  1. Son of Beast at PKI or Raging Wolf Bobs at Geauga Lake. Both were TERRRRRIBLE. Predator at SFDL is on this list as well. As is the boomerang at Geauga Lake. God they sucked.
  2. Before I went on SOB, I probably would've considered the news "good" as well. But after having ridden it...
  3. How do you know how whoa_killa thinks of his rodents? Did he make a statement saying that he thought they weren't important to him and his dog is so much better? I fail to see what gives you the impression that he feels that they're "one step up from a flushable". The dog opens the door, knocks the cage over, kills the guineas. I fail to see how whoa_killa himself could have prevented this. They live in seperate rooms, the dog doesn't come into the guineas' room, they're seperated and watched. Just because the dog happened to open the door doesn't make whoa_killa a terrible person or a hater of rodents. I understand your viewpoint - especially about the being careful and doing research. I hate when people get animals and just assume they know how to take care of them without doing any background. But perhaps whoa_killa did do research, and found that guinea pigs need to be seperated from dogs/cats in different rooms. Not different households. Because that's what most sites say. And I'm not trying to be an ass or get myself banned or anything like that, so don't take this as a "You're wrong, I'm right, die!" post, because it's not meant to be.
  4. It would've added a day we can't afford to add! We'll just hit it up next year!
  5. I'm really sorry for your loss, woah_killa! I'd like to make a joke in reference to your screen name in relating to your dog, but I think I will refrain! And I can also add that I've seen instances of rodents + bigger animals like dogs or cats being friends, playing with each other. My friend was telling me the other day about how her dad's cousin has guinea pigs and a rabbit along with two cats. Since he works a LOT, the animals rarely get any time to play outside of their cages, so one of the cats tends to open the cages herself and let the other animals out to roam around. While this obviously isn't the safest tactic, it's been happening for so long that all of the animals get along with one another and can play in peace for hours without any harm coming. It's like a little happy family. So while yes, it isn't safe for this to be happening, especially unsupervised, it's not always a terrible thing that will result in multiple deaths or a life filled with fear and loathing.
  6. I've only been to PKI once [last May, late May near the time you're going]. And be warned, since you're going mid-week, the park may be in a limited operations day where not all rides are operating. We got shanked by one of these unadvertised days last year and only about half the park was operating, if that. Near the end of the day more rides start to open up but for the time we were there it was basically one long frustrating "RIDE CLOSED" after another. Fortunately we had gone the previous day and everything was operational, so we just missed re-rides and some flats [most notably Tomb Raider and Delerium]. Anyways, Face-Off, as with any boomerang, will always have huge lines, especially since it's one of the first coasters you encounter when you enter the park. So hitting that one first thing in the morning might be a good idea. Italian Job is another one that will likely have a big line and has no capacity so it might be another one you want to hit early. Outer Limits is the other one, but if it's a hot day then waiting in the air conditioned queue might be a nice way to cool off. Otherwise, most of the coasters are pretty good with capacity. Top Gun was really speedy when we were there, as was Vortex and Adventure Express. Rebel Yell's loading times were slow but the capacity is enough that it won't result in massive waits. Beast was pretty fast. You're definately going to want to check out the Eiffel Tower for it's views, as well as Drop Zone and Delerium. I assume Tomb Raider is a must-ride as well but since I didn't go on it, I can't say for certain. As for rides you should be wary of, outside of SOB there aren't really any standout terrible coasters. Beast is, as was pointed out, terribly rough but it can be somewhat avoided with the proper choice of seats. Vortex resulted in a swollen and bruised knee when I smacked it into the train going up the second hill, but that's probably an isolated incident. Otherwise, everything is relatively smooth that I can remember. And I, as well as my girlfriend, found Adventure Express to be the most enjoyable ride there. It's not big or particularly "good" in the traditional sense, but we had so much damn fun riding it. I think the theming is really bad, but bad in a hilarious way, which added to our amusement. The ending is probably the most hilarious thing ever, as well. Hope this helped a bit.
  7. Yeah I noticed, it's a nice selection of parity right there That or the west's top teams just weren't very good. BUF/CAR brought us two of the best games all season [their final two meetings in Buffalo], and so hopefully this series will not disappoint. And Edmonton, well I just hope they keep their momentum going in game six, but San Jose will likely come out with Nabokov... so he could potentially steal a game for them and force it to seven. GO OILERS!
  8. Hostel 5/10. What the hell was the point of this movie? I guess the gore, of which there really wasn't much. Some of the cinematography was nice, but the storyline and dialogue really sucked. And Jay Hernandez sucks, too. Mystery, Alaska 7/10. Good hockey movie. Amusing storyline, decent acting, nothing great but still fun to watch.
  9. The Teriyaki Experience is awesome, I love that place.
  10. Wow that park looks like an absolute dump. And look at those credits, they all look like kiddie coasters. What a crappy place.
  11. Thank you! Glad someone noticed this one. Used to be a lot of fun, gave a few pops of airtime. By no means was it world class, but it's re-rideability was a lot higher, and the ride itself was a lot more enjoyable. Now, it's rough and slooooooooooow.
  12. Yeah but the entrance is nowhere near where it's visible When I was working at the ex-Video Making place that's right next to it, I can't even count the number of times people asked where that "cool spinning thing" was. It wasn't on the map, for one thing, and people could see it from one spot but it's a long trek to turn around and actually go find the entrance.
  13. Very true. But I'd take a drinking bird ride over a stunt show.
  14. Is there a reason why they're taking out Sol Loco, or are they just doing it because it's old and in a bad location? I notice it's pretty shaky, but it's one of the few giant orbiters I've seen ever and it'd suck if they lost it to the scrap heap. It's such a great ride for molesting my girlfriend on.
  15. We went on Dragon Fire and the ride was quick quick through, no stacking. The crew was really fast. But uh it wasn't like that for any other coaster. Especially on Minebuster, and even the usually-speedy Vortex. And there are always lots of trendwhores who show up at Wonderland, mainly due to the location in the park [right next door to a rich neighbourhood and near a few upscale areas]. It gets much worse in the summer. Especially when the 12 year olds who think they're 20 show up.
  16. Your pictures are top notch, even the Exclusive Pictures! The one of Vortex as a maze of track is really neat. I think it actually looks better without a train flying through. I also find it funny that my girlfriend immediately associated you with TPR by the way you were taking pictures on Wild Beast. We were both hoping to see a PTR from you
  17. ^ It didn't hurt because we sat at the front of the coaster in a non-wheel seat, so it's a lot less rough. Had we sat at the back, it would've been considerably worse. Which is why I picked that seat You should post the crappy POV of Vortex Vortex looks awesome with the new paintjob, and the picture of Vortex coming down the first drop is my favourite picture either of us has taken of a coaster. I'm pretty sure the purple train on Wild Beast got new wheels, it was zipping along quite nice. The entrance to the fan-turn also got re-tracked, I believe. Ghoster Coaster got some new track as well. And so begins the summer of fun!!!
  18. www.ratethedells.com is a good place to get info on the Dells. Has a good list of restaurants, tons of hotels with pictures and reviews, including staffer reviews. Here's a review of the Pleasant View Motel from there: "Not a bad place if you are 4 young friends because you can go to familyland free. Not good for a family. Room was ok except the carpet was so dirty our feet turned black after you walked on it. Room was never vacummed and we were there 5 days. Water in familyland and pleasant view is ice cold so go on a 90+ decree day or you will freeze." We're going to the Dells later this month, and we're staying at the Black Hawk Motel. www.blackhawkmotel.com The rates are very cheap [$55/$65 for a king room with a fridge, microwave, DVD/CD player, and other stuff], and the reviews I've read are all positive. It's also right off of the main strip, so you can probably walk to many of the attractions or restaurants in the area. Here's the tripadvisor revews for the hotel, and here's the Rate the Dells reviews of it.
  19. ^ They're doing it again this year, and it has seperate entrance fees again this year. I live about 10 minutes from Wonderland, so I go often. I really dislike how much corporate shilldom goes on, but I guess it's a big chain park so it "has" to have it. I preferred it when it was in it's infancy stages of being a Paramount park, or pre-Paramount. But it's not bad. It's a good way to kill an afternoon. I'll be there on Friday!
  20. We went to William's Grove to ride the Cyclone. And it was raining. It took us forever to find the place [the sign which said "TURN HERE" was covered by shrubbery], and when we did and we finally got in - nothing was running. We waited over an hour, and no, they weren't going to open Cyclone. So we were there, sitting in the train - and nothing. No ride. And now it's gone. WORST. MORNING. EVER.
  21. In Mick Foley ["Mankind"]'s second book [he has quite a few, all of which have been bestsellers and many of which were critically acclaimed], he actually has top ten lists of favourite coasters, parks, non-coaster rides, and waterparks. He's a huge coaster nut. And WOW, WRESTLING IS "FAKE"? I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED. THANK YOU FOR ENLIGHTENING ME.
  22. Volcano was a real letdown. I just missed riding it in '98 when it first opened, and had to wait seven years to get another chance at it. And it was going along well, I enjoyed - and then it just ENDED. There was nothing to it. Booo. Great Bear is another one I was looking forward to and then it disappointed. It was like, loop, heartline, bunch of turns, done. Nothing! Bah. Storm Runner was good but I was expecting a lot more. For whatever reason I thought it was longer and did more stuff. It also ended going downhill, which is really anti-climatic.
  23. We're going to be there on 06/06/06!
  24. I should be heading there this summer, hopefully it doesn't suck!
