  1. According to the press release, the new slides are being done by ProSlide- and they do sound quite nifty all over- Here's the link to the PDF press release from Ocean Breeze: http://www.oceanbreezewaterpark.com/venues/0/Ocean%20Breeze%203%2030%2011%20Capital%20Improvements%20Press%20Release_docx(1).pdf I'm curious to see how this plays out- In the 90s when I went to college there, Ocean breeze was a leftover reminant park- it had a lot of potential, but didn't do much over the six years I was in college. I do remember visiting there in mid 2000 when a Spinning Mouse had been assembled on site- I missed riding it by a few weeks, though- Good Luck to Ocean Breeze- I hope this starts a new trend there.
  2. Nope... there's one in the West Valley too- Isn't there an old saying... "After three beers...." Two pints of Guiness, two shots of Jager, and a Car bomb or two, and even I might experiment with heterosexuality- I'd sleep with a straight guy.
  3. Wait- those are footers? I thought those were really old rice cakes? No wonder why my snacks taste terrible.
  4. OK, the TPR Challenge I voting thread is setup; I re-did the pics for the parks (One overview, two closeups) for each park, and placed in-line download links to the coasters themselves- I figured this would be easier for people to download parks directly from the exchange. All points bonuses for the 13 contestants have been entered by the time you read this- I had to adjust nin's points as I had to do the upload of his park due to naming issues. I did my best to 'gussie' up the thread- that is, make it visually pretty- but if anybody wants to dress it up a bit, go for it- I'm still learning how to make these things look pretty and fluffy and nice- give me time. It will get better. Matt: Could you move the 'old' TPR Challenge I thread to the regular thread pile, and attach this up to the 'Announcements'? If it's possible, could we also move the voting thread up to the front page- I think we'd get some extra 'push' from that, too- I'm also sending a message to Krazekidd to put a tweet out tommorow for the vote, and again on Monday- I figure we can get the weekend traffic, as well as the next week traffic after that- Enjoy-
  5. Now it's your turn to judge who's park is the best. You have seven days from the start of this thread to cast your votes. Pick any three of the competitors for the TPR Challenge I. The parks are each listed below- with a few pictures to show what each park looked like in March, year 6. The people who didn't complete the challenge (Win the scenario) did a fantastic job- so good, they were entered into the final voting. The winner will recieve a TPR Bag Of Crap, and will get his park featured on the TPR front page. Vote! Vote! Vote! 6. I like it- the queue's a wee bit funky, but the building is amazing. Modern, sleek- very nicely done all over.
  7. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHOWOWOWOWOWOHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHA.... (I'm starting to think Grona Lund's new ride actually CAME with something like those...)
  8. Prince Desmond: It could be they've sent Big Dipper like IKEA furniture- it's all in the box, but you need an Allen wrench to assemble it.
  9. If they've done their homework right, they'll make sure to make it as close to travel as possible... "We're sorry, Sir, you'll need to check that souvenir bag through to Endor. That will be 25.00" "I'm sorry, Ma'am, If you want to sit on the sides of your Transporter, you'll need to pay 50.00" "You can't sit in that row, sir, unless you're a member of our Ultra-Light Speed Platinum club." "Oh, we announced that Starspeeder was leaving from gate 27 in Terminal Seven. You should have been paying attention." "Ladies and Gentlemen, Due to Space Traffic Control delays, we'll be leaving 45 minutes later than expected." "I'm sorry, Sir, but your Souvenir bag has been routed to Tatooine. We should be able to get you your Mickey Mouse ears back in sixteen days. That will be a 50.00 fee." R.D. "I've grown a bit jaded over air travel- and I work in the FREAKIN' BUSINESS" Sussmann
  10. ^ and ^^ That's not just a monorail- that's the MOTHER of all Monorails- the WDW/Bombardier Monorail trains- NICE JOB A.J.!
  11. Or more like "Super Fast Ride" or something equivalently inane. If I were Busch Gardens (Either one) I'd fire the person who named the freakin' thing. I mean, Cheetah Hunt? I picture the name being mutated in the next few months as they gain sponsorship by Frito Lay... (wait for it) CHEETOH HUNT! Sponsored by FRITO LAY! Join Chester Cheetah as he searches for snack food... Verbolten could go the same route, I'm afraid- but I will admit: If they DO use this name, it will be one of the -single- greatest ride names at BGE today.
  12. I don't think anyone should discount a wooden coaster- especially now more than ever. The publicity gained from something different is worth its weight in gold- not to mention that AT doesn't have anything quite in that demographic. Add in the ability to do a terrain coaster well (GCI? GCI? Please contact the MD's office- GCI!) and you could have a real visual, televised personality with flair. (GCI, GCI, Please contact the MD's office... GCI!)
  13. DING! Times up! You can still submit your park to the exchange- but it won't qualify for the final voting at this point- sorry! We'll be setting up the final votes over the next 24 hours- Good luck to all who entered- and keep your eyes out- the next challenge is just around the corner. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  14. I relocated to Nashville the year that Opry Mills opened it's doors- and I have several memories of the journey myself. Having been to Opryland in 1992, the park was, to me, very classic in it's feel; it had in fact been in decline by that point; even so, the park was maintained well, it was clean, and it was friendly. Returning to Nashville in the late spring of 2000, however, it was a different story all over. Where people laughed, screamed and had fun was a blank, emtpy parkinglotland with a huge ugly building resting on where once a Mine Train and a Bobsled had once occupied. But the most terrifying- nee haunted- moment for me was walking from the Opryland Hotel across to the Mall- and seeing the empty, lifeless corpes that was once Grizzly River Rapids. GRR was left to rot; the ride itself was gone, no water, no rafts, nothing left over from it's earlier days. I'm not a superstitious person under most circumstances- but for me, it seemed like the area was haunted by a possessed ghost of the old ride. I could feel a sense of loss; the ride felt to me like it was saying "I didn't need to die like this. I didn't want to go." I can only hope that the new managment at GET will get the right idea- and ressurect in some format the Opryland park again- It is sorely missed.
  15. Perhaps the Invertigo Memorial Flower Garden is being gussied up so when they put the auctioneer's stand and bidding area up, you'll be in a pretty place. Or mabye it's the newest attraction that Cedar Fair is trying out: NEW IN 2012: FLOWER GARDEN: THE RIDE! "Come see flowers in their natural state. Stand amongst things that are blooming. Ride: FLOWER GARDEN: THE RIDE!" And in 2013: TRASHCAN: THE RIDE! "View CGA's newest attraction: A large plot of ground with TRASHCANS in it! See how many CGA can squeeze-in to a small plot of ground." And in 2014: "FORMER THEME PARK LAND: THE RIDE!" "VIEW the empty spaces that once held a theme park. BEHOLD the empty queue lines, the loss of tax revenue and employment. SEE how a city government can ruin a perfectly decent place. WATCH what happens to the former rides!"
  16. The points are given to you as part of the Game Exchange Rewards System. Basically, every time you upload a track/park/file to the exchange, you get 20 points. Download somebody's track/park/ride, get 1 point. Rate that ride? Another point.. But here's where it gets good: After you accumulate 500 points, you get... A FREE TPR DVD DOWNLOAD! So turn your treasures into another great thing: TPR DOWNLOADED DVDS! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  17. You can still qualify for the honorable mention, though- and you get 50 points JUST for uploading your park! Just rememebr- 3hrs and 16 minutes to do so! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  18. ^I'm inspecting it now- R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team EDIT: I was successfully able to open and view your park without any problems- I can't help you beyond that, I'm afraid!
  19. "I love the smell of FRESH CUT LUMBER in the morning...." It's time, Alton Towers... It's time. Do it. Make it. Get GCI on the phone, fly them over, and DO IT. You know you WANT to. You know you NEED it. Slip yourselves a BIG WOODIE- and watch the people scream in delight....
  20. An update and where we stand so far: 11 people have uploaded their entries- I've been saving them to review their parks and take snapshots of each park for the final voting. My best estimate is we had 80 downloads (the counter says much higher, but I noticed a few people downloaded the park multiple times- There is an issue with the downloader that I think has to deal with certain operating systems; I'm working on that today.) Voting: I'm thinking of using the same system we've used in the past for the Prince Desmond t-shirt contest, etc. Each person could then vote for the three they like- and then it should be easy to see who's won from there. As for the Honorable Mentions: I'd really like to include some of these in the final vote- Some of the entries so far are -stunningly- good- and would make for a good example of what to do with the challenge. Ideas here? Wed. Morning, I'll make a general 'voting/download' post with all the parks that are in the finals (A snapshot or two, plus the 'download the park here' with each snapshot- that way we can continue to drive downloads for the park as we get votes- I think that could REALLY be a winner there for the exchange. Any thoughts here would be appreciated- as I'd like to make the next RCT II challenge even bigger- and I've already figured out a few things that worked/didn't work in this one. So far, I think the challenge carried well -very few complaints over it, and those that were there were 'general' stuff of people being fussy. I can't stop that... hehehe
  21. 11 hours and counting- For those who've turned in their challenge: You will notice a 'bump' in your account tommorow with the 50 Point bonus for entering the contests- I will be compiling all the entries into a single 'snapshot' and download post tommorow. Voting begins on Wednsday afternoon- so be sure to check in and vote for your favorite park. Good luck- and keep them coming! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  22. ^ Great! Give it a go- You have until Midnight tommorow, 28 March 11, to turn it in- and I hope you have fun with it! R.D.
  23. Yes- the parks are to be judged on the same level: March, year six. The guideline was this: If you didn't complete the 'goal' set in the game (I.E. 2500 guests in year six)- you could be considered eligble for an Honorable mention- or even included in the final voting. Year six is being used as it is a fair basis of what you can do- but if you choose to go further beyond that, it would be GREAT! Everybody who enters the contest gets 50 pts for their account, too- just as a reminder. R.D.
