Thanks- I thought I'd stripped out all TT items out of the park; I used a list of 'rides/shows/attractions' that I found at gamefaqs.com- however, that might not be as wholesome as I'd like for it- R.D.

I tried it- once I unzipped the file, moved it into scenarios, it opened just fine- A.J.- you tried it yet? R.D.

... And here it lives again: the revised for 'vanilla' RCT II Grand Gardens- I think this should be just about ready to release to the populous; This version is entirely RCT II v.1 (i.e. no add-ons, no CS, nothing fancy-) but should work out fine- Take a look, have some fun, enjoy- I'll be ready to post it once somebody gives it a decent review- R.D. The "Preview" Thread

Re: Stickying the thread- IMHO, right now while we're fixing up and adding to the exchange, we've got enough stickies going around, so for now at least it's going to still be 'floating'- it tends to keep itself at the top as is- Once a few more of the current projects work their way over to the exchange, then I could see this being made a sticky- be patient, we're working as quickly as we can to make everything as good as we can- R.D. Photo TR: Robb & Elissa in New York City!
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
How in the HELL did you get my family in a photo? 1.) That was the most obscene, most filthy, most incredibly tasty looking PizzaPorngraphy tour I've ever seen... 2.) Delta being held together with Duct Tape? Hmmmm... Not REALLY all that surprised. 3.) I MUST DO the pizza tour next time I'm going home to Brooklyn. It gives me an excuse to get away from the first pic... And Phoenix, too. Add Phoenix to the list of 'sucks' too, Robb- R.D. -
Not a problem- and you raise a valid point too- if I 'thin down' to just the base RCTiI, it might be easier (and far less complicated) for our members to play- and thus attracting more of an audience all over. What I'll do is look for a list of 'rides' etc. that are from just the RCT II base edition- and build the game-level around that; I know the coasters themselves are all in RCT2.1.01 release- and with some effort, I can preserve the level as it is- and simply use only 1.0 edition. the CRAPPIEST place on earth will live, oh yes, it will live! Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just tried something... Noting the name of the file itself (with the sub-extention of jvdv) I tried to place it in... It says the domain expired on 3/05/11, and that it's up for renewal via GoDaddy.com Does this mean anything? I dunno... But I think it might be another clue buried inside the messages... R.D. EDIT: I'm also noting a numerical signficance here; perhaps it's my somewhat 'odd' thinking: 11 slashes in the forwaded page... 11 stars on the RIT crest... 1911 founding date. Just a hunch: I think these might be part of something, too- -
Windows7 + RCT2?

I tried this recently with my own upgrades... and failed miserably. All of the parks I had brought over (the entire RedLine Park chain, for example) were corrupted- and couldn't be re-installed on my new computer- I'm trying to work out a solution to this- However, there has been some reported success of going onto your old machine, and clicking 'import all scenery' in the options menu- Here's a good discussion of it: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=143 Although this about file uploading: The hint given by Robb about importing scenery is there- and that might help with the custom-scenery issues; however, I've not had any success with custom rides (so far) R.D. The best way (And with a HUGE warning here, too) that I can reccommend to transfer your old files into the new location is this... rt-click 'copy' on all your old folders (Files, Tracks, etc) that are only the stuff YOU added to them AFTER you first installed RCT II. If you click 'move' it will only send things to those icons that Windows allows- thus NOT your intended destination. Instead, rt click "COPY" on the folder you want to move the contents of: THEN, as I had said before, find the Infogrames interactive file (I gave you those instructions earlier)- and then 'paste' the folder into whichever folder you need. A -HUGE- warning here: My old computer was running ME- and when I attempted to move folders of CS/CRs I had severe issues with compatibility in the Win7 invironment. To avoid this, make sure you download your CS/CRs again- as moving them from one system to the next will make RCT II unresponsive, and prone to frequent crashes. R.D. Games Forum MOD -

I have win7 on this computer- Chances are you need to look on your computer for where the files are located (i.e. the C:/(x86)/program files) Start by hitting the 'windows' icon- then on the right side of the menu, you'll see a block called 'computer' click on OS (your computer's hard drive Go to the C:/Program Files (x86) Then from there to Infogrames Interactive. Mind you, this is what my win7 did here- R.D. -
The TPR Game Exchange - RCT2 Poll!
QueerRudie replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Keep it coming, everybody- Opinions here will REALLY help us out along the way... R.D. Games forum MOD -
The three coasters that are built into the game are 1.) Standup Coaster (TOGO Standup Death Machine), Compact Inverted Coaster (Vekoma SLC Death Machine) and Corkscrew Coaster (Insane Japanese Shuttle Loop Death Machine). There is also a TopSpin from Huss. If anything gets deleted, that's fine- I can ressurect the park easily (I've got it saved in four formats so far)- but if there were a list of rides that were in WW/TT it might make it easier to adjust- Otherwise, do as you will- it's no problem for me to fix the park as it comes back to me. R.D.
-
Yes- It's got both LL and TT added into it. Here's the saved game of Grand Gardens... the CRAPPIEST place on EARTH! Let me know what else needs refining too, not just gameplay. It'd be easier to adjust the park's basic format before we post it, and make sure that it works all around. I've also been thinking of a way to 'encourage' more people to play the game: A XXXX bonus for people who submit an entry to this contests- I.e. they upload their park to the exchange. Thoughts, everybody? R.D. GG III.SV6 Saved game of Grand GardensIII

I thought it might be easier to separate out the individual contest threads to make it easier to discuss and refine ideas overall. So here it is- I think this is a worthy TPR Challenge to get started with: May I present to you, Grand Gardens- the CRAPPIEST place on earth. In this scenario, members playing the scenario are given a park worthy of any bad Japanese or SixFlags park- I.E. REALLY bad rides, TOGO death Machine, Vekoma SLC, that weird-ass japanese shuttle coaster with the funk-T-Fied loop. Not to mention: No sweepers, no characgters, no theming whatsoever. I've attempted to make this as simple, easy and fun a level to begin with- no CS/CRs are used, so we can get as many people playing this scenario as possible- and so that we can generate traffic as quickly as possible with the game. A.J. et al- Give it a go, and tell me what needs refinement, what works, and what should be adjusted along the way. I'll hold of on posting it till I get a review of it- but I've already taken shots of the park to post as a 'teaser' of the level itself. As for judging the contest: I've actually thought about this. People download the level, play the level, then upload the park at the end of the challenge- as it is. They submit their photos of the park in progress to the forum (title TBD, will figure that out when I start the contest). We can also upload their winning parks to inspect for 'creative' changes- I.E. Cheats, hacks, and related. Once we get all of the entries together (I'm posting it as a two-week run) we can then move onto picking the ones we like for open voting from there from the members. The winner would receive a TPR Bag Of Crap as the first prize. Criteria for our judging: Creative use of land and terrain Best use of rides to fit the theme Realism effecive scenery use Crowd control and flow Happiness of the guests I've not posted this yet to the TPR Games Exchange to prevent early starters on the contest- but once it's fixed up, it will go there under Matt's "TPR Contests" name. Give it a go, and let me know what you think- R.D. TPR Challenge I.zip TPR Challenge I

I'm having some fun with this scenario- I need some inspiration though- I've built a Vekoma SLC, Vekoma Boomerang, and a TOGO Death Machine Standup... What other 'great' rides would YOU put into a park? The idea is that our members will turn around the park- and make it successful- by getting RID of these rides- R.D. -
Already working on it- Should have the 'test' version done by Saturday AM- Using the basic RCT II formula of building a scenario that will be easy to do, and for everybody to have fun with- R.D.

Start thinking about ideas using the exchange...
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Games Forum Moderators
That's sort of what I was thinking for this first scenario: Basically, take a broken park (No, it's NOT going to be SFA) and turn it around in a given number of years- but make sure they need to know that some of the objectives being judged will be not only financial- but capacity wise as well as asthetics (how good it looks, do they use what the game gives right, how does it blend with the park. Some of the best rides I've seen on TPR's exchange have not been the ultra-realistic rides, but rather rides which look good as they fit the park itself- size is compatible, it uses what the park gives terrain wise, they use the best of the space, etc. I have already decided to make two pre-made coasters in the scenario (Just to give them 'starter' rides)- A TOGO standup death Machine... A Vekoma SLC death Machine... R.D. -

QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Games Forum Moderators
That's something I've been thinking about... I do know there is a code within a game that dictates whether or not it's been opened; it will cause certain elements to be altered or have the game fail to open in non-trainer operated programs (i.E. running it on a basic copy of RCTII)... My thought is this: Judging would be done based upon the final outcome of the level (i.E. the end of the scenario) and if they were to cheat, it won't really affect the outcome overall: I'm basing the challenge on what looks GOOD at the end of the scenario, not on how much money, etc. is in there. Start thinking about ideas using the exchange...
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Games Forum Moderators
OK- now that we're up and running (at least as close as feasably possible), I'm thinking of running the first 'official' TPR games forum contest- I've begun working on an RCT II game level challenge (A scenario) where players will be able to use their skills the best they can to build from a 'defunct' park- I.E. a challenge vs. an 'I can build it so much better than you' type of game. What I need right now are ideas for how to set up judging/scoring etc. My best guess at this point is to post the scenario file to the exchange- allow people to download it, and then work with it as they can. Once they're done, they re-post their completed park to the exchange, and add pictures to the challenge thread- then open the thread for voting at a particular date- that is: Allow the members as a whole to judge the parks based upon what they see. I -REALLY- don't want this to be a "I do these so much better than you because my Daddy doesn't love me so I'll show off how great I am" contest. I'd rather see what our memebers can do when facing a scenario with limitations- I'd rather see how good people can get with what they are given- thus this is a no-trainers/no hacks game: Keep it simple- it will make our lives easier in the long run. Before I post the game to the exchange, though, I'll be posting it here: If I could get somebody to play it once it's complete before I post it, it would be appreciated. Any suggesstions on what it might entail? R.D. -
Even I, the most techonlogically inept person in the F'ing UNIVERSE have a Facebook Account. I don't SEE it often- but it's there... R.D.

New Theme Park Near Nashville?
QueerRudie replied to Velo_editor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What I find kind of interesting here is this looks like what could be a viable, living project- if it weren't so much like a Twilight Zone appearance to the whole deal. I think it's pretty much unanimous that Nashville needs SOMETHING to replace Opryland (Oh, how I miss it myself!) but to jeopardize a future park being built because when NOT if this park goes under, it will scare off potential REAL amusement/theme park companies for decaded to come- under the guise 'well, if they can fail with something THAT big, then we don't stand a chance.' And that pic above: WOOHOO! A NEW Arrow Suspended coaster! I knew they couldn't die! (Somebody, please put this nutcase out of his misery NOW instead of watching this disaster unfold...) R.D. -
