Quentin- it was a joke about the 'tolerant' straight people who are everything BUT... If there WAS a Straight pride parade, look at any city after they win a SuperBowl.

I will say the semi-finals are going to be far more interesting than the quarterfinals were; at least for me. Caps v. Tampa: Easy: Caps want blood for what Tampa did to them in the playoffs 2003- and they want it bad. Tampa is riding an ego streak that is bound to fail, especially in the PP area. As for the other's: I'm not quite sure how to boil it down. I know there will be a lot of bad blood in the remaining six teams; I know that it's going to be a very vicious series- and I'd bet we're going to see plenty of sin bin time- especially of the Caps. -
You know, some of my best friends are straight, and I don't object to their lifestyle choices at all. So long as they don't do anyting around me. Hell, I've even marched in a Straight Pride parade. (Sorry- I couldn't resist... And in all reality- my closest friend is straight.)

ADD's not too bad... so long as I keep it in control- If not, it's nasty; Robb, you think I'm annoying now? It gets pretty awful- as in: I can't think straight. (Yeah, go ahead. You all are THINKING the joke.) It's these 14 year old kids who think they know MORE than me that really piss me off. Please. i was playing RCT II before your parents had too much to drink and made that horrible mistake of not stopping at CVS that night. -
That's sort of what I did with the first RCT II challenge: I played it myself for functionality before I posted it- I figure, if I could solve it within a certain period, others would be able to solve it as well. I don't want the challenges to be so hard people go "no" to them and walk away- at least not now. In the future, however, I've toyed with the idea of having a mulit-leveled challenge in the future- that is, a 'basic' level and an 'advanced' level of a scenario. Why? well, so the 'advanced' players (CS, 'realism' types) could have one solution- and the 'basic' players would have another. I'm not quite ready to put that into motion yet, as I'm still working out the kinks of the process. Not to mention, that's going to require some time to develop outright. I'm seeing some motion on the NL scenario now that it's getting out and there's good word with it- the extention of time should really help drive this a bit further.
-
Good call on the UserGroup, Robb- I'm working the challenge now to see 'how it works'- my NL skills are for crap; still learning how to do it right, I'm afraid, but I like the concept behind the challenge myself. It's very challenging, however, for me- but I'm chalking that up to being a noob at NL more than anything. Perhaps asking the contestants after the challenge closes for feedback (at least for the time being) would allow us to gauge the 'difficulty' level of these things?
-
Sorry for being 'late' to chime in on this (Busy day here in Airlineland) If they complain about the a RCT II challenge being to difficult- they get two weeks. The complexity level of NL (For me at least) is over the top- so a week-extension, I think, is a good thing. I'm also repeating it in chat as well- just to get people to look at it, and it's gotten some good buzz. Hopefully, this will light a fire under people's asses to get moving. Perhaps a 'parody' ad would get some attention here- such as: "TPR Enters a time warp. And the result is one more week to compete in the TPR April Challenge." or "The IRS gave you four more days this year. We're better than that. Here's seven more to get your TPR April Challenge in." I'll keep screaming about it in chat- just to keep things moving on that end.

Redline Park [RCT2]
QueerRudie replied to QueerRudie's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
RLP Omaha, Phase Ib Construction- and start of Phase IIa construction: RLP Omaha is ready to branch out- literally- with an extension of the park's midways to the west of the entry plaza, along the southern side of the park. This extension is intended to start the gradual process of 'looping' the lake, and is the foundation for adding themed areas in the future, including those where larger-scale and more custom built rides will go. But first, we needed to create a basic 'midway loop' of the park. This was an easy step, and actually serves two purposes: 1.) It doubles the midway path space for higher guest capacities, and 2.) gives four more mounting points for large-scale/high capacity attractions to be added. Since this area is intended for redevelopment in the future (After the lake loop is completed), scenery is basc, matching the standards of the existing area. Two new 'major' attractions were added: The first is an old favorite of the RLP Chain: An Arrow extended corkscrew, in the "Turn of the Century format. SCR15.BMP Turn of the Century. Would SOMEBODY please re-build this fantastic ride? In addition to the ToC, a Tilt-a-Whirl and a go-Cart (Known as Autopia) were added to the mix. These smaller attractions are geared to the local market, and to appease the need for more family-friendly rides and attractions. SCR16.BMP Overhead, looking northeast. ToC is at the top, with Roundabout (Tilt-a-Whirl) and Autopia (Go-Carts) in the middle of the loop. The other major attraction is a wooden twister in the GCI style, known as ThunderBolt. This coaster is designed to relieve capacity issues, as it's 3000 pph and large queuehouse keeps people moving. SCR17.BMP ThunderBolt- our new wooden twister. With these new attractions opened, an overview is due. SCR18.BMP Overview of Phase I construction: Complete. Not a park to rest on it's laurels, Phase IIa construction is started. This extention of the midways to the west is a bit more challenging, as the existing SpeedRacer Coaster occupies part of the land to the north of the midway. A Chance Chaos is added, and the area to the south of the midway is being used for the park's first major custom-attraction. SCR19.BMP The midway extention for Phase IIa and IIb. For RLP Omaha's first major custom attraction, a log flume was decided on. Contracting for the ride from Arrow Development, the park decided to go over the top with it, giving it a full-theme and matching special effects. SCR20.BMP Our new baby: An Arrow Log flume, without it's coverings. Land was used to build some aspects of the ride, and building structures were added for the rest of it. Most of the ride itself is fully enclosed- and portions of the journey go through scenic effects. Two turnaround tables rotate riders both back and forward. Dark sections, including a backwards in the dark drop, plus fire and mine effects complete a ride on... Hades Mountain Mining Co. SCR21.BMP Themed up, ready to go- Hades Mountain Mining Co. B.A.B: the ride never made it into production, so no working model is belived to exist- nor was a prototype track assembled. -
Thinking ahead to May's Challenge- I figured a way to really blow things out it with it is using one of TPR's 'imfamous' characters to put some oomph behind it- Prince Desmond- and teh Big Dipper- A Scenario has been assembled around Teh Big Dipper, and I figured a set of Big Dipper coasters- and perhaps an autograph by Prince Desmond would get more interest- at least from TPR as a whole. As for the ToTW contest... I'm seeing a lot more interest- and 'plussing' it with other RCT II/III and NL track types I think is working quite well. I'm pleased with the outcome so far, despite the quantity of idiots in it... Once FasTrack is ready, I think we could start to use it to promote the contests with greater interest- I've got two models I'm toying with for it- but still 'tweaking' the final loyalty results... BTW: I issued Tiger01 a warning today; He's becoming a more persistant thorn in my side.

WOOOHOOO!!! I'll get my tazer ready... Plus my pepper spray, my riding crop and my Barry Manilow CDs. IF that doesn't work: I'll threaten them with having to watch Judge Judy for 24 hours straight, while a Deaf Siamese cat screams...

It is still entirely feasable we could see this element again- as with track design being more computer oriented nowadays, I'm sure that Intamin or Gerstlauer could do this... especially the latter, with it's flexible train design. I would love to see this happen- as it's a great element, and for a place such as China, where the number 8 is signifigant, that could be a huge deal! R.D. -
I'm digging the RCT II Log Flume idea... it's a new concept, and it really could get people to think outside of the box.
-
Honestly, after the amount of crap people pulled in this contest, I'd rather stick with something someone's put together 'naturally' rather than 'repeatedly cheating' their way into the contest... We have so many fewer contestants after the 'banfest' of the weekend, that it's going to be tough- but if I had a vote to cast in this, I like SoCalCoaster's entry- it's novel, it's got decent theming, it's different, and most of all: It wasn't put together quickly.

Dbru- As far as I remember (and that's saying a -LOT- as it's been nearly 20 years since I remember reading about it last!) the Figure 8 Looping was around 150-160 feet tall; granted, that's a rough, ROUGH memory of it. B.A.B. - If you read the link I posted to Shane's Amusement Attic, that's the prototype in Mountain View- before it was taken down and moved to Knott's Berry Farm. It's the complete circuit, but those with Sherlock Holmes eyes can see some changes were made to it prior to it's arrival in Buena Park. R.D. -
LOL- I was wondering how long it would take for him to do just that... One down, 6,999,999,999 more idiots to go.
