LED Lighting On Rides and Midways
TPDave replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the LEDs around Toy Story at DisneySEA are amazing!! -
I'd have to check which international properties Merlin still own but I've probably been to all of their theme parks (not aquariums!!). As for what I'd like I be 100% on most, I'd love to get to every Disney park. Haven't been to Hong Kong yet and even when I do Shanghai is only around the corner!

B&M vs Intamin
TPDave replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't ridden so I can't comment individually but this resonates for me. I think B&M are letting parks dictate terms slightly more than they were maybe 6 or 7 years ago so you will see some bigger/more forceful rides but I think most parks know that Intamin are more comfortable pushing the envelope so will naturally go towards them for the more intense rides that enthusiasts seem to prefer. -
^ well it was only half its current age back the. As well so it probably all fed into it. I'm just amazed that Disney put their guests through that!

What park should have an Intamin Mega-Lite?
TPDave replied to Montuman99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the question is what park shouldn't?!? They're compact, quiet and great fun! If any park can afford it they should definitely go for one! -
Cool photos Divv! My ride on space wasn't as rough as in 2008 when it beat the crap out of me but its still a really bad ride when compared to the uncntrolled crazy airtime of Florida and the staging of California and Tokyo. It's a shame, I just hope they fix it when they do the rehab!!

I completely forgot about that! Yeah, it's quite popular with the home media server people running XBMC on it as I understand.

I've "won" a couple of things at events over the years, wheels, sensors etc. anyone else got any interesting stuff?

I don't 'get' TTD or Kingda Ka
TPDave replied to etr102's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I know stealth at TP has been stuck at the top and they have to get someone up there to give them a push. Having a mechanism sounds smart as they can use it faster and don't have the risk of sending an engineer up there!! -
What GCI coaster has the most airtime?
TPDave replied to Montuman99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Of the ones I've been on I'd say Prowler but I have heard good things about the one at Europa so I'll have to get out and ride it soon!! -
The "Oh Sh*^" moments vs. a good ride
TPDave replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think this is probably more of an "enthusiast vs. GP" question. The "Oh sh*t" moment is far more marketable that a consistently good ride, you ant sell good forces to someone as easily as the duelling Dragons interactions or drop track sections etc. uktinately if the park can get 100 GP rather than one enthusiast they'll do it in a heartbeat. -
Yeah the furnace bit was cool, the use of projections and actual heat was great!! I'm glad you liked tower, they only get better from here

^It worked with the iPod shuffle, it worked with the iPad mini and it's worked with keeping the legacy models of the iPhone. Don't mess with the system!!

Olympia Looping in England???

^For enough money I'm sure they'd do anything! Great report, I'm glad you had fun! Thanks for sharing -
Aah Ratatouille, sooooooo..... Like Divv said this isn't pooh. I like how they've squeezed an extra seat in the vehicles and the cars themselves are more slender and compact, I just feel the system was really under utilised given the amount of money spent on this thing. It reminded me a lot of the penguin thing at SeaWorld. They made this great trackless dark ride system and then proceed to use it to move guests between a series of motion simulator screens, it just seems a shame and a bit of a waste. There was no interplay between the cars which I thought would have been a great use of the technology. I kind of imagined you being part of a group of rats running away from stuff together and darting around between each other but that wasn't really the case. It's still a fun ride, the area looks amazing and it's all very well presented, but it certainly isn't the western worlds version of Poohs Hunny Hunt unfortunately.

^ that sounds poifect! I filled up at a relatively low £1.26 a litre yesterday. Screw all you Americans!!

For the Foo Fighters fans out here, Sonic Highways starts airing in the UK tonight

^ yeah, it's not as radical as the jump from 6 to 7 so you're not missing too much. Handoff is probably the most interesting/useful feature but it's a pretty specific need that it fills so I wouldn't worry too much!!

^Nah, this was like regular beer that someone had probably injected some stuff into, not great!
