'll be in the area tomorrow, suing the crap out of my old landlord. After that I'm gonna be stoppin by the park. Maybe I'll get lucky and the ride won't be gone yet. I'll take some Flashback Demolition action photos and post them for ya'll to see.

Posted

Yeah relocating it to another park would be dumb. However re-locating it in the park would've been interesting.

Good bye Flashback!

I hope to see some pictures because I've always wondered how those box segments are fabricated. I always thought they were a ton of triangles welded together... goodbye Flashback, I will remember the disappointment I had of not riding you when I was at the park in 2003
