Theme Park Review's 2007 Group Trips!
TexTitan01 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^lol, I have a feeling, on the midwest trip, I'm gonna have to take a few cracks & hazing type ordeals just for being on of the young guns; but I go through it all the time @ school w/ my friends, so I'll just laugh and move on. I'm not the kinda kid that'll throw a tantrum and just walk off to pout somewhere, I'll be happy enough just to be on the trip! -
^ yea and thanks for the bruises you left on my legs you sick brutal whore! It's really sad that the parks closing, The Hurricanes just so photogenic! Atleast they'll be opening up the Hard Rock Park in a couple years. When it opens, I think it'll surpass the Pavillion by a longshot. Farewell Myrtle Beach Pavillion, to date you're the only credit whoring trip I've ever made! -Tex

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
TexTitan01 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ This looks like it'll be a great addition to Valleyfair, airtime or not. So you cant get the feeling of being lifted up by your ass as much as you'd like, big hoot. If you ask me, the just craazy out of control feeling for a woodie is what makes it grand. Lightning Racer is my #1 coaster (havent been on much, forgive me), and it has plenty of that. Its looking like Renegade will have just as much of that feeling and more to offer than LR. Too bad I dont have any plans to goto Valleyfair..... -
dude, thats like uber suckage that LC doesnt feel like operating because of a "brush with rain". What kind of BS is that anyways? Oh well, since this is my first post on this TR im gonna go ahead and comment the rest of the reports: LR- Looks like y'all had fun Goliath is a cool ride Haikus rock out loud TGE- princess with an umbrella in the rain, and whats with the painful and vibrately colored Arrow escaping the chopping block? boo bad decisions, hooray bobsleds! SFNE- Superman kicks my a** everytime I ride it, its just an awesome ride that has airtime by the truckload. Definately a good ride. How was Pandemonium? Does it really have bad lines for a boring ride? It doesnt seem like it would, I'd love to go down there and ride it sometime soon... anyways, nice TRs -Tex
-
^YES!! No actually I dont know, Looks like you had fun. Hersheypark is only like 2 hours away from where I live, and I was just down there like 3 weeks ago and I had the time of my life. Did you see if there was anymore work done on the other water rides? Like non-footer phase construction? Because when I went there, the waverider thing was just finishing pouring its footer-deals (it was more like 1 giant slab...). I just cant wait for it to open... And yes, Lightning Racer is a capacity whore, and the trains virtually never get out of synch. So its not like theres massive stacking waiting for the losing train to finish. It's a very well thought out ride and my personal #1 overall Nice TR, Derek -Tex

^^LMAO that would be funny to see how the dogs would react. I have 2 pups of my own, and I know whenever they see me in the water, they absolutely flip out, Bailey looks like an adorable lil sucker puppy, wish my dogs were as brave around water as he is. Now about those dry toboggan slides, will the end just dump you out on the sand? Can we say "abrasion weight loss"?

TR: Six Flags America
TexTitan01 replied to Spideyfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ yes, and he's in the process of it. SFI was in debt by over a million (maybe billion...) dollars, that wont go away after just 1 season. If you really pay attention you can notice changes now, for example more shows and kiddie areas to make the parks more family friendly so as it wont just target thrillseekers; but it will probably take atleast 2-3 seasons for the debt to go away. The way I see it, Six Flags America is the worst park, but also the park with the most potential. Its basically a blank canvas, with so much open space I'm sure half the rides that are in SF parks that go under will go to Six Flags America. Otherwise, yes the maintenance sucks, yes the PR sucks, but It wont suck for long Spidey dont totally think you got jiped. It was a weekend crowd, there was a power outage, and you got fast passes, so its not like 140$ is that hard to spend. Also its not like you shelled 50$ into food while you were there. Atleast you got to ride SOMETHING. I was @ Six Flags Over Texas when they had a power outage and I was on Flashback when it valleyed. Now THAT, was a sucky day -Tex -

^ dear jebus thats alot of kids....but it would really suck for them if we had to do a lottery -
Mine was shockwave @ SFoT. I remember whenever we went through the loops the Gs would force my head down because I didnt know any better to keep it back, I was only like 5...So I was always looking down @ the train floor everytime we went through, I eventually got the hang of it at around the age of 8 -Tex

Stephen King's The Stand (and other books)
TexTitan01 replied to thomas2's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've read Everythings Eventual, Hearts in Atlantis, Salems Lot, and The Langoliers <-that one is creepy, but all of them are really good reads. I have yet to read any of the Dark Tower series, but I know theres a short with the same storyline in EE, which was pretty good. I'll porbably run out to a bookstore and get The Stand if it gets good reviews here -

^^^ SHUT DOWN So yea, to add in my opinion of the whole "lift or launch?" debate, I think its just a lift, a very fast lift, that uses LSMs. Thats it. We could debate for pages and pages on if its a lift or launch, but theres other things to discuss, like favorite train! Since there's 6, and the subject of trains seems to have quite a spotlight, I'll bet there will be discussions in line amongst people like: "lets ride the brass train!" "but I want the gold train!" "GUNMETAL DAMMIT!!!" I will make it my personal objective to ride all 6 trains before I die -Tex -

OMFG YAY!!!! This ride looks like it will be a lovechild of Speed Monster, Stormrunner, and Big Thinder mt. Railroad. And its looking like a pretty twisted handsome baby.. and this is now reason #27 for why I cant wait until Mid-West trip '07... -Tex -

Theme Park Review's 2007 Group Trips!
TexTitan01 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That "kid" was just asking a question regarding his future in the amusement industry, and a simple "no, it would not be of any benefit to mention the trip in college applications" wouldave been fine. You know, maybe I'll just shut up if everytime I ask a question I get flamed... Anyways, so it looks like there quite a turnout for these trips. R&E have you gotten any deposits from people outside TPR? Or is that something you'd rather not share. -

TexTitan01 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not only doing this for the application, I want to go to the thrills as much as the next guy. I was just saying it would be a nice little bonus... Like from a students standpoint, if we do get walkbacks and such it would be a nice chance to see the rides upclose & personal, and be able to like analyze the structural integrity and how it manages with wear and tear of the outdoors. You know, schoolsy stuff. Also maybe I could ask questions to park owners/representatives about the process of going through construction permits, design planning, footprint space, name patents, etc.. I dont strictly want to do this as part of learning and such, I'll do enough of that with 4 AP classes on my plate this year. EDIT: If you didnt derive it from the above description of what I could learn, I want to be able to design coasters as a career. -

ooh, ERT on Elissa? I WANT I WANT!!!!! ' I just keep going over all of the parks again and again in my mind, and even if the park perks we get are fully loaded, or a crackerjack ring; the midwest trip is going to be insane! Would there be any sort of collegiate benefit for this? Like could I put that I went on this trip on my resume for colleges? Mom's making me ask, but I am kinda curious... -

^ouch, I know he's kidding though Elissa you look cute as a little girl. I wonder if it all succombed to the madness of credit-whoring, or if there is still an Elissa White with the mind of a child deep down inside.......doubt it -
well, since I have 150 posts (yaaay), I think its time for me to rise to the ranking that has always been for me since I was born, and since it became a status... "Official TPR Villiage Idiot!" Elissa if you could please change my avatar title to the above title I would appreciate it, Thanks. -Tex "Official TPR Villiage Idiot!"

This is terrible news. What are the odds of being killed by a STINGRAY. He wrestled 300lb. alligators untethered on a regular basis, but he gets killed by a STINGRAY......that stingray had to have it out for him. Its such a shock. when I woke up this morning the first news bulletin on my browser was an article on this and I was just like "......NO WAY". It's just such a shock -Tex

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
TexTitan01 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One thing I'm wondering about, will the lift be just a regular slow lift? Or will it be more like Cali. Screamin where it launches you up the lift and you get airtime ontop of it. If you ask me, with a 95* drop following that, thats gonna be REALLY cool. Also, I noticed in the concept picture that I think some of the clearances mey be a little edgy see below it looks like a bit of a headgrinder effect with that wall -
