  1. While I personally liked the Total Mayhem colors better, the Joker looks fantastic as well and will definitely be a cool ride. I really need to ride one of these S&S versions and compare to GL: FF.

  3. Wednesday, January 8, 1975 Happy New Year, everyone! As you know, Adventure Kingdom has began construction for the first parts of Phase One. What we will see in 1975 is: -Relocation of Kingdom Carousel (complete) -Extended main midway (in the works) -New restaurant and facilities (in the works) -Kingdom Railroad (see below) It's only January and TONS of work has been completed. Everything for this first expansion of Phase One is scheduled to be ready for our guests on Opening Day 1975 in March! Let's move on to some off-season construction photos! Standard midway shot. I see some stairs? As you can see, the main midway will pass over the train tracks. You can also see the incomplete station for Kingdom Railroad. All 3,500 feet of track for Kingdom Railroad has been laid. Many trees have been removed, but our goal is to plant more than we cut down! Kingdom Railroad passes over the same lake as Runaway Express. Very photogenic...especially in the snow! Adjacent to the Railroad's station is our all-new sit-down restaurant! Name and food offerings to be announced later. A couple more small buildings with other facilities are also in the works. A shot of Shooting Star in the snow...for your pleasure. As well as Runaway Express' helix. That's all for now. Stay tuned for the rest of this season and Phase One!
  4. I've never been a big fan of Cedar Fair's "noun-verbers:" GateKeeper, GhostRider, Windseeker, Coast Rider...the list goes on. But as long as it's a good ride, I don't care much for what it's called.
  5. And keep in mind that quite frequently, a new ride replaces an old (or relocated) one. Removing rides can be just as important as adding new ones from a maintenance and efficiency perspective.
  6. To be honest, I don't see how this is much different than a regular flying coaster. Either way, nothing is obstructing your view in front of you. But this is the "crazy idea" thread so I probably have no place to shoot down your idea. After thinking, S&S has some great innovative concepts that still haven't been built yet (like the updated 4D/FreeFly thingy). Would love to see more of their newer concepts come to reality.
  7. I thought MaXair and Delirium were both fantastic rides. Definitely up there on my flat ride list, with Intamin drop towers and S&S giant swings.
  8. I can't believe I'm posting in this thread. I'm a little behind. Is a new train for Ride of Steel official? If so, any word on what type? This intrigues me quite a bit.
  9. Tough to say. Silver Bullet at Knott's travels directly over pathways at several points and there are no nets after 11 years of operation. It's definitely possible, especially after the Raptor incident (if that would have any effect on their decision). Thanks to all who are posting the construction updates, especially that gif. I'm really liking the colors...very unique for a coaster.
  10. Same! At first glance it looked like a real picture. If this ride is anything like Sierra Sidewinder, it will have some cool sideways/backwards airtime. The US needs more Mack coasters.
  11. "When We Were Young" - Adele I have lots of respect for someone who can become so widely recognized by just her amazing voice. No twerking, stunt acts, or getting naked. Just raw talent.
  12. Tuesday, December 24, 1974 Merry Christmas Eve! Adventure Kingdom releases 5-year vision and beyond The first stages of Phase One, which will occur in 1975, are: 1. Removal of Acrobat 2. Relocation of Kingdom Carousel 3. Extended midway 4. New sit-down restaurant & other facilities 5. Kingdom Railroad As you can see, lots is happening for the 1975 season at the Kingdom. Let's check it out. Here is some concept art for the 5-year vision. The red area represents the 1975 expansion this year. The blue area is future land for the rest of Phase One and Phase Two. I spy something unusually yellow. Construction walls are up in Kingdom Carousel's former location. Speaking of Kingdom Carousel... It is now relocated to Acrobat's former location. It received a more vibrant green and blue paint scheme along the way, too. It opened this last weekend for guests to enjoy. This area will look very different in 1975. No worries, Twist and Shout isn't being neglected. Sending out full rides of 18 people. A full train of riders were stuck on Runaway Express' holding brake for about a half hour. Nobody was injured. The ride sent out a few empty trains and is now running great like always. A shot of Adventure Kingdom's star attraction, for your pleasure. One more. And the twisted track that is Runaway Express. That's it for now. Expect BIG changes next update as we carry into Phase One.
  13. ^It could be slightly reprofiled, but I wouldn't expect any major changes (as in steepness or height). Am I the only one that hopes nothing gets painted? I'm really digging the look of new track on old structure. Oh, and thanks for sharing the photos!
  14. Speed. You can call Millennium Force the most forceless coaster on the planet, but you can't argue that it hauls butt through its course. It never lets up and I love that.
  15. Who wants to bet money that the blue paint is left over from Scream? Joking aside, I love that both SFMM and Knott's are thoroughly refurbing their once-great roller coasters back to their former glory. Can't wait to ride both!
  16. Park looks really nice so far. Lots of work is put into detail like transfer tracks and construction. Neat stuff. Look forward to more!
  17. I just sat here for 30 min and put off homework to read this amazing trip report. WOW! Amazing. Glad the ice berg situation turned out OK.
  18. Sunday, November 3, 1974 Hello, With the announcement of the removal of Acrobat, major changes are coming to Adventure Kingdom in the future. The ride closed yesterday (Saturday) and LOTS is happening right now in and around the area, including something a little strange with another attraction... But rather than talk about it, let's look. Classic shot from the entrance of the Kingdom. The line for Adventure Wheel was almost a walk-on. Acrobat officially closed yesterday, but Kingdom Carousel is also mysteriously closed with the entrance boarded off. There's no way that both of these attractions are leaving so soon, especially a classic one like a carousel. As little as one day later, Acrobat is completely gone. However the queue and vegetation still stands. It appears that a portion of Acrobat's queue line has been painted...the same colors of Kingdom Carousel. Whatever is happening, we know that big changes are coming. Meanwhile, Shooting Star's line is quite short as well. Although it does have an excellent capacity with only a seatbelt as the restraint. Vegetation has really grown in and around Shooting Star. It looks quite nice! A small flower bed was placed below the ride's initial helix. The area around Treetop Swings remains quite peaceful. Back over the Acrobat's spot and Kingdom Carousel, I imagine that sometime in the future, this will look quite different. And to emphasize how light of a day it was, Runaway Express was sending out almost empty cars! Until next time.
  19. The size of Valravn is so deceiving. Just looking at it alone, it looks no bigger (actually smaller) than Griffon or Sheikra, but then you put it next to Raptor and Blue Streak and it is MASSIVE. Hoping I can make it out to Cedar Point this Summer, but 2017 will probably be the year.
  20. I love that drop tower! So unique. It would be cool if you could hold riders up at the top for a few seconds (as there seem to be brakes). Unique concept. I look forward to more of your work.
  21. Looks like a great addition to the park! It might be just me, but I'm still not understanding the flying saucer concept even after watching the video. How is it different than any other curve on a water slide?
  22. Tuesday, July 30, 1974 ACROBAT, looping thrill ride at Adventure Kingdom, to close by 1975
  23. ...except that train has been "under maintenance" for over a year. I was mainly referring to the Pony Express train and the occasional Silver Bullet train, not Xcelerator. Those two rides NEED two train operations on busy days, while Xcelerator can get away with it a bit better (yes, two trains is better, but capacity is much different 1 vs 2 trains on other rides compared to Xcelerator).
