  1. BS is a classic and will be going nowhere anytime soon. That would destroy history! I agree. I think it's extremely unlikely they remove Blue Streak anytime in the near future. I agree as well. If Cedar Point is going to demolish or renovate any wooden coaster, it needs to be Mean Streak.
  2. To be honest, I can't form a solid opinion. It depends on the ride and what the ride does. For rides like Banshee that are very forceful and thrilling, I like the new restraints since they are less obstructive to your view and you are kept in your seat the whole time anyway due to the forces. However, on rides like GateKeeper, I would have liked to see the traditional restraints due to the "floaty" nature of the ride. Same goes for Valravn. When you are stapled into your seat with those new restraints, I am questioning the amount of floaty airtime you will get on the drops compared to Griffon and Sheikra. It's hard to say one is better than the other because each has advantages and disadvantages and are dependent on their respective coaster.
  3. GateKeeper is also a bird to my understanding. To add to the discussion here, I REALLY like Valravn as a coaster. The name is unique, the color scheme is excellent, the ride is fairly rare in the United States, and it has a nice layout and trains. I believe the reasons for the complaints/disappointments are that it is at Cedar Point. If they would have put this exact ride at any other Cedar Fair park, people would be THRILLED. But in my opinion, this ride just doesn't "click" at Cedar Point since it really doesn't bring anything new to the table. Floorless trains? Rougarou, check. Wing-like seats? GateKeeper, check. Straight down/tall drops? TTD, Maverick, MF, Wicked Twister, check. It almost seems like a SFMM move...just slapping a new coaster on an open plot of land. Don't get me wrong, I am stoked that B&M Dive Machines are back in the states after a 9-year hiatus, but I feel like this ride would have fit much better in almost any other Cedar Fair park. I trust Cedar Fair's decisions (since Matt Ouimet has done wonders for the company over the last few years), but this decision is easily the most "questionable" in my opinion, even though it was leaked quite a while ago and has been expected for a long time. However, if this is any sign that more Dive Machines could show up at other Cedar Fair parks, count me in! Sheikra and Griffon get excellent reviews and have less interesting layouts than this one. I guess time will tell.
  4. Wow! I didn't see this coming! In all seriousness, this looks like a solid coaster and will most likely be the best of its type. I'm a little disappointed about the restraints, but that's definitely not going to prevent me or the general public from riding it.
  5. While riding Tatsu, I witnessed a wallet fall out of somebody's pocket as we were going around the final helix and land in the fountain below. Edit: Oh, and I also thought of another one. On Jaguar at Knott's, my brother (who was in the car in front of me and my friend)'s hat flew off during the ride, and my friend caught it while the coaster was still going. All the cars behind us saw it and were talking about it the whole rest of the ride!
  6. This is the point I was trying to get across. It's pretty much impossible to run the ride (due to its design) without stacking trains.
  7. The only 2015 rides I rode were Twisted Colossus and Iron Reef. While I really like Iron Reef and think it gets more crap than it deserves, it's pretty clear which one takes the cake!
  8. Titan and Goliath are both great names for roller coasters, but I would almost rather see Titan due to the overuse of Goliath.
  9. I believe I read somewhere that Xcelerator is far more reliable when running one train, hence why Knott's isn't in a huge rush to fix up the second since running two trains makes the ride break down much more frequently anyway. However, I would love to see Xcelerator get some kind of "makeover", since the red train has been running for quite some time, causing the ride to become pretty rattly. This probably isn't very likely, but I would love to see Xcelerator get a fresh coat of paint and maybe a pair of Intamin's new lap-bar trains? Maybe a few years down the road? And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these new trains can accommodate smaller riders than the current ones? This is totally a pipe dream but it's fun to think about!
  10. Cedar Point is announcing their ride on Sept 9th and Six Flags is announcing their rides on Sept 3rd. But yes, any RMC is almost guaranteed to "steal thunder" of other announcements!
  11. I believe the purpose is to have the ability to add a block brake during the ride, allowing more cars to run at once, hence increasing capacity. That's what first came to mind. And SFGAdv is a much larger park than SFFT so I see the larger version being plausible.
  12. Actually Insane Speed doesn't have one as well. You're right. For some reason I was thinking it was a clone of Batman at SFNE.
  13. ^VERY interesting facts! Excluding the Rougarou conversion, Dominator is the only B&M Floorless Coaster that does not have a zero-g-roll.
  14. I don't know why but I feel Silver Bullet would look so much better if it didn't have the solid-red lift hill. That's one of the biggest eye sores in the park.
  15. I really like Twisted Colossus's trains. Lots of little details that really make it pop, and they are also very comfortable and secure. Mack's mega coaster trains are great too, but mainly for the comfort and freedom rather than the looks.
  16. Wow, Six Flags has been "leaking" quite a bit. First SFMM, then SFGAm, and now this. If it's real, it looks great! I love how each rail is a different color. EDIT: Just read that the SFMM one was fake...phew! lol
  17. But like Chuck said, they have restored quite a bit of that charm these last few years. I look at the cup as half full and not half empty.
  18. But you're terribly mistaken! Unless a park gets a $20 million B&M, it is extremely neglected!
  19. While Six Flags and a couple Cedar Fair still haven't announced their new rides, I can't imagine anything beating Lightning Rod. That thing looks ridiculous.
  20. Was the "issue" with the restraints ever resolved? I'm a little behind about what Hershey did to "soften" them. Or are just fewer people complaining? Either way, I need to get out to Hershey and ride this thing at some point.
  21. This coaster is over 200 feet, right? I'm very impressed. Mack has really stepped up their game with Helix, and now this.
  22. Superman: Escape from Krypton at SFMM...mainly due to the sheer height and speed. Wicked Twiser and Montezooma's Revenge are close behind.
  23. By 2016, they will both have 200-foot hyper coasters, even though one is clearly superior... Kings Island and Six Flags America
  24. By 4D, we're referring to an S&S Free Spin, right? Batman at SFFT looks like a ton of fun. I could definitely see SFGAdv going with the longer extended version.
