  1. Yay for a TR with GE products!
  2. Random fact: I think this might be the first time in the history of SFMM that they are not giving out overtime. Or so I hear.
  3. It takes a joke for you to laugh at Joe?
  4. ^^They can't sell Frisbees and Top Spins here. At least not the portable models. They are too big to be transported. The only Top Spin traveling in the U.S. has to go by train.
  5. The oil industry? That's unethical business. That's "haha,we got everyone by the balls and there is nothing they can do about it." Disney? Making it cheaper for their core market to visit at the expense of a few bucks for one day visitors? That doesn't seem unreasonable at all to me. Especially given the ever increasing costs of operating a theme park.
  6. They sure have a lot to show for reducing their prices. They are also in a different market. Cedar Fair parks are regional theme parks. They are the ones truly competing with sporting events, movies, concerts, clubs, family fun centers, etc. Disney is competing with other vacation destinations like cruises, popular tourist cities, etc. They both price accordingly for their markets.
  7. ^You're basically backing up Disney's decision to raise the one day ticket prices. Sure, it is going to alienate some people, but Disney is banking on those "4 day weekend" people to spend more time at Disney instead of the other parks for a better deal. Especially considering the other major parks in Orlando aren't exactly cheap for a one day ticket either... WDW is a resort destination. It's not a park whose business model is based on local/regional tourism. Why shouldn't Disney create offers that cater to its core market?
  8. They have the guest pull on them.
  9. Lots of plastic trash cans, concrete, and the removal of anything that is historic and/or themeing.
  10. Anyone can buy out any park. They are all sorts of non-sanctioned "days" for groups of different races, religions, sexualities, organizations, companies, etc., etc. There are even some sanctioned days. For example, SFMM and KBF both host Cristian focused events.
  11. Knott's was a great park. But even the great park I knew 10-15 years ago growing up is dead. Cedar Fair has sucked the charm out of the park. Who needs history/theme when you can have concrete, roller coasters, and trash cans? The good operations that earned KBF the reputation as the "friendliest place in the west" are also gone. They have been replaced with operations that rival SFMM's in terms of crapyness (of course that is what you get when you are the lowest paying amusement park in so cal). Then there is the fact like 2 drops of rain are used as an excuse to close the park to save money, the fact the ridiculous height requirements leave not much to do for children under 48", heavy discounting has invited some shady people to visit the park (sound familiar?), Haunt has lost a lot of its luster (because Cedar Fair thinks of it as a cash cow---not the biggest/best/longest running Halloween Event like it used to be treated...), Ghostrider went from being a top 5 ride to a POS, and so on. Bottom line: KBF blows. Which is unfortunate because the park has so much potential and some good rides.
  12. ^As long as they use it for Freefall parts, all will be well!
  13. ^So in other words...he wasn't the right man for the job in the first place.
  14. www.coasterporn.com
  15. I bet you had to haggle to get the "Free Timber Tower ERT with every Thunderhead ERT purchase" deal.
  16. Barry: "I thought this was the shocker...but I wouldn't know!"
  17. Joseph Smith was called a phophet...dum, dum, dum, dum, dum.
  18. Thread does not deliver.
  19. Ouimet was over rated. He did change the culture of the DLR for the better, but he fell short in the one area that really makes or breaks a park: employee relations. DLR's turnover rate is at a historic high, staffing levels are probably close to a historic low. Why is that? He basically tried to cut costs at the expense of the unions. First he took advantage of a loophole in the food service union contract (granted it is their fault for approving that contract, but still...the manner in which is was sprung on the employees left a bad taste in everyones mouth) to f*ck them over, then did everything he could to shaft the attractions/park services/costuming/a few other departments new contract as well. Not to mention breakrooms/employee cafeterias in bad shape (while everything in TDA is nice), non-competitive wages/benefits, etc...Add all that up and you get an understaffed park because it is so hard to find/retain quality people! Oh, and he didn't do anything to fix the awful main gate department either!
  20. Please say it was "Power." Any dart player with his nickname tatooed on his arm is awesome in my book.
  21. Jim Hill isn't exactly the most reliable source...so I'd just wait and see. Oh, and comparing Monsters to Ice Age is also laughable. Monsters, Inc. is 10000000000000x better than the Ice Age ride was.
  22. ^Love you too! Die.
  23. Will the drums actually be in tune this time?
  24. ^With a schedule as lame as West Virginia's, they had better make it to the national championship game. Where they will lose to USC.
