I -LOVE- IT! Perhaps we should come up with a name for Crazy Park Manager? He's going to be involved with the Big Dipper Challenge, too... As for elements: I have to ask- We need a Drachen Fire-style CorkWinder element!

EPCOT Center Recreation [RCT3]
QueerRudie replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
OUT FREAKIN STANDING! I'm glad to see you've revived this thread- as I find that it's eye-candy beyond anything else- Not to mention- for the 'younger' people here, they can see an EPCOT that I remember- from when I was their age. -
I've already got the one to follow for May 'in progress'- And I've been thinking... perhaps going a bit over the top might be in order this time... Robb- I've sent you an e-mail with a request in it- I'm sending money to cover not only my order- but the 'bit over the top as well'- But with the recent spate of Prince Desmond's presence, I figured it was time for a Big Dipper themed RCT II challenge. More info once I get it formulated-

D.J.- the technical detail of your Intamin Giga/Hyper/Mega lite is -astounding. BTW: Where did you get the Balloon ride from? Is it scenery, or is it functioning? -

^ Stunning. Simply stunning. I feel as if it's 1989, and a warm summer evening walking towards Spaceship earth- and the monorail to head back to the Contemporary Resort. ^^ Similar to the above, but more like my last trip to Hersheypark- same sort of feel. -
(Just adding this for the Front Page Updates, so I can find it easily) Hey all- Since we didn't have this thread already, I decided we needed one. A.J.- Is it feasable to have one ready for release on Monday Morning? I could tie it into announcing the winners of Challenge I and introduce the new challenge at the same time- so we can get some flow-through of people? My goal is that we do one TPR Challenge a month, starting on the second Monday- That way we can build up an audience for that- thus my question.

There are seven exits on the DC9 aircraft- Two forward door exits, four overwing removable window exits- two on each side of the aircraft, and the tailcone emergency exit in the rear. Please be sure to look for the exits nearest your seat, noting that in some cases it might be behind you. At this time, your cabin crew are pointing out the emergency floor lighting, located along the aisle of the airplane. A change in color or the word "EXIT" indicates you have found a way out.

That's great to hear- In so many ways seeing the 'retro' version you created took me back to my 'yout' of the 80s- and visiting the park. If anything- you were able to kindle memories so long buried under dust and dirt. It's worthy of front page of TPR itself and stand-alone. Perhaps we could use your example for the future 'Mod's Choice' starter? (Assuming of course you consider it ready and you feel it's OK?) I know it's a lot of work- and I'm never one to force time on somebody- but such a gem is beyond all and everything I've seen in RCT III.

Paradise Gardens [RCT3]

A very nice park- and it does have the feel of a former CF park. Some of the things I noticed, though: The colors are a bit muted- I'd freshen them up a bit- I know (in my opinion) that brighter colors tend to 'pop' better- and on some of the larger coasters it would make them stand out. I like that you've kept the park compact; it makes it feel more special. I'd also fix the JetStar II- nothing says love like Anton Schwarzkopf. -
Although I'm not eligible, I did post up one of my own for the contest- simply to get some inspiration out there. I'd thought about doing something like a "Mod's thread" for the board showing off what the Mods' do with their rides, etc. D.J.'s particularly good at design and scenery, A.j. as well- I'm pretty decent at ride design, and Matt's got RCT III down to a science (BTW, Matt, your Epcot thread is -juicy- with eye candy). We'd not necessarily update it on a 'weekly' basis- but as we find things and we post them for the room to see- inspiration more than anything else.

Your work never fails to make me smile- I've seen some really good parks in the past on here, and yours is definitely a win win win park. I'm interested to see this new ride they're building- as it looks very much like something I've always wanted to go on... but never have. Hopefully it's close to what I remember from picture, though. One thought, I don't think I've seen one in the park (Unless I didn't see it directly)- do you have an Old Mill Scream type flume/splash boat? Or even an old Shoot the Chutes? Just my thoughts- it seems that every park had one at one point or another...

Ahem... Since I've been refraining from using these words and not using them on the appropriate people... (Cracks knuckles, tunes voice) GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING SONOFABITCHES WHO HAVE NO FUCKING LIFE! Thank you. I feel better now.

Absolutely astounding... and they remind me of something i saw in ACE's RollerCoater! magazine about 20 years ago- Could these be the off-shoot from those that I once replicated using aluminum tubing, wooden supports and cardboard for track? (I did have some success in that- it took some time, and some effort, but in 1991 I knew -nothing- of how to build coasters from scratch!

It makes perfect sense to me, Robb- in every way. It's what I've been saying to people in chat when they try to compare TPR to NE; and I'm seeing a few people go "Oh, wait, that's right". It will take time to get the complete message through to all of our game players; and keeping us 'better' is the goal- at least to me. I want us to be as successful as possible, and dispelling the myth that we're trying to take over the marketplace is a good start. We are TPR, we are different, we are weird and bizarre. That's what makes TPR special- it's what makes our exchange special. Keeping it with the spirit and feel of TPR is my aim and goal- and I'll be hornswaggled if somebody tries to make it anything but that.

You have to put the track in the 'Tracks' file in RCT's folders- Then, when you open up RCT, you can open up the editor to see the ride itself. It's a track contest, so unless you actually are building a park, you won't be able to open it with all the 'park' stuff- You CAN open it up using the Track Editor function.

^ I've got a similar issue; the BF battles bad motion sickness, so looping and spinning are out- BUT... On my B-day last year, he took me to Disneyland- and we rode EVERYTHING in the park. I'd like to do KBF or SFMM with him, but I'm terrified he'd only go on a handful of rides and be bored; so we're trying to figure out a compromise park that appeases my need for speed with his need for slow. DL has always worked out great for that; but KBF will be a challenge...

The TPR Games Forum Moderators Random Thread

A.J.- those rides are spectacular- I mean that. Even as queasy as I get on spinning rides, I'd go on them. Please tell me you're heading into The Industry after college- because you have a -great- talent for design there. -
NE= New Element, a website dedicated to that game... "Pretty Building and Scenery Tycoon" - (J/K- to a degree) As for policing chat- already being done to a degree; Since I'm working from home for the next few weeks, I'm popping in rather randomly dayside- and of course, in the evenings.

Thanks again Matt- And good to know I can move things into/out of announcements. Less work for you- and easier!

Dotrobot has been a huge issue (to me personally, not necessairly to the site) in the past. When I was still able to update the RLP chain (RedLine Park thread) I had several issues with him being not only rude, but comparing me as being a rank-amateur with no experience, and then decided that I needed his help to make my parks better. (Note: that's a personal NOT a 'TPR Games Forum' issue- but this does feed into it.) TLM asked me recently how to setup a private 'chatroom' within chat- to which I responded that only Robb or Elissa could do that. In addition, Coupon was pushing for this new 'forum' in chat recently. I asked him (and the others) to stop self-promoting it within chat, and he did stop- as did the people he was associating with at the time (I've not seen any of them back on TPR since). NE is going to be an issue here with so many people cross-utilizing TPR and NE. We did get a lot of people from NE downloading TPR Challenge I, as we did from TPR itself; I did a static count of downloads at the end of the play round and it totaled 76 people. To be fair, it's not all the NE people I'm concerned about. But there are a few 'bad apples' that are coming into TPR and possibly ruining the fun for others; and still there's this breakaway faction of players that are/have been using TPR as a jumping board from there. Where I see the biggest issue is the NE people who are the bad apples trying to force their opinions into TPR, and potentially corrupting the system we've setup; thus why I'm tending to keep a tight eye on things.

A.J.- I couldn't agree more. It's why I posted a coaster in the TotW contest- I'm by far from being a 'professional' RCT II player- and I was attempting to show what somebody like myself could do with a ride; however, it appears that people aren't necessarily paying attention to the whole jist of things; that's not our fault at all- Matt's done a terrific job with getting the TotW contest started- and everyone is so used to over-complicating things elsewhere that they are tuned up to a different level of play. If anything, we're doing it right- and they will quickly catch on (in theory) that we're a very different feel and site from the others- that we want ALL people to play, not just the handful; I'm trying to encourage that along the way through the forums, through chat, and through showing off what the 'lower key' players like myself are doing. Sadly, though, there will always be people out to ruin the fun; and it's our job to stop them from crashing our party. We have the tools, the people and the ideas to prevent that from happening, but we need to be sure that party crashers aren't putting undue influence on them.

The Other Stuff that should get Recognized Thread
QueerRudie replied to mcjaco's topic in Games Forum Moderators
A good laugh- what I needed when I woke up this morning.... (got my self a gun... Your mamma said you'd be tha... chosen one...) I'm putting forth a challenge to build up the models aspect of this forum too over the next few months- not necessarily the same level as the Games exchange- which is #1- but there's a lot of us out there who also build models (SpaceWarp, K'nex, etc) and this might be a phenominal way to get something like that started "Show off your XXXXXXX model" sort of thing- This guy's done one of the best jobs I've ever seen on ANY K'nex model- and YES it should be front-page worthy, if not more.
