  1. It's interesting to see Sea World in that perspective- and it will become more so to see it over the next year while they build Manta. I'd be curious to see more pics of the River Rapids ride, though- as it's sort of a milestone ride for Sea World.
  2. Greetings from Arizona- I'm loving some of the models here, but is it possible for you to add the pictures in directly, instead of from Photobucket? All I'm seeing is their bandwidth exceeded pictures- and not the rides! 800x600 works great- and there are some nifty photo-resizers out there to allow you to post the pics directly from your computer to the site- as you're generating a ton of buzz, we'd really REALLY like to see them all! 3. Perfect. I love it- GO FOR IT! BTW: I really think we need to come up with a name for Crazy Park Manager- as he's going to be involved in the next TPR RCT II challenge...
  4. ^ and ^^ I'm a die-hard, tattooed with the logos, flagbearing, eagle-hugging, loudmouth Capitals Fan. As in: Gee, Rangers, Are you unable to score against the Capital Defense? Or is it just the Great Eight coming up to assist again? (BTW: GO CAPS!) Sports are not verboten from being queer- it's the stigma that you're not ALLOWED to be a sports fan that holds a lot of people from actually saying it. I know that I'd rather go to ESPN Zone than the Eagle any night. You'll find me at a Flogging Molly or Pietasters show, rather than clubbing the night away looking for 'pretty boys'. There is a huge advantage to being butch in life- as it means for many of us we've transcended the stereotype- and into a place where we CAN be ourselves.
  5. The Cheapest I ever remember paying for gas was in college- and that was .86 a gallon across the street from campus for about four months- and yet, I was cheap (HOW CHEAP WERE YOU!) I was SO Cheap that I'd put only four or five dollars in... all I needed it for was to get to BGW!
  6. Outstanding PTR- and love the shots of the River Rapids ride (I've always wondered where those vertical lift ones are- and now I know!) Looking forward to the NEXT Video Show- as they're great enterainment!
  7. Under the category of "Better late than Pregnant... Er..never" My TPR Bag Of Crap! First, this KICK-ASS envelope, with my NAME on it! oooh Envelope! REALLY cool lanyards- and VIP passes! Plus the -ever present TPR Pen (Which has now been to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego- and more cities to come! Lanyards and pens and mints, OH MY! The VIP credentials- MMMMmmm... Backstage Pass... aargaragrharharh A photo of the WC tour last year, plus some nifty other little things (I -swear- I'm going to wear the Evil Kinevil tattoo to SFStl my next trip there- just to mess with people's minds there. Is that... Robb in that picture? OK- I'll admit I'm a sucker for Theme Park Maps- simply as they're fodder for my imagination of what I can do in RCT II (See some of the RedLine Parks in the Games forum!)- so I was thrilled to see them... PLUS... there was a HUUUUGGGEEEE Easter egg in the HolidayPark pictures... Why, is that, Mr. Robb Alvey as part of their map? I think it is! Maps- And yet I can still get lost in the grocery store. And finally- a haunting reminder of a park before they blessed us with new trains- The BGT Howl-O-Scream 2009 Haunt Map. Spoooky...... but no new kitty on this one... Robb and Elissa- you guys ROCK! This was really cool to get- and I loved seeing the stuff inside. As for the rest: Remember, you can get one of these cool-ass TPR Bags of Crap playing the TPR Games Challenges- and other fun things, too! R.D.
  8. In Williams Arizona, two days ago: Captive Market Pricing. Scary, No?
  9. AF007 380Heavy: Get out of the f'ing way. ComAir 6692: Like hell we will AF007 380Heavy: You asked for it. CRASH
  10. I'm a night owl... so I can keep tabs (Hoot... hoot... hoot) Insomnia: Keeping TPR going for five years.
  11. A fixed dealine setup would be best- I.E. Contest starts at (example) 6PM on Tuesday- and continues till 12AM Monday (PDT/PST)- This is something that I did with the TPR Challenge I- and it might be best to standardize all of the contests to make our lives easier- and make it easier to remember for everybody. (Not to mention, it prevents confusion if we've got the TPR Challenge plus the TotW contest running)
  12. ^^ Highly unlikely. Boudreau has done more with the Caps than just about any coach in history- even more than Ron Wilson did, and certainly more than his predecessor. Running a team into the playoffs is a part of the deal- and a big one, too. But so is keeping the a's over the s's during the regular season- which Boudreau does quite well with one of the best looking teams (Play wise) on ice in the NHL. No, we're not the Starting Line of the Damned (1976 Flyers) or are we the 1980 USA Mens team... but the Caps are still one hell of a team to watch on home ice.. (I was a season ticket holder for 12 years- till I moved to the west)
  13. It looks like a hybrid of Drachen Fire (RIP) and the backwards inverted clone of Dominator. I like it.
  14. Oy. You are going to make me go bankrupt buying these things, ya know. Now I have to go out and get a Wii... SPONGEBOB ROCKS!
  15. West Valley Phoenix: Regular= Arm Mid-grade=Leg Premium= First Born Diesel= Your house (3.62 at the 'generic' stations; 3.70 otherwise)
  16. I'm terribly sad to see a work of The Master sitting in a field there waiting to be sold or re-assembled. It's a shame, too- as more often than not rides like that will end up as construction members to a high-rise someday... Very interesting TR there, too- I thoroughly enjoy seeing smaller parks like that displayed- as it reminds us that all parks are not SF, CF or SW/BG parks.
  17. AND THE WINNERS ARE: SoCal Coasters and nin! We had an interesting situation here: When the popular vote closed (the ones our members voted on) the Moderators had a chance to vote- and in the end it was a tie on both parts. So... THERE ARE TWO WINNERS! Congratulations to both of our contestants in this first TPR challenge. Here are the two winning parks: SoCalCoasters's Grand Gardens http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1751 and nin's Grand Gardens http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1724 Look for the next TPR Challenge next week... and get your NL skills ready- as Crazy Park Manager wants something REALLY special! R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team
  18. I've been thinking- which explains why we've got a pollution warning here in Phoenix today... Should I put a "Track of the Week" tab into the Exchange tabs button for sorting purposes? I think separating the two categories out (Totw and TPR Challenge) might be a faster way of sorting things out.
  19. You're a worse tease than my BF- and that says A LOT... I'm -beyond- looking forward to this- as I'm starting to re-learn a lot of my RCT III skills again- Plus, there's something beyond cool about the Bombardier monorails. (I'll be riding one in two days time up to the Sahara...) Any plans on re-creating the MK7s at DL, A.j.?
  20. Several thoughts come to mind of ^... 1.) Is he now Mickey MAOse? 2.) Do Mickey, Minnie and the rest carry around the little red book? I know- bad Socialist Humor... But it has to be said too-
  21. This is going to be either one of the best Playoff series in history- or one that will be a total bust... As for my Beloved (and I do mean that; I've got their logos tattooed on my back) Capitals- I can only hope they don't choke in the middle of the first series like they did last year against the Habs. Truly an embarrasing moment for me- and my Caps.
  22. Anton's coasters never seem to have that earwig honey crap on his seats. I wonder it that's one of the countless reasons they're so good to begin with?
  23. Two I've kept my eye on: Pacificcoasters' USS park looks astounding- He's been posting bits and pieces of his parks for a while now- but this one truly looks spectacular. (Not to mention, his Wooden Coaster entry for this week's contest is to drool over) and... You, Matt. I think your EPCOT needs to go up there (Especially for the old fogeys like me who enjoy 'vintage' parks)
  24. I've been using a different search engine- and I've pulled down all of Anton Schwarzkopf's patents, and I'm working on Karl Bacon/Edgar Morgan's series as well. The goal is to get all the patents up- and with more historical stuff on them- and there's a huge number of 'never ran' patents as well beyond the different ones you'll see focused here. There are also quite a few out there that I think we'll see in the future in parks- but those are for future posts! R.D.
  25. Ever wondered what the Corkscrew looked like before it was built? Does the idea of Anton Schwarzkopf's rides make you happy? Here's the thread for you. Doing some research on my own patents, I found a lot of the older patents in PDF form- so I'm going to be posting them every now and again for all to see. Here's the first installment of Roller Coaster and Ride patents. Our three for today are the first major developments in ride designs. The first is the mother of all coasters, the patent by Karl Bacon and Edgar Morgan for an Amusement Device in the form of a Bobsled: The original Matterhorn Bobsleds patent from 1955. US3167024.pdf The Morgan and Bacon patent for the Arrow Tubular Steel track Bobsled The second of today's batch of patents is that of Herr Schwarzkopf's Shuttle loop design- the original Flywheel Shuttle Loop patent from 1978. US4165695.pdf Schwarzkopf's First Shuttle Loop Patent And finally, a bit of Bolliger & Mabillard: The first B&M Inverted Coaster patent from 1993. US5272984.pdf B&M go inverted with this one. A word about these patents: They are public domain documents- and are for all to see. Over the next few weeks/months, I'll be posting more of these gems- as our history is tied into these devices! Enjoy, R.D.
