Jahan's Super Sweet October Trip-Trip Report!
Jew replied to arrowfanman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh Jahan, how dare you look like Mummy like it was RRv. a half empty queue at Mummy doesn't translate to an hour (or more) like it does at RRv. That was a 35 minute wait (or 40-45 if in single mode). -

Uhm...wow. That attitude is why Monsters get hit/injured by guests. I hope you weren't serious. And for the record: guests are there for the monsters amusement. But anyways...I wouldn't expect anything less than the worst from Jahan. Afterall, he did develop his people skills at SFMM (where he had the best trainer ever.) -
Autocockers are old technology. Tough to maintain and expensive to upgrade if you want to get them up to "modern" standards. Spyders are just built cheap. Like someone else said, an Ion shares a lot with the shocker. Which is a good thing if you want a reliable gun that will shoot fast and have lots of upgrade potential.

Lethal Weapon Pursuit closed for good

Damnit, I only got one of the credits. LAAAME. -
Autocockers (this isn't 2000...wtf is anyone still doing with an autococker?) and Spyders both suck. Ion's are the best "entry level" guns.

So Shapiro gets a 30% raise...
Jew replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Well the difference is that you, I, or Guy are not the CEO of a publicly traded company who many people have their money invested in. To be fair, he was also responsible for Pardon the Interuption, Around the Horn, Outside the Lines, and the Sports Century series. But anyways...thus far in his tenure, I'd have to say that I take dumps more deserving of a raise than he does. It's been all talk and no action. And he's even reverted to some of things (budget cuts, discounts, no characters, etc.) he bashed the old SF regime for. But I also don't know what goes on behind the scenes. If he's found a way to clean up SF's balance sheet and developed a plan to get them out of the red (even if it means selling off parks), I can't argue with his raise. That's what the board and shareholders want him to do, and if he has delivered... -
They should just go through with the interactive game thing they tested last year. That was fun. I'd rather have a rehabbed/updated Tom Sawyers Island with that game than a pirate island. Besides, if this rumor is true, it too will be irrelevant in 5-10 years when the Pirates craze has gone away. Marketing people should not be allowed to make decisions.

Slingshot cord snaps at Tulsa State Fair
Jew replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
According to the first post a cord good for 2,000 "ejections" snapped after no more than 400 "ejections," and there's not a problem? Is this a rare occurence that normally doesn't happen? Sure, but that hardly means that something wasn't wrong and that particular ride wasn't operating under unsafe conditions either... -
No Asylum? LAAAAME.

I thought this years hanging sucked. Had some great moments, but it didn't flow well. I also didn't like the "Undertaker" compared to Hangmen of the past. Then again, I only saw a dress rehersal too... Oh, and thanks for saying hi.

Knotts: Potential for Greatness

^^You just proved my point...for the first paragraph of my post. -
^Pfft...can you get logs stuck at brake 3 at Jammer?
-
I never quite understood the obsession with Ripsaw Falls. The drop is awesome, but the themeing is just "blah." Not bad, but not good. Timber Mountain Log Ride (KBF) and the Splash Mountains are much more immersive experiences.

Keep in mind all we have on Maverick is concept art/renderings. Xcelerator's concept art had giant glass windows on the outside facing the midway in the concept art too (among other things that didn't make it in the final product)... That couldn't be further from the truth. Just because rides are built that you don't agree with doesn't mean people aren't putting their hearts and souls into making what they feel is the best decision for their parks. -
^Lies. Jet Stream > Log Jammer.

How is the rest of the infastructure doing? When they rebuilt the Superdome, did they also rebuild the rest of the infastructure (like hotels and transportation) required to host major conventions/events? -

^^How can you possibly make a statement like that? Do you personally review all the operations paperwork for every single operating day at SFMM? I hate to break this to you...but you're the one that is lying. SFMM has had 6 coasters (more than that actually) down at one time. I saw it happen twice while I worked there due to power outages. Think about it, even without rare occurences like power outages...Flashback is garaunteed to be down, and X/Deja Vu/S:TE are always down. So that's 4 coasters going in with a good chance of being down. Then there is the operating procedures like Ninja not being able to operate when it is under a certain temperature, rides having to close when rain causes overshoots, the staffing issues SFMM has had (which can mean late block checks or early openings)...doesn't seem to far fetched to me. -
It's on NBC, so it must be good.

Honestly, wasn't there anything better to do with $150 million dollars?!?! I mean, I know the sentimental value of rebuilding the Superdome and having a team to root for again, and you can even argue the revenue will help...but at the end of the day you're just lining the pockets of a dude who wanted to leave the city in the first place when there is A LOT more pressing needs. Oh well. At least they have a USC player who is a fairly ridiculous talent.
