  1. I can't believe you would want a new title when your current one is soooo good!
  2. Hmmm, interesting but cryptic! Hopefully we get more info soon
  3. Hi There! I'll try to cover all your points - apologies if I miss anything, give me a prod and I'll give you a proper answer! Firstly - the jealousy factor is high! You'll love that parks! Questions first: 1. The two times I've been with TPR we've stayed at the Hilton Tokyo Bay. It's a fantastic hotel and right next to BAYSIDE STATION!!! This is one of the four resort monorail stops so it's super convenient for getting to the parks. Obviously you won't get magic hours with these hotels but they're the next best thing for convenience to the official ones (obviously!) 2. Disneyland. Personally I love Pooh and if you're into theatre (especially technical?) I think you'll like how they stage it. The most popular fast pass ride was still Monsters Inc when I was there last year and I'd assume that's still the case so maybe run to Pooh and then go to Monsters and you'll probably get a fast pass for the afternoon about 30 mins after the park opens! 3. DisneySea. DO ALL OF THE THINGS!!!!!!! From what you've written I get the impression you're going to need to do a good 2 hour slow lap of the park just taking it in at some point during your stay. Not in the mornings though, those are for riding! I believe I'm correct in saying that the most popular rides in descending order are Toy Story, Tower then Journey. Toy Story and Tower are pretty much next to each other, I would get a ride on Tower, get a fast pass for Toy Story and then go to Journey. After that you can head to the back of the park and get the Raging Spirits and Indy (which as you say has the single rider). 4. As far as stuff to skip, the obvious answer would be any crossover rides (which would include Toy Story if you're really not bothered by it!) but note that even rides that are at other parks have slight differences that if you're a geek you might want to try. The Tiki Room's awesome little tablet translators are pretty cool! Also points: 1. Travel to the city is very easy, one of the monorail stops (I think resort gateway?) connects to the Tokyo train system which by the way is also very reasonably priced and easy for English speakers to use. From memory I think you can get to central Tokyo in 40 minutes but I'm prepared to be wrong! I'd do Tokyo on the half day for a few reasons: -You'll get the train into the city so you won't have to travel back from Chiba if you're already at Disney. -The parks tend to be lighter in the morning and busier in the evenings. -You'll see Tokyo all lit up at night. Even with power saving it's still pretty cool. -You'll get Three days at freaking Tokyo Disney! -You'll get to do the third day park hop which as you allude to you wouldn't be able to do otherwise (unless you want to buy two separate tickets one day!) 2. I've ridden on them but the sage of all things logistical (Elissa) did all the reservations. As I understand it once you have your rial pass you can go to a station and reserve your seat but I don't know how far in advance you can do it. You'll need someone else to answer that unfortunately. Let me know if you need anything else. Have fun and post loads of pictures when you get back!
  4. It would be a shame to see this leave the circuit, it's an awesome ride!
  5. Wow, looks great! I'd assume they spent a fair bit of money on this, great pictures Hanno!
  6. They just use standard surveying equipment. Theodolites or total stations, prisms, and levels. Very basic in theory but difficult to master!
  7. ^ Thankfully I'm absolutely here to fill the void... Aside from the fact that this is a lovely TR that actually has amusing bits of text in and stuff I think it needs more Nerdy Thad. Double whammy update!! Note this was taken between his two rides on this thing. One in the front for exhilarating views and one in the back for all the Gs Years of practise have honed his steady one handed camera technique...
  8. Never say never! I can't imagine it would be comfortable but there are some pretty violent rides out there so it's not beyond the realm of possibility...
  9. ^ Pretty much! Whenever you like, I'm sure something else will come up in the future that it can change back to
  10. It seems Thad is endearing himself quite well, fear not! Nerdy Thad is here... Oooh, look at that wall, need me a picture of that...
  11. So you're at Hershey second? A good friend of mine who is very good at logistics has found this place Days Inn Jonestown 3 Everest Lane, Jonestown / Lebanon, PA 17038 717-865-4064 http://www.daysinn.com/hotels/pennsylvania/jonestown-lebanon/days-inn-lebanon-fort-indiantown-gap/hotel-overview Looks like about $120 for the night you're there. Thanks
  12. You'll know when I've run out of pictures when I lose interest in this thread Oh yeah folks - don't leave valuables with Thad, he treats them like this:
  13. Is this expected to be a permanent thing or are they waiting for further approvals to run both simultaneously?
  14. Ladies and Gentlemen... In the name of balance I feel compelled to correct a possible misconception that you might have succumbed to by reading Thad's introduction. Now I know this man to occasionally tell the truth, for example: Do not be fooled however by the assertion that Thad is some kind of "cool" enthusiast who doesn't really care about all things coaster related. I shall be offering a counterpoint commentary throughout this TR of Thad's nerdy coaster exploits during the Scandi trip. So without further ado, I present Nerdy Thad Photo 1... This is a lovely Country...
  15. Nice report! I think if the Brit Crew did vegas a couple of us might not make it back to the UK
  16. ^Nerd. I need to go to Alton at some point, haven't been in a couple of years so hopefully that'll be next.
  17. The decent into geekdom continues! Great report, I'm filing this under "you learn something new every day!"
  18. I would point out that statisticians are equally as weary of an average. Remember 99.99% of us have more than the average number of legs... The best way to look at it is on a per ride/per journey basis for the example you provided since travel/theme park habits will vary wildly the standard deviation of whatever stat you come up with will be quite large.
  19. ^ Could just be that this is a newer design and it somehow more efficient or economical than the older rides, so not necessarily pegged to the coasters size. It's not uncommon for incremental design changes to creep in over the lifespan of a product range like this.
  20. In a book about the cruise lines from the 90s, I read that they used to keep deceased passengers in the same freezers as the food, I'm not sure if that's still the case... No that's carnival. Some of them even make it out to the buffet.
  21. Nice! I'm not going to be surprised when we find out you have some way of counting fast food credits
  22. This is awful news, thoughts are with the family of the victim and all those who witnessed this. It's good that people aren't falling to speculation, it's important to wait and get the facts with incidents like this.
  23. Nice, it's good that have a firm date to shoot towards. Yet another reason to go to Japan!!
  24. Cocaine - Eric Clapton
