If you're into roller coasters and thrill rides only, I would recommend SFMM as you can ride some awesome coasters like X2, Twisted Colossus, Tatsu, and Full Throttle. But if that isn't an option, Knott's is great. Here is a quick overview of the major rides. To be honest, you probably won't find much of a difference between Silver Bullet and Patriot. Both are considered to be B&M's weakest inverts (even though I enjoy SB quite a bit), so don't expect anything mind-blowing. Smooth, loopy, and fun. Xcelerator is fantastic. It's unlike anything at Worlds of Fun. Hopefully by 2016 or 2017, when you visit, it will be in better shape than it is now, considering it has been running the same train for quite some time and needs some off-season work. It's still a great ride, regardless. GhostRider will likely be finished with its refurbishment when you visit, so it could very well be the best ride in the park if some serious work is done on it. When it's smooth (and minimal trimming on the MCBR), it's a very good coaster. Boomerang is Boomerang. Eh. For the credit? Montezooma's Revenge is a classic and there is nothing like it in the US. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it runs the fastest and goes higher up the spikes than any other operating shuttle loop. Ride the back row and front row at least once (the former being my favorite). The Log Ride, Calico Mine Ride, and Iron Reef are all great "dark" rides. The Log Ride and Calico are classic and have a lot of charm, and Iron Reef is pretty dang good for a CF dark ride (don't expect anything Disney or Universal level, but it isn't bad at all and gets more crap than it deserves IMO). Jaguar/Pony Express/Coast Rider/Sierra Sidewinder are fairly standard family coasters. Sidewinder is the best of them (and you may find some similarities with Spinning Dragons at WoF). Coast Rider is good when it isn't trimmed. Pony is pretty short and hurts my back, but you may find it fun. Jaguar is long, rough, and fairly boring, but worth a ride or two. Supreme Scream is your standard S&S drop tower. It's one of the taller ones (can't remember if it's the tallest S&S tower anymore). That's everything, I believe, in terms of major thrill rides. Ghost Town is historic and unique if you're into that kind of stuff. And who knows, maybe some new rides will be added if you end up visiting in 2017 . EDIT: And maybe this should have gone in the Knott's thread? I wasn't paying attention haha.

Knott's performs PLENTY of maintenance on GhostRider; that is not the reason why it is rough. It's simply the fact that it runs at a year-round park with 7-car PTCs that tear up the track. No matter how much maintenance you do on the ride, it will still be rough due to its operating conditions. This is great news though! I hope it is one of two options: 1. Topper track, same PTC trains 2. GCI extensive re-track, NEW TRAINS. Doing a GCI re-track and keeping those heavy PTCs won't keep GR all that smooth when it runs 330-ish days a year.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Threadthrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Keep in mind that Thunderbird's track looked totally bright red when it sat in the field, and now it is constructed and is a nice light orange. It is definitely deceiving.

Are we sure that this isn't one of those giant Zamperla Air Races that lift into the air? Either way, looks like a couple great flats that join an already stellar flat ride collection.

Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Threadthrillseeker4552 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Valleyfair already has a HUSS Top Spin (RipTide), another one isn't necessary. If anything, Thunderhawk's removal means that RipTide might be on its way out sooner or later. The one we have isn't necessary, in my opinion. I have never seen a line for it. I really wouldn't mind seeing Riptide bite the dust. Behemoth and Leviathan are not the exact same ride. Yes, they are both B&M hypers, but the layouts aren't the same, or even similar. And technically, Thunderhawk and RipTide are two different types of HUSS Top Spins, so... whichever way you look at it!

Considering that RMC's trains have leg restraints, designing floorless trains would also mean redesigning the restraints and seats, which then elevates the height of the train on the track (limiting the clearance of head-choppers), plus there would need to be a floor mechanism in the station... Just seems kinda pointless to me, but I guess you never know with RMC. EDIT: Whoops, I quoted the wrong post, but I guess this just applies to the discussion in general.

^While I haven't ridden Thunderbird, I could see how smaller trains would be better. I was watching TPR's 2012 IAAPA coverage the other day and heard the guy from S&S explain how the smaller trains on the 4D coasters allow it to be more intense and easier on the track (AKA smoother); I could see how that applies to the B&M wing coasters as well. You're sacrificing capacity a little bit, but I'd love to see more 5 or 6 car wing coaster trains from B&M rather than the ridiculously huge 8 car trains.

The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Threadthrillseeker4552 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Eejanaika got new trains? I know it was repainted but I didn't know it got new trains! Picture anywhere? I believe I posted these pleasant surprises way back, but I'll say it again because they still hold true. X2: I rode it a couple weeks ago, and it was FANTASTIC! Every time I ride it, it gets better and better. I actually prefer it to Maverick now because of how balls-out insane it is. Viper: This is a pretty darn good Arrow that is 25+ years old. I'm finally tall enough where the restraint comfortably sits on my shoulders, so there was no head banging to be had! I find it much more enjoyable than Scream.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Threadthrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Assuming this leak is true, it looks like a fun, solid ride that will offer the capacity and wide age appeal of Cedar Point. Essentially, it's GateKeeper 2.0. I feel like doing something significant to Mean Streak was higher on the priority list than another B&M, but the layout looks fun, and hopefully it lives up to the hype of Griffon and SheiKra.
