I'm all for keeping the 'must download to rate' restriction- as it prevents people from spamming a track they know nothing about- granted, once they download, they can still trash the ratings on it...
-
That works keeping it pegged in 'announcements' - it's getting views, and we can promote it better where it's seen- since there's been a lot of 'flood' activity as of late in the forum (Which isn't a bad thing!)

TPR's Official Australia Trip Update Thread!
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
WOOHOO!!! Publicity! It's great to see TPR making news- and I hope we get more coverage all over the place. -
Suprising for me- I work in the airline industry, and I love coasters... I'm terrified of HEIGHTS. I have real problems in tall buildings, I don't go over mountain roads if avoidable, and I try to make sure to get low seats in theaters- as I've had bad panic attacks in such places- it means no road trips over mountains, I won't go to the top of the Stratosphere, I get low hotel rooms when on travel, and I avoid window seats on planes.

Mountain Lake [RCT 2]

1.) In order to get a custom title, you must go into Ask Alvey- and make a request from the Title Fairy. He/She/They make the decisions on titles- and you MUST pay the proper homage to the Title Fairy. And don't expect it right away, either- as the Title Fairy makes sure you are worthy of a custom title. 2.) Your spiral coaster isn't from Intamin... That's a Schwarzkopf 2ndGen JetStar (JumboJet)- Although, in your case it would be a JumboJet III/Speedracer mk.3 (Sorry- But I'm a -serious- Schwarzkopf Fanboy- in the worst way) 3.) Looking good- but I'd consider scaling back the size of your rides! Try some low-to-the ground rides that really pop- and see where they go from there. Big is beautiful- but remember, I305 and Maverick are just as thrilling- and not nearly as tall! -
Nürburgring launched coaster
QueerRudie replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, I'd rather see them do it right the first time, rather than to open-close-open-close-open-close for a long time-open-and finally give up on the ride itself. S&S has the equasion right, but I think this duration of testing is just right- when it DOES go for the record, it will be stunning, but as is said way too often- "Good things come to those who wait." R. "Yes, I still have faith that even Flying Turns will open... someday" D. -
Not a problem, Matt- I understand the feeling!

Works for me- It will give me extra time to work on the new RCT II challenge that's baking here-

that's why i wanted some input for future purposes; I know the first change will be a single-vote per person for the next contest; I was attempting to get a 'first second third' idea of the voting- but it's almost going to require a single vote per person. I will say this: the person in question DID send me a PM saying that if it's felt that he's gone too far by asking for votes, he'd step down. I honestly don't think that's necessary for this event- I didn't post it was illegal to do so (stuff the ballot box) in the rules. He's agreed not to do it again, but I think for future purposes we'll have to put that into the rules- Speaking of future contests: I was thinking the next challenge should be NL based. I've got a pretty good idea of the storyline and basis for it- but I have -no- idea how to use the terrain editior to make a base land for the challenge to begin with. THe idea is that the Crazy Park Manager in the previous challenge wants to enhance his park with a new Arrow coaster- and has some specific elements he wants used. (I.E. 2 loops, a sideinder, and a double screw, plus a helix of doom). If somebody knows how to build a nifty landplot for it, I'd appreciate it- as if I put one up that I've made, it will get laughs- not contestants!

[RCT 2] Cypress Harbor
QueerRudie replied to Vital808's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
One of the most visually appealing parks I've seen in a long time. Clean, well laid out, great selection of rides, and a feel that makes it like something I'd want to visit myself. Outstanding- by all merits and means. I look forward to seeing it in the Games Exchange when you wish to post it- as I'd love to see it up close and personal. -
Nerdy request for picture of box track

^ thanks... Senior moments do hit on occasion... -
A question for all MODS: I'm seeing a lot of complaints about fixed/rigged voting in the challenge. One of the members has been soliciting votes for his park- which I personally don't think is out of bounds myself, but there have been some issues with a few people over it. In the next challenge, i'm thinking stick to the 'one vote per member' system- but I don't think that will entirely solve the problem all around. Thoughts on this to appease the people? R.D.

This park has the feel of SFA in so many ways... Save the crowds. SFA has the crowds- but nothing ever works the same way. I'd add a Vekoma SLC, a TOGO standup coaster, and perhaps a few other attractions that really would add a 'suck' factor before renovating the park. It would add that SF charm that so many parks have going for it.

Nerdy request for picture of box track

OK: Digging into my dusty memory banks, moving the old files of lost items, and where my car keys went... Back about four or five years ago, one of the Travel Channel/Discovery/etc. channel types did a program on coasters- and featured a segment on the B&M plant outside of Cincinatti, OH, and they showed the partial assembly of the box beam segments. As well, they showed the water cutting of the steel itself, and the assembly of the final 'product'- or as much as they could without giving away trade secrets. Remember this: Occum's Razor: The most logical answer is normally the most correct. In this case, you might want to dig through and find that program- I don't recall the title- sorry! But it would give you the best guess for the final product you're looking for. (And we're not all about travel here. We're also about having fun- and admittedly, I'm not an engineer- I'm a manager.) -
For me, being in a relationship is a lot of work- You have your bad days, and then you have your good day. All kidding aside, I've been with my BF now for just shy of three years (Shocking to me) and we've lived in separate cities for the majority of that time. My work keeps me on the road more often than not, and I tend to spend a lot more time commuting than I care to do. However, for us, it does work. We talk frequently via IM, and I do go home to San Fran often enough to see him. It's tough in that I can't reach out and be with him when I need him, but I do know that it's well worth the end result- Three years is nothing to sneeze at relationship-wise. However- I give this warning. This is NOT a situation that you should ever consider entering if you're the jealous type. You MUST be able to have a good bit of trust in order to make a LD relationship work. If you don't, then you are bound to fail.

-wow- just doesn't cut it- Gardaland went completely over the top with theming on this ride, making it so far beyond what anybody could have guessed a few years back. Soo... HOW DID IT FEEL???? -

A.J. I'm stealing that POV from StarPort 75 right now- That has to be one of the -sexiest- shots I've ever seen of StarPort 75 done in POV... I'm still breathing hard from it. R."Yes, even at this age I still get hot for StarPort 75" D. -

^ and ^^ You BOTH forgot about adding in complaining about the weather, the food being served, the manners of the children (And we'll be surrounded by them...) and how much things cost before grabbing the canes and slowly blocking the pathways so nobody gets by. Never forget that... Wait. What was I saying? Some soup sounds nice. -
^ What he said... I can say from my own experience: I have far more straight guy friends than I do gay friends- and by a distant margin. in many ways, (Speaking of straight guys here) straight guys who are comfortable with gay guys make a good pair- and often, it's a bond that will last for life. My best friend found out about my non-secret (I've been out of the closet since before most of TPR's members were born) a few years ago- and I think we're closer now than then in so many ways. i'd like to say there was some sort of sexual attraction- but there is none- we're just really good friends all over.

As much as people complain about Toomer's Coathangercoaster, It is still to me one of the nicest looking Arrows out there... It's just a shame it's TOO much of a traditional Modern Arrow.
