Redline Park [RCT2]
QueerRudie replied to QueerRudie's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
DATELINE: OMAHA, NEBRASKA. After months of political wrangling, the RedLIne park chain has announced the commencement of the new RedLine Park Omaha facility. You will notice a number of key improvemements to this RLP over others in the past. First, more attention to visuals has been paid- that is, I'm doing more finesse detaling of things like the entry plaza, as well as different types of buildings. These will be phased in as the park grows. In this update, we will cover the iniial construction, as well as the opening of the park, and the first two expansions. First, let's take a look at the Entry Plaza area. Here, I've decided to make it more 'true to form' for an entry plaza, complete with ticket booths, guest services, et al. The design is loosely based upon the Duell Associates park designs of the 70s, but is really my own completeion efforts. SCR1.BMP The first thing done- the entry plaza ticket booths. SCR2.BMP I added fountains, but due to the layout of the park, they are outside of the 'ticketed' area- SCR3.BMP The entry plaza approaching completion; Administration, Restrooms and Guest services are added. SCR10.BMP The finished Entry Plaza area, tree'd and fenced, etc. The basics of this park are similar to other RLPs in the chain. However, the park has a few nice things for visuals- including a small stream and a nicely-sized lake as part of the design. These are going to be used with other attractions. SCR5.BMP An overview of the Project Omaha site. As with all the RedLine parks, streamlining of the park's inital construction means that things are kept on the cheap till the park begins to make money. Here, the first two rides have been delivered and installed. SCR6.BMP LoopingStar from Schwarzkopf, and Enterprise, from Schwarzkopf are added, and the park is opened for guests. Some theming and building construction is then started. I like to cover my queue lines- as I hate sunburns. Not that the peeps mind- but I tend to think of myself visiting my own parks- and any type of shade is appreciated! SCR7.BMP Enterprise has a shaded glass roof for it's queue, and boarding around the base to cover up 'unsightly' things. SCR8.BMP The queue house and platform for LoopingStar. I'm really unsatisfied with how it looks; it just doesn't feel quite right to me- yet. A RotoDrop tower from Intamin A.G. is added, and, much like the other RLPs, it too is the traditional 2Tone Plunge. SCR9.BMP An overview at the end of Season 1; 2Tone Plunge is installed, and yes, it's the revenge of the RLP trees. Towards the end of year 1, construction begins on the second park of the initial phase I construction. Here, we will see the installation of the SpeedRacer, from Schwarzkopf, and the Crashendo... Also from (Gee, you already know...) Schwarzkopf. SpeedRacer uses the lake's edge for a nifty 'spashdown' finale as well as some combination elements for thrills, chills and spills without the big bills. Crashendo is the RLP standard model. SCR11.BMP SpeedRacer is under construction. SCR12.BMP The completed SpeedRacer, including the 'splashdown' finale. SCR13.BMP The end of Phase I construction opens up the second wing to the Omaha Project. Canvas coverings have been added to the entry paths and the queue of SpeedRacer, and Crashendo has the 'traditional' Shaded glass roofs. Here's the end of Phase I construction. Future expansion will occur at first as a small 'loop' of midways to the lower left side, and then eventually around the lake as well. SCR14.BMP End of Phase I. The park is getting popular, so the next step is to 'loop' these paths into one circuit, and add other large-scale rides. Enjoy- RLP is back! R.D. -

Update #3. Let's get screwed... Arrow Corkscrewed, that is. In 1968, Arrow began to toy with the idea of the inversion rollercoaster for the second time in coaster-history. After several years of testing ideas, it was decided to do the inversions in the form of an elongated double helix, in order to disperse the g-forces that had plagued early attempts at looping coasters. In 1973, Arrow built the first protoype Corkscrew element at the Mountain View, California testing grounds. The simple double-helix Corkscrew plus a drop tower and a brake were built, and a full-sized train was assembled on site to allow for the ride to be tested in full scale. A success, the original tower was cut off, a chain lift was installed, and the completed ride was then used as a sales tool. Late in 1974, the prototype Corkscrew was sold- and moved to the south to Knott's Berry Farm, where it operated from 1975- 1989, before relocating to Silverwood park, Athol, Idaho, where it still runs today. A video of one of the 'stock' first models of the Arrow Corkscrew is below- this one is from the 1979 built Corkscrew at Nagashima Spa Land park, Nagashima, Japan. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=corkscrew[/coastertube] Several models of the Corkscrew were opened throughout the country, including models that featured a single loop (Corkscrew at Cedar Point) and airtime hills (Turn of the Century at the Marriott Great America Parks). Here is a link to a RCT II re-creation of the Turn Of The Century corkscrew coaster: Download Turn Of the Century for RCT II TotC.bmp An overview of Turn Of the Century, at RedLine Park. Now- for the good stuff: Here is the original Arrow Corkscrew Patent- you will notice there's some subtle differences between what was patented- and what was actually built! Arrow Corkscrew.pdf The Arrow Corkscrew Patent. Read about the prototype Arrow Corkscrew HERE! Our second patent today is another in the 'If only it had been built' collection- and is the solution to the greatest mystery of Anton Schwarzkopf's career. In the late 80s and early 90s, Schwarzkopf had entered semi-retirement, but the ride builders at BHS had retained him to do some consulting work, as well as develop additional rides- including what would have been his largest project ever at Alton Towers. At the same time, a mysterious model began to circulate around trade shows- of what looked like Anton's greatest triumph... The Figure Eight LOOP! As he had appeared with BHS, it was well assumed this was an Anton Schwarzkopf design, perhaps his greatest design ever. BHS marketed the coaster to many different showmen on the European Fairground circuit, but never was built. In some cases, this was a true shame, as the ride itself was over-the top, size wise. Using the multi-articulated Schwarzkopf train, as well as many of the standards that Schwarzkopf had put into his rides, it would have been massive, as well as having the unique figure eight loops. The model of Figure Eight Looping, a 'hidden' Schwarzkopf credit- never built. However, this is where the legend ends, though. While Schwarzkopf did do the technical consulting on the ride, as well as development of the related engineering of it, we can't credit this to his handiwork- as it was a combination of both Werner Stengel, Anton Schwarzkopf, and others who produced this great design. However, the actual -design- credit goes to Georg Potzsch, of Munich, DE. He patened the Figure Eight looping in 1985, well before the model was developed by BHS, Stengel and Schwarzkopf. Schwarzkopf-BHS Figure Eight Looping elements.pdf The patent for the Figure Eight Looping coaster, as used by BHS, Schwarzkopf and Stengel. ***************************************** I'm now taking requests for future Patent Thread updates, including some that are already in the catalogue for things upcoming. i'm also working on some really weird patents for the future as well- so enjoy, and come back each week for a new update- R.D. -
Memo to me: Run screaming away from this concept. Quickly. Do not stop at go, do not get a t-shirt.

I just noticed that when I was looking at a user. Good to know- and I hope I don't have to use it often-

The best advice I can give you is this: There is really nothing there in Lake Havasu, other than the river, the bridge, and a few motels. It's not a bad place, but don't go expecting a lot of stuff to do there. Not far to the north from there is Laughlin, which is a 'low-cost' version of Vegas, but without the 'charm' of Vegas. It's more of a local's town than anything else. To the south, there is the Blue Water Casino/Hotel/Resort which has more resort things to do- but is in another small town with little to do outside of there. Otherwise, it's pretty desolate therein. One good thing about Laughlin is this; Desperado isn't that far away from there (It's about the same distance to Vegas as it is to Desperado- should that ring a bell or two...

Scandinavia Park [RCT 2]
QueerRudie replied to Gerstlauer1's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Personally, I think he's being incredibly accurate to Scandinavia- and unless you've been there, you really haven't seen it. His flora (trees, etc) ARE being accurate to most of what I've seen of Norway and of Finland; and, in most cases, you have to carve out your park from heavy forests. In addition, you don't see growth like what you do here in the USA. It is a totally different climate all over, as it is for growing conditions. In other words: Back off. He is doing a good recreation of Scandinavia- and for that matter, a nice job that fits the park, the area and the style he's building with. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team -
Sure nuff'- The_Mad_Hatter, Psych, \/o\/, and CountVampula are one... sam_aus and auscoasterboy are the other. sam_aus didn't really comment on anything- but the other guy simply wants to create as much drama as he possibly could. THus why I locked the thread: Every time I deleted a post of his bullshit, he'd re-post it right behind. And thanks again, Robb- I hope your easter isn't being shit upon by these dildos. Either way- have some chocolate and a tequila. "It's what's for Easter" here...

LOL- that's not that bad an idea there... Have a Megagator eating a user... "YOU WERE WARNED."

I noticed that.... WE- ARE-LOUD-ER... WE-ARE-LOUD-ER. I think I could hear it here.. OF course, I was just as loud, too- -
That's a good idea... But we'll end up with no fair way to 'rate' the coasters themselves- that is, we'd have a ton of fake data going in, skewing the final voting- and that's not fair to the general public who are playing legitimately. (Someday I will learn how to spell that word correctly)

I've locked down the thread for the time being- he's being an ass I'm tired of having to clean up his shit.

Track of the week clean up
QueerRudie replied to MayTheGForceBeWithYou's topic in Games Forum Moderators
Actually, he did. We have more than enough evidence to support this- as we have the logs and records to prove it. At this point, I'd like to move forward with the Track of the week contests- which is what this thread is about. Matt (MCJaco), DJ, A.J. and myself are proud of what we're doing with this- and the amount of effort the Moderating team puts into TPR should show we want this to be a success. Just remember this: Keep it fair, Folks. Other prizes will be coming up- this one just happens to be a real doozy. -

OK: Sixty points of -total- awesomenss for creating the 'funk-t-fied' Fugi-QUEUE element. Out-freakin-standing. Just out of curiosity: How did you 'bend' the element up to get the banking/track profile to match that? -

Coupon/D.J. I'm loving the two inverteds side by side- That actually works quite well, as they're completely different experiences- and the colors together are phenominal. Bright, Cheery and full of life! -
Mr. Smithers: Sir, I think he's died. Mr. Burns: AH, then send a ham to the Widow Simpson. Homer (In Spirit form): MMMMMMmmmmmm Ham Homer (Back to life): ARGERAERARERRFERAEGHHHH Mr. Smithers; He's alive again, sir! Mr. Burns: Oh, very well. Cancel the ham. Homer: Annoyed Grunt. (Sorry- I think I just lost the last bit of sanity... if anyone finds it, please let me know.) And I got the same P.M. this morning, Robb- I think he won't try that again.

Before we ban anyone, we are -very- careful to check out the circumstances, the background of the issue, and the evidence therein. It is then discussed with the Higher Powers at TPR, and Robb Alvey does the final decisions from there. R.D. Games forum Moderating Team -
thanks again, Robb- I'll be cleaning up those tracks, too-
