  1. Jaguar at Knott's. The lap bar only locks in about 3 places anyway, and the seatbelt does diddly squat. Most wild mice could go without restraints as well.
  2. As someone stated earlier, Xcelerator's capacity is hardly affected when running two trains. Due to the way the block system is set up on the ride, the second train cannot enter the station until the other has cleared the top hat, and by the time it reaches the station and unloads riders, the other train is already done with the layout. It makes the ride more unreliable and doesn't pull in many more people, so I can see the logic with running one train. As for the slow dispatches, there is no excuse for that. However, they have to do maintenance on their trains at some point, so better in the off-season (even if it's crowded for New Years) than the middle of the summer.
  3. I completely agree. I feel like if they were to just open up the cars and let them spin freely like every other ZacSpin, the ride would be so much more tolerable and fun. If I were to strictly say may least favorite coaster I've ridden by Intamin, it would be Green Lantern, but because the fault is on SFMM and not Intamin, that's not fair. So I would have to say Superman (SFMM). It's not a bad or rough ride, it's just very short and uneventful, and I will admit that I was disappointed after riding it for the first time. And while I haven't been on any of the Intamin inversion coasters, I've heard those are pretty bad (at least the older ones like Colossus and 10 Inversion Coaster).
  4. Scream at SFMM. Mantis and Riddler's are also a little on the rougher side, but nothing comes close to the extreme B&M rattle on Scream. I feel like if SFMM were to just thoroughly repair or rebuild at least one train, the ride would improve a lot. But even with its "makeover" for Twisted Colossus, it still feels exactly the same as before. And it's unfortunate because Scream's layout, while standard and a little lackluster, is actually decently forceful and fun if it didn't rattle your brain to pieces.
  5. Alan Schilke noted that the trains are designed to "shuffle" throughout the ride and shouldn't line up perfectly at every element. Also, was anybody at the park this weekend? How were crowds? I'd like to go this week prior to New Years but my family is reluctant due to extreme crowds.
  6. Fantastic! After seeing TGA go to Cedar Fair, I'm glad RTP was purchased by Six Flags. Expansion looks great too. Can't wait for more!
  7. You should also ask that question over in the Darien Lake thread.
  8. 1) Maverick. I haven't ridden it with the new restraints, so I imagine that would only help solidify its superiority. 2) Millennium Force. Really not that far behind Maverick, but I like it for different reasons. 3) Top Thrill Dragster. Anything this tall or this fast has to be in the top 3 at least. 4) Magnum XL-200. I had a surprisingly good ride on this in 2014. It's rough, but it's a classic. 5) GateKeeper. Love the feeling of flying through the air. It isn't too forceful, but that's not its intention. 6) Wicked Twister. Probably the most underrated and overlooked ride at CP. Excellent in the back and front rows. 7) Raptor. It's forceful and fun. Good ride, but too snappy for my tastes. 8) Gemini. A surprising amount of air. Classic and fun. 9) Iron Dragon. Snoozefest. MUCH prefer Ninja. 10) Mantis (haven't ridden Rougarou), Mean Streak, Corkscrew, and every other "eh" ride at the park. Couldn't decided which are better so I just lumped them together.
  9. When I was 13 years old and driving out on the Cedar Point causeway for the very first time, no image will stick in my mind more than my first view of Cedar Point across the lake and how mesmerizing it was...and this was before GateKeeper. I visited again in 2014, and GateKeeper made it even more great. And now with Valravn, that will be icing on the cake. No other park can come close to the sheer amount of steel in the air at Cedar Point. Honorable mentions are also SFMM and Knott's. However that may be a little biased as I frequent those parks.
  10. ^It might be deceiving. I thought the same thing about Lightning Run's first hill but according to what I've read it seems to be pretty strong ejector. But nothing is guaranteed yet of course.
  11. Looks fantastic! I'm enjoying the colors more than I thought I would. It's great to see another RMC that isn't red.
  12. Saturday, March 23, 1974 Hi everybody! The 1974 season is now in full motion with our new attraction for the year: Adventure Wheel! Adventure is a 60-foot ferris wheel, a classic amusement park attraction, that peeks above the treeline of Adventure Kingdom. The views up at the top are great, and we anticipate it being a solid addition to the park. Some photos from opening day, shall we? The main midway seems a little more crowded than usual...hmm... That's because, located directly adjacent to the park entrance, is Adventure Wheel! The Wheel sits about 10 feet taller than Runaway Express, and about 10 feet shorter than last year's successful addition, Shooting Star. It's a classic attraction that is a must-have at any amusement park! Opening in the same area as Adventure Wheel is the Main Street Deli. The park needed another food facility, this time serving fresh sandwiches, soups, and lemonades. A quick peek inside the Main Street Deli (please mind the limits of RCT3...) Adventure Wheel can be seen from almost anywhere in the park. Many people in the queue line for the ride. It's a relaxing attraction that ALL guests can enjoy! A view of Shooting Star from the top of the wheel. On the back side, it also gives unique views of Runaway Express's helix and lake turn--something not able to be seen previously. Tyson the Tiger is excited about the new attraction, are you?! Stay tuned for more on 1974 and the future!
  13. ^I think that's a possibility as well. Only time will tell... I'm in love with the park and I truly hope it gets back on its feet. The 90s are some prime years for coaster innovation, and I'd love to see RTP as a part of that.
  14. Interesting coaster. I can tell that you have put a lot of time and effort into it. I really like the name, theme, and colors, but that 180-degree upside-down drop is extremely unrealistic. That is my only major complaint. Other than that, nice work!
  15. This might be a weird one, but the apparent complications of the Intamin 1st Generation FreeFall. Rather than "let's have one tower and make it go up and come down", they wanted to have a bunch of individual cars, almost like a coaster, travel up and through many different planes, catching on to different parts of the car throughout the ride, ride like a roller coaster at one point, then adjust the rider position into another plane all in one ride. It just seems like much more complicated mechanics than a typical drop tower, especially for the 1980s. However, with that being said, they do give a true free fall experience, something becoming seemingly more rare nowadays on drop rides.
  16. I'm going to both Knott's and SFMM this week, but haven't decided which specific days yet.
  17. Sorry for the lack of updates recently. The end of school and finals week has been busy, but now with winter break I have more time on my hands. Keep looking for more frequent updates from now on! Saturday, November 3, 1973 Hello all! Shooting Star has been a WILD success at Adventure Kingdom. Its cutting technology and wide appeal has done well to our guests. With that, the 1973 is winding down to a close, but heres to looking forward to 1974 and beyond! Here are some photos from the last day of operation at Adventure Kingdom for the 1973 season. The classic midway shot Even during the last day of operation, Shooting Star has still gathered a small line on the upper platform. The line for Treetop Swings is nonexistent. If you look to the left of the picture, Acrobat is still maintaining a healthy queue. It's capacity isn't the greatest, however. Quite a few trees have been cleared out on the east side of the midway (across form Shooting Star). Future expansion might be in the works... Even after Shooting Star's wild success, we are still thrilled about what the future will bring! As it is late afternoon, many guests are beginning to head home. To 1974! Shooting Star was the perfect addition to Adventure Kingdom. It is the tallest structure in the park, but who knows, that may change at some point... Guests getting their final rides in. Shooting Star has run all 3 trains all season, so it will see an extensive refurbishment over break to keep it running like it's still opening day! And I will leave you with one more photo of this mysterious tree clearing. Congratulations to everybody at the Kingdom for making 1973 a huge success! To 1974 and beyond!
  18. I'm sorry, but I LOLed at this. Bravo!
  19. ^I see your point. Especially Top Thrill Dragster!
  20. Wow! What a great photo! It's amazing how steep Valravn's lift hill looks at that angle. Once the drop and immelmann are constructed, the best amusement park skyline is only going to look better!
  21. No! This stinks! Hopefully somebody buys it...soon! What would also be interesting is if this turned into a Kentucky Kingdom / Alabama Adventure situation. But it's still only 1993 so who knows. Can't wait to read more!
  22. Arrow - Ninja (SFMM) B&M - Silver Bullet (KBF) CCI - GhostRider (KBF) Dinn - Mean Streak (CP) GCI - Apocalypse (SFMM) Gerstlauer - None Giovanola - Goliath (SFMM) Gravity Group - None Intamin - Xcelerator (KBF) Mack - Journey to Atlantis (SWSD) Maurer - Spider (Lagoon) Morgan - None Premier - Full Throttle (SFMM) RMC - Twisted Colossus (SFMM) Schwarzkopf - Colossus the Fire Dragon (Lagoon) S&S - None (only flat rides) TOGO - None (thank goodness) Vekoma - Boomerang (KBF) Zamperla - Pony Express (KBF) Zierer - Jaguar (KBF)
  23. You can definitely feel some nice laterals on Twisted Colossus's slightly twisted drops, so I can only imagine how exaggerated this one will be! I'm REALLY hoping I can make it to NoCal to ride this thing!
  24. Maybe a hint at what's the station/lift/brakes? There's an awful lot of straight lines there.
  25. Both Silver Bullet (KBF) and Full Throttle are extremely smooth coasters. Honorable mentions are Maverick and Banshee.
