  1. If you choose to continue to play the park AFTER the scenario is 'over', you may continue to do so. However: 1.) You must take pictures of the park in MARCH year 6- as well as 2.) Submit the park itself in MARCH year 6. We will be basing the voting on the parks based upon that. if you DO continue to develop your park AFTER March year 6, please do so. What we're looking for here is the creative use of the scenario as well as completion of it. Even if you do not complete the scenario (I.e. 'win' it) remember this: You may still qualify for an Honorable Mention- or even voting in the final round. R.D.
  2. Re: MeMeMe: You may enclose the rides, but you may NOT shut them down. They MUST be operating. The Crazy Park Owner would be -most distressed- if you didn't pay homage to his thrifty ways- and creative use of his rides. SFGAmguy- Great! Remember to post it under the "TPR Challenge" track file... It's in the 'type' bar when you post it. R.D.
  3. I just thought of something... I'm pretty lousy with photoshop overall. A.J, could you put add on my behalf "Schwarzkopf Speedracer" and "Schwarzkopf Wildcat" cars? Even if they're not as common here stateside- a lot of other places do have them... and they're nostalgic for me.
  4. We need to get feedback on it for about a week or so- since the heaviest traffic for things like that will be monday-wed (According to Robb)- Once that data is 'in' we can see what to do next with it. Categories should include: RCT (Classic, and the add-ons) RCt II (WW and TT) RCT III (And the add ons there, too) NL Scream Machines. If there's a way to have 'multiple' votes for a product (As in 'Choose as many as you play) that would be best- R.D.
  5. Incredible. For YEARS I had wanted to build this type of ride out of my own K'nex collection- but simply didn't figure out the mechanics of it. Instead, I settled for building a -substandard- one out of LEGO instead. This is amazing- down to the turnaround mechanism, and the shape of the tower. I'm thorougly impressed by this- and really think you've got a winner of a ride there. Have you sent the pics into Cedar Point yet? I think they'd be pleased to see this- R.D.
  6. Good thought there- I had completely forgotten about RCT III as of late... But then again, my head's been elsewhere. I'm sort of thinking that NL should be the next one in the pipeline, simply as that seems to be larger than RCT III is- however, I leave that idea up to consensus more than anything else. Perhaps a basic 'Build us a (Fill-in-the-blank) coaster using (Something Stengel has done before) Track system with (Some type of minimum inserted here) Length and (Something reasonable inserted here) for height. Your ride must feature a (Interesting thing inserted here) and a (some sort of capacity related) train operation... I never really thought about it- it's a lot like doing Mad-Libs... R.D.
  7. Thanks- Had some issues getting it there, but it does look great! A general question for the NL people... Who's working on a contest for NL? I'm thinking that we might want to either 1.) Alternate RCT/NL on a month by month basis; that is, second week in April start a NL contest, second week in May a RCT contest, etc. or (Much more work here) do simultanious RCT II and NL contests. The reason I'm asking: I've got a second RCT II challenge in progress (It's a bit more technically difficult than the first one from the 'building the scenario itself' side) and I'd like to see some pacing to the challenges. Also- Have we figured out who's the Track of the Week for Monday? R.D.
  8. Looks Great, A.J. Now how do I put it on my signature? R.D.
  9. Out-Freakin-Standing. The new format is amazing- and it's great to see a full-on view of the interesting things that the Big Mike Roadshow is- and I can't WAIT for the next episode! R.D. BTW: Song #2- The Proclaimers, (I'm gonna walk) 500 Miles- From the Soundtrack to Benny And Joon. Perfored by: Big Mike. Song #9- Frank Sinatra. As Performed by Big Mike.
  10. My thought: Separate out the rides from the scenery etc. simply as ease of use for our members- If we can't directly post the custom rides content, could we put a pass-through link to their sites? I know Amazing Earl doesn't charge for his freebies (Scenery, parks or rides themselves) so I'm guessing he wouldn't mind our passing on through to his AE section of his site... I'm going from front to back (1-xxxx) pages redoing RCT pics as I go- there were a few 'flub' shots I've fixed so far, but working on a few of the more complicated ones over the next day or so- R.D.
  11. Hello all- I've been getting feedback that some members are having issues with downloading the scenario- BE SURE THAT 1.) You are saving it to the SCENARIOS folder of RCT II AND... That you have put the .SC6 extenton on the file, if it's not already there. Some OS users have reported that it's not saving the file with an SC6 extention. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  12. What I'm working on... Yes, it's NL- and it's a Work In Progress- but it's based loosely upon the Zierer ECT coaster design- with a Schwarzkopfian twist to it-ECT One-110316204309000.bmp ECT one More to come soon- like banked track, colors and supports- R.D.
  13. You are free to do whatever you want with it... save the few rides that our Crazy Park manager thought needed to stay... Creativity counts here- and even if you don't complete the scenario, you CAN still make it through to the 'final voting' level- if your park fills the basic tenets of: 1.) How it looks and 2.) how it works out in the end. I'm very curious to see what people are coming up with- as it's a nifty little park all around! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  14. I've scheduled work in Dallas the week prior... I should be there! R.D.
  15. Could somebody post a picture of the Pirate Ship from RCT II? I'm curious as to the look of the boat in it- R.D.
  16. Post some pics here! We'd love to see what you've done with your park- R.D.
  17. They wouldn't want to disturb the Palmetto bugs and mosquitos resting in the ponds of the parking lot, now would they? R.D.
  18. In all business, we must remember the most important thing: "Sell High, Buy Low." While Universal is having a great run, it makes it VERY attractive to outside investors to buy up the stake- and since Blackstone is getting a premium on it, it makes even more sense. I'd bet that ComcastNBCUniversalSegeramsGeneralElectricTheKitchesinkandBOB will put a bid in- as to lose all those rights to a separate holding firm would make the property- and the names associated with it- worthless. It just doesn't make sense to have pumped as much money into these projects to walk away with nothing. R.D.
  19. The file as uploaded to the Games Exchange is .SC6- so once it's placed in the 'Scenarios' file in RCT II, it should work fine. R.D.
  20. ^ I checked it, and it worked fine here- I'll take some pics and post with that file to correct it- R.D.
  21. How is this even remotely fair? You people don't know what I do. NoLimits it only an indication of what it will look like. I've been working with AutoCad, Autodesk Inventor 2010, sketch up since i was 12. So before telling me i have a warped vision of the Industry, know what I do first. It feels like you are already dissing my Ideas without seeing them. This is what I deleted out of the forum from his last post. If he wants a debate, he needs to set it up separately. R.D.
  22. Ahem... W-T-F? I mean, REALLY? The SMURFS? I can picture it now "Smurf Mountain: the RIDE" R.D.
  23. To quote from some really great TPR Trip Reports of yore... Noted! Hmmm... Should I name it "Prince Desmond's Big Dipper for (fill in the Cat's name here?)
  24. Good question... I think (for now at least) I'd like defunct rides or SBNO rides that are in dire danger of being lost (Drachen Fire, The Bat). I'll also take pictures if any of some of the coasters- and if a layout of a ride is available that would be good for reproducing some of the defunct coasters.. I've already got The Bat pretty well covered- and some of the more modern defunct rides... but I'd also like some of the older ones, too- not just steel, but wooden rides as well. R.D.
  25. re: the above posts... I have to say this: In my years of being hurtled around some of the best (and the worst) rides in the USA- let alone the world- I find it -deplorable- that people can complain like that. It's really awful. A park invests in an attraction for (Dare I SAY it?) THE GENERAL PUBLIC. While Coaster Enthusiasts (TPR, ACE, etc.) are very important to a park, I can say that we can be a double-edged sword all over. We can be a BLESSING to a park with a good review, a good attitude and a great opinion of a ride. It can also be a curse. I have (On more than ONE occasion) seen people in a certain group's apparal (sp- sorry- on painkillers here) actually SIT there in front of the media, while not paying attention, and bad-mouth a new ride costing a small fortune. We're not just talking 'It's intense' here- but actually sitting there- within earshot of reporters and media- and trashing a new ride. It's truly pathetic. It is one thing to talk about a ride in 'private' (For what the Internet is worth) and say "The trims suck" or "The ride is like being beaten up by a few MMA fighters" when we're NOT in front of other people. It is something else where we do so in front of the people who are trying to bring a new attraction to the public at large. It's one of the reasons I no longer associate with a few of the Coaster groups out there- as I really was embarrased by such behavior. Remember: We DO enjoy our parks, coasters and attractions. We, however, are NOT the sole group responsible for their success. We can help MAKE it a success by giving a good impression in front of the right people- and not try to make a fool out of ourselves by bad judgement and actions. As for KD (Gee, back on topic again)- they brought a -mindblowing- new ride to the park. Sure, it sucks that it had to be trimmed/modified over the past year- but there are very people out there who can tolerate a 'blackout' strength ride. Am I disappointed they modified it. Sure. I'm a Poz-G whore- I like it that intense. But if I see my friends getting off the ride and saying "Never again" I know it's not a good thing. And that's where a park has to do what's in the best interest of the General Public- the people who buy the tickets, the merchandise and the on-ride photos. (And if I had my way, and my own park- I'd have made the first turn much tighter... and the hill 30 feet taller...) R.D.
