  1. I'm curious about his works- so I hope to get a further look into it when they're posted; I've always wanted to customize a lot of my parks' music- as most of the games stuff sucks. (No Punk, Ska or OI! in the music choices... No wonder my patrons always look bored!)
  2. I'm loving this park- in every way. It is the way I like to see RCT II played- no hacks, no trainers, no junk added on, but rather- pure and unedited, and with thought put into things all over instead of focusing solely on the way a bulding looks. This, my friends, is the way RCT II was built, and this is a perfect example of letting your creativity go beyond a building- but to include all elements of the park itself. Gerst- Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to seeing every update hence forth; this to me is the ideal park you've got going on.
  3. When you look at a park like SFA, and it's location, prime assets, and demographics of the DC area, you need to remember one thing: They could offer 15.00 an hour and still end up with crap for employees. Am I saying all the employees are crap? No. I have met some -great- staffers who have worked their way up into SF management from SFA- ones who went out of their way to make sure things ran right. But, sadly, those are the EXCEPTION, not the rule. Is there neglect at SFA. Yup. Renovating slides, adding in a new kiddie land, yes- those are good things. But let's look at the overall scenario of the park (Hmmmm.... Perhaps Crazy Park Manager should MAKE a scenario for a TPR challenge here). New attractions since 2001: Batwing, the Vekoma flyer that's nearly always a one-train operation. Penguin's Blizzard River, an oversized waterslide with rafts. Rides removed since 2001: TwoFace. Chaos (OK, I'll give the credit there, will anyone MISS it?) The Enterprise, the Roto-Shake... The last major coaster for the park was a decade ago in June... and they have LOST one coaster along the way. This is NOT a good trend at all. Could SFA be turned back into a place of expansion? Sure. Easily. BUT- will SF do so? I'm highly doubtful at this point. Small, easily removed expansions, and 'renovations' to existing rides and calling them 'new' is NOT the way I'd continue to expand a park- for any reason.
  4. A Hyperlite. It's a hyperlite. As much as I'd like to say it's a giga, the lift area is too small to be the same height as a Giga; if you compare the pics of KD's Giga, and the supports there to where they would be in this layout- it would be too small... But either way, the Hyperlite layout DOES look good. Nice job for Hersheypark- it's going to be a great ride choice for them all over, and a well needed new attraction. Now: Has anybody found the third banner yet?
  5. Encryption worked the last time around... but I think just to mess with all of us they're going to layer it a bit first- it's not going to be a 'poof' it's there sort of thing... BUT... I did try to send to the e-mail the coded number- and it responded back with the same number. My gut is still telling me there's another code out there that we need to find/break first.
  6. That's truly frightening. I mean that. I have seen bad park operations there, but that takes the cake, pie and ice cream. P.G. County, and the state of Maryland for that matter, are actually adding more insult to injury to the park now- that's just ridiciulous.(sp) I'm putting good money that this is it for SFA this season; recycling water slides is low- really low. No new major rides, no new major attractions- just a kiddieland. And renovated waterslides that have a weight limit on them. There's something wrong with this, and it bodes badly for the neglected bastard stepchild in the SixFlags chain.
  7. Isn't the griffon the symbol in Tudor Square of something? Besides, I'm thinking that there's something else to be found there- as in: Move along please, nothing to see on the Griffon...
  8. I think a key thing here is this: I'd like to be able to RIDE your creations myself- and if you make it full of custom items, and I can't easily download it, then I can't ride it. Nor can I rate it, if you get the message. R."Remember, it''s not the SCENERY of the WEEK Challenge" D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  9. Dog Tongue? Will it drool all over you and then need to use the lawn? That might be one of the WORST names I've ever seen for an element! "Mr. Mouseburger DOES NOT approve of the name."
  10. I have to say this is one of the most creative and beautiful looking Arrow coasters i've seen in a long time- You used the terrain just right, made the layout look plausible, and it has a 'snap' to it that's quite attractive to see. Keep up the good work- as I look forward to seeing the results with this park! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  11. All I see are numbers... 2037, 3162, ----. No sleep, just numbers, numbers, numbers.
  12. The question is still raised though: Who has the third banner? My best thought is that it's buried someplace in our direct line-of-sight; that is, it's something we'll find out in the open. I wish I could figure out, though, the third number sequence, as I have a strong feeling that it's something there for us to use... That having been said, we could use the 1911 there, too- as it adds up to 12- which seeems to be a key/theme/thread/idea of this. Mind you, it will most likely open yet another door- such as pictures or other clues that will need to be deciphered from there. Basically: FIND THE F''ING BANNER.
  13. RCT III Arrow Suspended Coaster (I've been in a 'swinging' mood for the past days... I miss BBW)
  14. ALready tried it- it's not recognized.... but I did think that might be part of the equasion.
  15. SECOND PART OF THE CODE: THe middle three digits are 3162 or 3182
  16. Not to put more fuel on the fire... But Screamscape ALSO has a banner on it... that is ALSO flashing something else... Check the HersheyPark page.
  17. Click on the link to the Patents thread above, B .A. B.
  18. Here's not necessarily a preview, but rather- a cross link from games to real life. Introducing... Stengel's thingie. Basically, a visual representation of a ride never built by Stengel, this four inversion tower coaster was built for the Patents thread: HERE The ride itself in the exchange is HERE Enjoy- Overview of the ride The tower... The Tower
  19. Looking a bit at the 'new' RIT site- they are rotating other HP staff in the "about RIT" page at the bottom... I'm curious, though- has anybody started to hack about with the search engine?
  20. Today's update is on a coaster we all love to hate- and on one that has yet to be built. First, for those who are wondering why I'm doing this: Because it's history. Not because other people have done it before, as they have on their own sites- but because it's our history- good or bad. Some sites tend to come and go. TPR is here to stay- and this is part of it's history as well. Onto the show! Today's Patents feature designs that just didn't make it very far. The first is from those crazy Japanese people at TOGO, in the form of their patent for the ball-socket type axle system used on the Viper and Manhattan Express (distress?) coasters. After the success (?) of the early generation TOGO Heartline coasters (Ultra Twister at SixFlags Astroworld, Six Flags Great Adventure, and now dying slowly at SixFlags America) TOGO decided to improve on the heartline coaster design to allow for full-sized and complete circuit tracks. At their Ohio Testing grounds, they assembled a test track, featuring a DIVING heartline twist, in addition to two additional inversions. The first twist was removed, and the prototype was moved to Six Flags Great Adventure, opening up as Viper. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Viper[/coastertube] The ride itself wasn't bad in concept... but it was world-famous for being rough, painful and one of the worst TOGO designs ever built. It had a short shelf life, though- running from 1995-2000, then returning from 2002-2004. Put down out of it's misery shortly thereafter, the Viper was removed, and El Toro took it's place. From the same design series came the Manhattan Express coaster at New York, New York Hotel Casino park in Las Vegas. An elongated version of the heartline design, this 203 foot tall coaster has a tremendous history of being a coaster that causes Tourette's syndrome in it's riders. Having experienced it first hand, I can tell you that this is NO JOKE. It's that bad. Mmmmmm... Punishment. It looks so smooth... but it feels so ROUGH! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=manhattan_express_pmws[/coastertube] Here is the patent in all it's glory- including the original design that was mutated into becoming Viper at SFGAdv. TOGO HeartlineLooping (VIPER).pdf Patented Pain! The second set of patents today is based upon a ride not yet built. Werner Stengel has become one of the most prolific designers in the industry today- with over 500 coasters under his belt since starting his firm in the 1970s. He has worked with quite a few greats- Including Anton Schwarzkopf, Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard, as well as the industry firms such as Intamin AG, Premier Rides, and Vekoma. Some of his legacy coasters include the never-operated Alpenflug (The first suspended coaster from Germany), Millenium Force and Maverick at Cedar Point, as well as the soon-to-be-opened Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa. The patents I've chosen represent his works of fiction so far. The Vertical rotating tower coaster element features four sides- and a track that reverses direction by rotating 90 degrees. It is a great idea, making it so far as to be included in the RCT III rides package- which is what you'll see below. You can find this coaster in the Games Exchange- allowing you to download the ride itself and to play with it. A concept coaster of the Spinning Tower Ride The tower rotates four times to complete a circuit- two times foreward, two times backwards. Yes, I DID make it pink. Get over it. I like it. You can find this coaster HERE: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1881 And here are the two patents Stengel filed for this project: Stengel- Four way freefall tower coaster #1.pdf One of two- there are two different patents for the same concept and mechanism. Stengel- Four Way freefall tower coaster #2.pdf The second patent, featuring the mechanism itself, not just the ride in concept. Enjoy these bits of theme-park history (and non history.) I'm working on something fun for next time! R.D.
  21. My solution? Put a GCI twister on stilts- over the parking lot.
  22. Dinn and SoCal- You've got POINTS! Points have been added to your accounts!!!
  23. A brilliant job yet again with the photos, Hanno- and I love the up-close views of the different elements... It looks almost like something I would build in RCT II- especially since the 'junior dive machine' has the same sort of cars!
  24. ^ I've spent most of my life breaking the mold- as the moldie-oldie goes "When G-D made me, He broke the mold- and was then overheard saying "Holy Hell, that's the last time I do that after a heavy night of Drinking." Stereotypes are, however, sadly re-enforced by the gay community- to the point that a community that is 'all enclusive' is rather 'only inclusive of those who are like us'. I have seen worse bias, bigotry, hate and intolerance within the gay community than I have in any other place- and mind you, I live half my year in San Francisco. Go to any given 'gay event' and look at how they are arranged- by clique, by type, and to a lesser extent, by look. I'm a 6'0 Skinhead- and proud of my tolerant, anti-hate roots. You do not find a lot of us- as we're not the 'fetish' types that people seem to stereotype us as. Instead, we either get looked at as a fetish tool (OOOH! He'll beat me up! YAY!) or as a racist (Who let the ARYANS in?) or as a bunch of hooligans up for trouble. And mind you, that's just me- Imagine what it is for the older types (My BF is 64, to give you an idea) as if you're older and go to one of the pride events, it's assumed you're a daddy- and looking for a 'son'. Then there's the direct bias against age- I'm 36 now, and that's reflected in 'gay years' as being 70. The bias for youth and beauty is obscene. If you're carrying a little extra weight, you're a bear- and you're only allowed to play with other bears. Intolerance, no matter HOW it's practiced, is wrong. it's why I DON'T fit in with the gay community- as it's not a place I'd ever like to be! But- I'm also noticing that with the latest generation of boys and girls coming out, that we're seeing change in this: I can only say to the newly-out, those thinking about coming out, or those who aren't even sure yet this: YOU have the power to change these lines- and YOU have the chance to do things right. Don't get sucked into the world of bias- but let yourself be YOU.
