Is anybodys home park their favorite?
307 replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
PCW is my home park, and it's probably... fourth or fifth on favourite parks list [CP, IOA, BGW definately ahead of it, possibly BGT ahead of it as well]. Hopefully it'll drop a lot further by June 11th. -

Insect-a-Slide at Wild Adventures made me laugh when I first heard it. Top Chill Snowcones and Race For the Fry at Cedar Point. COME ON, THOSE ARE AWESOME PUNS. But they aren't rides.. so maybe they don't count. Unfortunately I can't think of anymore. -

Oh I was looking forward to going on this on our trip to TGE later this year. And my girlfriend was REAAAAAALLY looking forward to it. Credit down the drain. -
It's located at WWE Niagra Falls - and was open for only a couple of weeks, before being shut down by the safety board. It hasn't been up and running since then - and that was a couple of years ago

I saw a mock-up movie poster for this and was immediately drawn to the trailer, which made me want to see it even more. I can't wait for this! "WE GOT MOTHAF'IN' SNAKES!"

Six Flags Lake Side [RCT2]
307 replied to pepsie's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I think the park looks nice, although the update with Canyon Blaster and Goliath was a huge contrast to the first update, just because it was so randomly "extreme" compared to the original update which was more laid back and had a relaxed feel to it. The supports on Goliath may be going a bit overboard, but otherwise the place looks nice. The only problem I see is that it's waaaaay too small of a map to be a Six Flags park. Then again, the Great Escape isn't really big and yet - it's a Six Flags. -
Inca Ruins [RCT2]

Looks really good. The coasters look a bit cluttered, and it kind of looks like you're trying to jam too much scenery and theming into too small of a place - but if you're going for a jungle/rainforest feel, then you've done a very good job of it! Can you post another overview of the park so we can get an idea of how much space is left? -
Paramount's Xtreme (RCT2+WW Park)
307 replied to zburns999's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Really awesome work so far. The only thing I would change is the name "Paramount Xtreme" seems.. uh.. well, like not a good name -
I saw Elizabethtown on Friday. It wasn't very good. The entire thing just reeks of "Here, have some cheese and love." and basically an excuse to put Dunst and Bloom together. Plus, some of the scenes were really unrealistic and there are way too many questions left unanswered with the crappy lovey-dovey ending.

"Open Hands to the Wind" - hopesfall Lyrics: Nothing can be obtained by grasping at the wind. There is no escape from the dualism of life. Vanity of vanities.. I'm embittered towards humanity for it's failures, yet I posess all of these same shortcomings. There is grief in wisdom, sorrow in truth. Yet the heart of the wise is in the house of mourning And by a sad countenance, the heart is made stronger in time. So I embrace this burden and weep for those who grasp at the wind.

"The Use of a Weapon" - Between the Buried and Me Lyrics: In your city built with concrete and lies, we have slaved away so lifeless. With every breath a compromise, so sickened by your process and our pain. Plagued by the fear of tomorrow: another day in vein, we can throw all this away! Trading our sorrow for sin. We can throw all this away! We can throw all this away! For too long we have starred. For too long we have stayed so blind to every instinct, as you paved the way. So, tomorrow we will take back every year you stole from us, and every night silently desperate and hopeless. Every dream never realized, and every tear shed from these eyes. We will sin and you will suffer. We will set fire to your machines. We will put life back into hearts and you will suffer. We will run life through our veins and you will suffer. Passion will be found in time, and your world will fall behind us. Under your dark polluted skies, we may live as the damned. But our essence and soul and freedom will unfold. And only in death shall we see the end. For as long as the light of the sun still dances across every sea, we will know there is something to live and die for, and we will know every breath to be free. For as long as the light of the sun still dances across every sea, we'll know each breath to be free.

We've only been to CP about 10 times [four trips].. but the times we've went have all been very good, crowd-wise. We went May 16, 17, 18 last year, and the only crowds were school groups doing projects. We went back a couple weeks later, and it was more of the same. The lines are a bit longer than empty, but nowhere near what we'd expect you to get during the busy months of late-June, July, and August. Although, our first trip to the Point was in August 2004, and the lines were almost non-existant for everything other than MF and TTD. You also have to know when to hit the rides. ie: Doing Raptor anytime in the morning is nuts, since it's usually the first ride people hit upon entering the park. During the later part of the afternoon, lines can be non-existant. Our trip to CP in September was met with little to no crowds both days we were there. It was like May without the school groups. Again, MF was the only ride with a line [TTD wasn't open either day]. For PKI, we went in late-May 2005, and lines were actually pretty big. We went on a Monday and Tuesday, and still had to wait fairly long for every ride. The second day, however, was an unadvertised "limited operation" day and only about half the rides were open, which we found pathetic. And Geauga Lake - we went in 2004, and it was empty. Completely empty. Depressingly empty. Waldameer Park is good for a stop, it's near Erie, PA. It doesn't have a lot of coasters or rides, but I thought it was a fun little park and a good way to kill a few hours. Plus it has an awesome spinning mouse and an ACE classic, the Comet.

Once I deciphered your netspeak, I got some good tips out of it. Thanks!
-
We've altered the trip to include Little A-Merrick-A on our trip from Wisconsin Dells to Indiana Beach, since that will occur on a Sunday and shouldn't take too long. We've also added PKI on our way from SFKK to Kennywood - but only for an hour or two, to get a ride on Avatar as well as ADVENTURE EXPRESS~! and possibly the Beast, Outer Limits or something. DelGrosso's is on our radar as well, probably on the last day before we drive home. Anymore tips are appreciated You guys have been a big help thus far!
-
Haha, I noticed that on our way from SFKK to KW, we drive right past PKI, literally. Unfortunately, our budget is tight enough that, even with Paramount passes, we can't afford the extra night's lodging to stay. Plus, we've been to PKI before and weren't impressed But thanks for the tip. To get to HW, we're basically taking I-65 South to around Louisville and then doing I-64 West to Santa Claus. Thanks a lot guys, this stuff is really, really helpful. If anyone else has anything to say, even reenforcement of rides/attractions to do that have already been said, don't be shy!
-
Thanks for the tips guys. Unfortunately, Beech Bend and the park that ParkTrips mentioned won't be added to the itinerary [budget is tight as is]. Any more tips on hotels in the general areas?
-
Okay, so, here's what we're thinking of doing in May: May 24 Wed -> Driving from Toronto to Gurnee/SFGAm evening May 25 Thu -> SFGAm/driving to Wisconsin Dells May 26 Fri -> Mt. Olympus May 27 Sat -> Timber Falls May 28 Sun -> Driving to Indiana Beach May 29 Mon -> Indiana Beach/driving to Santa Claus May 30 Tue -> Holiday World May 31 Wed -> Driving to Louisville/SFKK June 1 Thu -> Driving to Pittsburgh June 2 Fri -> Kennywood June 3 Sat -> Driving/Idlewild/Driving/Lakemont June 4 Sun -> Driving back to Toronto Now, we basically know the parks off-hand, what rides they have, what coasters they have, etc etc. We also have road maps of everything already so we know approximately how long it will take to get wherever. But basically, we're looking for outside opinions on what rides we can't miss [outside of coasters], and what rides we should avoid at all costs. We like flat rides, but have no problem dismissing them if we run out of time. However, if there are flat rides that people find excellent, we would like to know so we know which ones to hit. Secondly, if there are any can't miss eateries around these areas or on the way to these areas, we'd like you guys to tell us! We know you all love eating [and hey, we do too], so we're looking for excellent places to consume foodstuffs that won't cost us an arm and a leg. Finally, and most importantly, we need help with hotels. To be a bit more specific, we're looking for the lowest price possible BUT with reputable rooms. Extracirricular business like room service, pools, continental breakfast aren't important. What's important to us is a clean room with decent showers and soft beds. Also, I've had little to no luck finding hotels around Indiana Beach or Holiday World, and I'm overcome by the sheer amounts of hotels in Gurnee and Louisville. So anyone who has experience with these places, please give us your hotel tips, and places you've enjoyed or not enjoyed! Thanks a ton, all help is much appreciated! -- Jer [lolz post #69~! rofl!!!1]

Photo TR: Ron Francis Jersey Retirement Night
307 replied to Jonathan's topic in Random, Random, Random
Thanks for that, Jonathan. Francis was always really underrated, never mentioned with the greats of the game, despite being fourth on the all-time points list [ahead of Lemieux!] and a consistant 20 goal scorer [until his final year]. I wasn't impressed with his short, short stint in Toronto, but I was honoured to have been able to watch him play. For sure a first ballot Hall of Famer! And how about those 'Canes this year? Who would've thunk it, eh? -
War of the Worlds was a terrible movie. I've had a few MSN conversations about it recently, and here they are. Jer says: Me: "If they had studied the planet and found it suitable for relocation of their species, wouldn't they KNOW that it had bacteria that would kill them?" Her: "No, they studied human life to see if they could be easily killed." Me: "So they annihilated the planet but knew absolutely nothing about it? How exactly does that make them a higher species? It makes them stupid!" Jer says: And basically all it is is Tom Cruise and that annoying brat running from aliens. Jer says: And aliens blow things up. Jer says: And then they die. Jer says: But through no fault of Cruise or brat does this happen. Jer says: So they just run around. Jer says: And then stop running. Jer says: The end. --- Jer says: "The aliens invade the earth but in the end their own stupidity kills them. Watch Tom Cruise and an annoying brat run from them for two hours before resuming their lives. Here are some cool effects." Jer says: You'd think a super-advanced alien race who plan to take over earth for their new resort planet would do some studying and realize "Durr the planet has BACTERIA WHICH KILLS US." Jer says: It's not exactly rocket science for a species which can develop technology like the stuff that's shown in the movie. --- I HATE THIS DAMN MOVIE.

I hopped on the bandwagon during the win against Indy last week.. so yay I guess.
