  1. What she said. Except... -- 11 were new to me [sFGAm, Mt Olympus, Timber Falls, Riverview, Indiana Beach, Holiday World, SFKK, Kennywood, Idlewild, Lakemont, DelGrosso's] -- 3 were old and contained no new credits for me [PCW, PKI, SFDL] -- I forget how many new credits I got, probably around 50ish -- missed two credits [sFGAm Deja Vu, Mt Olympus Dive to Atlantis] Tentative plans for seven parks later in the year [sFNE, La Ronde, Great Escape, Lake Compounce, Marineland, Santa's Village, Seabreeze] which would give me just over 30 new credits [and I'd break 200!!!]. So yay and stuff.
  2. But CP has both better operations and better rides. Cedar Point ftw
  3. Just wondering one more thing: If we go to SFNE on, say, August 23 [Wed] and August 24 [Thu], would it be wise of us to purchase a fast pass? We're mainly looking to first get on everything, and then worry about re-rides. Would a fastpass be the best way of going about this, or would the crowds be thin enough that one isn't necessary? Thanks again for all the help.
  4. www.blackhawkmotel.com is where it's at. It's location is a bit "out of the way" from the main attractions strip, which is both good and bad, in that it's more quiet, but you'll have to drive to get to the parks. However, it is located just a bit away from the "tourist spots" which sell all the t-shirts and souvenirs. There's also some mini-golf and quite a few restaurants. I think we paid just over $150 for three nights. The place has a fridge/microwave in every room, a DVD player, and it's really roomy. So yeah, I should work for them or something. And everything else has basically been covered. If you're in to vegetarian cuisine, the Cheese Factory restaurant is a good place to check out. It's located in someone's house, basically, the menu is a bit thin but there are a LOT of interesting things on it.
  5. MOUNTAIN mouNtain SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN MOUNTAIN You see this: "N"? That's an "n"! It goes between the U and the T on MOUNTAIN. WOW!!! It's not *that* difficult, is it? I guess I expect too much from an Avenged Sevenfold fan. MOUNTAIN
  6. If you're referring to the original poster, this review was posted in August of 2005 - well before Goliath was in the park
  7. Just wondering, how much did the gold fast pass thing cost? And is it worth getting, or is waiting in line a better option? Also, good report. I always like reading about what people think of a new coaster to properly gauge my expectations. Yours is the first review that didn't spew about how amazingly awesome and better than everything else and omg wickid the coaster was.
  8. I can't believe I got the Wonderland one wrong. I saw the Top Gun logo and immediately assumed it was Carowinds, despite the fact that PCW has the only Top Gun SLC and clearly the picture is an SLC. Man I feel dumb.
  9. Hey what's wrong with PETA? Someone has to stick up for animals. And way to steal our joke, pal! Good pictures, nonetheless. Looks as though this was once a nice park, now forced to become the suck.
  10. I've had my ears each pierced [left one three times], but I have no pictures with them and they're gone now. I've had my eyebrow pierced [two times at the same time on the right side]. And I currently have three rings in my lip. The middle one is about four years old, the other two are three. None of them really caused much problems. I mean obviously you have the dull stinging afterwards, and it was kind of difficult to sleep on my right side until the eyebrow piercings healed. It also was a pain in the arse to eat for a week or so after I got the lip rings. Forks also tend to get stuck there if you're not careful. But now it's like they're an extension of my face. 'Course everyone still looks at me like I'm a freak, but I guess that's to be expected.
  11. Yes, Misery Signals plus anything is excellent! Well I mean maybe not mass genocide, but you get the picture. PS. This is a semi-shameless bump But I didn't get a chance to respond to this post beforehand so... shhhhhhhhhh.
  12. Thanks, larry. All of that will be very helpful. Any clues on what the crowds will be like or were your visits out of this timeframe? From what I've been told, La Ronde only operates one train on every coaster - is this true?
  13. 3 - Shivering Timbers 2 - Hades 1 - Voyage Honourable mention to Avalanche, Lightning Racer, and Phoenix.
  14. For some reason, I want to say HersheyPark, even though our experience there was less-than-awesome and we didn't exactly find any of the coasters to be mindblowing. But I just don't want to vote against Kennywood, at which we had a great time and which had a top ten coaster in Phantom's Revenge. I was quite pleasantly surprised to realize that I have been to all of the parks listed here. My count is rising to respectable levels! [ps i did not vote]
  15. ...did you guys do the Wisconsin Dells and SKIP Avalanche? If so, you're nuts, as it would easily have been one of the top woodies on the trip. It's just flat out insanity! Good report, though. I like reading about people with limited credits upping their counts
  16. Ghoster Coaster at PCW.
  17. So in late-August we're going on another trip, this time to hit up a bunch of Six Flags-owned parks in the north east. Here's the itinerary: SUN Aug 20 - Drive to La Ronde + evening at La Ronde MON Aug 21 - La Ronde TUE Aug 22 - Drive to The Great Escape+ The Great Escape + drive to Enfield, CT WED Aug 23 - Six Flags New England THU Aug 24 - Six Flags New England FRI Aug 25 - Lake Compounce SAT Aug 26 - Drive from Enfield, CT to Rochester, NY SUN Aug 27 - SeaBreeze, drive from Rochester, NY to Vaughan, ONT Now, I've done a bit of research on lodging and I think we're set for our hotels. However, if anyone has any experience with the Sandman in Montreal, the Motel 6 in Enfield [just south of the CT/MA border], or the ExtendedStay in Henrietta [Rochester], then let us know! What I'm mainly wondering is, what kinds of crowds should we expect? We're trying to do the parks later in the summer to maybe avoid the major crowds, however this is about the best weekend to do it, as it's the weekend before Labour Day, and anything after that conflicts with my girlfriend's school schedule and thus can't be done. So what kind of crowds are we looking at here? Also, what are some can't-miss flat rides at these parks? Obviously every coaster is on our "to-do" list, but what about flat rides? We generally won't experiment unless they look too cool to pass up, and we normally by-pass generic rides - but if we're going to be missing a crazy program or cycle, then let us know! Thanks a bunch y'all.
  18. Well we both wanted to ride Avatar, but the line was really long and we were on a limited timeframe. I enjoyed Vortex enough last time, but again, line was really long and it wasn't on our to-do list. I also really messed up my knee last time I was on it [i smacked it on the front of the car when I popped out of my seat heading up the second hill]. It was fun but DAAAAAAAAAAMN was it painful. Kinda ruined the rest of the ride and soured me on re-rides.
  19. Usually parks will shut down all rides, especially coasters, when there are reports of lightning in the area. However maybe this isn't the case for smaller parks, as I've only ever seen it happen in big chain parks.
  20. Firstly, make sure you give yourself enough time to get rest between parks. Trying to do a bunch of parks day after day, especially with late nights and lots of driving, without getting rest is a terrible idea and will leave you absolutely exhausted, and possibly short-tempered and unable to fully enjoy the experience. It also makes for a really long run-on sentence. Also, if you're printing out directions, MAKE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK THEM if possible. Check them against the directions from the official park sites. This goes for hotels, as well. For the parks you're going to, I'd give at least one day to most of them. If you haven't been to any of them and are a credit whore and expect to be on every coaster at every park, but also want re-rides on the good ones, two-day stays are a must at Cedar Point, Great Adventure, and HersheyPark. What days are you planning to come over + what days do you think you'll be at the parks? Planning around weekends to avoid crowds is a must, especially since most of the parks you're going to seem like they're very heavily attended [Cedar Point, PKI, HersheyPark, Great Adventure], so be sure to plan accordingly. I've been to a bunch of the parks [CP, PKI, PKD, BGW, Indiana Beach, Holiday World, Kennywood, Knoebel's, Hershey], so I could probably help further if you have more detailed questions. Er... but you probably know most of this stuff anyway. I hope I'm some sort of help though!
  21. It's an Arrow looper at MarineLand in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. It's been operating for 23 years now. http://rcdb.com/id185.htm There's the RCDB profile for it. It's pretty long, and really uses the terrain well. It seems slow and forceless, however, and man the lift hill takes forever to get up. Despite it only being about an hour and twenty minutes away, I've never been on this coaster. Maybe it's something to do with the park costing $40 a damn visit. Ugh. Not worth it for a single credit [i have the Tivoli credit].
