Really, the thrill and rush are gone for you? I just love riding the coasters. It's a whole lot of fun. It helps me to get my mind off of things that may be annoying me in my life, and hell if you need to scream, why not do it on a coaster? The rush and excitement are still there for me on some coasters and rides in general. Basically it's just awesome.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Good work, HW. I was annoyed as hell with our visit, but by the end of it was still ready to go back for more [and will, next year]! Hopefully the attendance continues rising. -
Forget that, the steep hills at Mt Olympus are INSANE to try and walk up and down repeatedly. UGHHH For such a small park, those kills... make you feel like you've been walking all damn day.

I didn't, though I'm willing to give it a second chance. Nice pics, especially the Knoebel's ones. Too bad about the blur factor at Dorney! I really liked Talon, I thought it was very underrated. I think it may have been because my expectations were fairly low, as I had kept hearing about how mediocre the coaster was. It turned out to be a great amount of fun, and by far my favourite at the park. I remember liking Hydra, but not too much. It's probably a solid seven, at best. Dorney is a park with a bunch of rides/coasters that are okay -> good, but not worthy of going out of your way for. However, I do look forward to one day returning - maybe next year with our Maxx Passes! -
Coasters you have been on that are gone now

Scooby Doo @ PKI Python @ BGA [...well, it'll be gone soon] Nightmare @ SFNE I think that's it for me. -
Nice trip report! I was dying for some Sonic on our New England trip, and it really annoyed me that they have no Sonics in any state bordering Canada... nor do they have any in New England. So I have to wait 'till next year's trips to get me any Sonic goodness We need to get to Carowinds next year! That place looks semi-awesome. Your hotels and that one beach picture both looked awesome. Jealous? I THINK SO.

307 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So if they're used as "feed" for something, why can't humans eat them? They're going to be produced for *someone* to eat. What makes it more savage that a human does it instead of a bat or something? -
Man, that CoasterBuzz topic really annoyed the crap out of me. Guy 1 "Here's my story. I pulled out an ACE card! LOLZ WHAT A MORON THAT GUY WAS." Guy 2 "You're the moron, you stupid fat acer! Eat more brownies!" Guy 3 "Yeah what an idiot, talking about how you like coasters to the general public! What's wrong with you? I *never* do that!!!" Guy 4 "Talking about coasters in public, especially in a place where there are rollercoasters? LOLZ YOU STUPID COW." Guy 5 "I can't believe how stupid you are! I hate talking about coasters!" Guy 6 "Here's my less-stupid story and how I just blow those comments off." Guy 7 "People think you're a nerd if you talk about coasters!" Ugh. Talk about being ashamed of something you love --- I rarely ever point out to people that their facts are wrong while in line. Sometimes, Nikki and I will discuss it after they've left and laugh about it. Generally, the only time we'll ever interrupt or join a conversation is when people are talking about coasters they've been on at other parks. Once in awhile people will join in our conversation when we're doing it. We're not "ashamed" to discuss coasters we've been on or places we've been. What's wrong with travelling to other parks? Sure, some people might look at you strangely, but who cares? Do what you want! --- The funniest thing we've ever heard was when we were waiting to get into Holiday World, and this backwater hick family were discussing Raven and Legend, and how Raven is "nine feet tall" and Legend "must be ten or more." That was pretty good.

I still am annoyed that I missed that opportunity to ride Cyclone, even if it sucks. I'm willing to fork over some cash for it. -

Hey hey now I wasn't badmouthing Canada, I was badmouthing Montreal and Hamilton - two places which, quite frankly, aren't very "Canadian" to me! -
Man, now that's some trooping! 5AM!!! How the hell did it take you that long to get home in the middle of the night? That's insane. GNE looks awesome white. Wildwood was a place I was looking into for our trip this year [sFGAd, Wildwood, Coney Island were potential add-ons to the SFNE trip], but lack of money forced me to cancel those plans before they reached further than "...this could maybe be done?". Looks like we didn't miss much!

I miss BGE. We only spent three or four hours there on our trip last year due to poor weather, and having to drive for five hours after we left the park. I hope we can return in 2007, because I *really* loved the park in the short time we spent there. Maybe next time the crowds will be a little lighter! Nice pics and great POV.

Thanks for the replies guys! I really was only looking forward to Lake Compost for Boulder Dash, which I had heard mixed reviews on. But I'm a big woody freak, so I was still excited. I hadn't heard much positive reviews of the rest of the park [outside of the FREE BEVERAGES!], and wasn't looking forward to anything else at the park outside of the skilift thing and the screamin' swing. But oh well! The real bummer for me is that I didn't break 200 on this trip, I'm still stuck at 193. Missing two credits at La Ronde, two at TGE [three if you include Nightmare] and the four at Lake Compost has left me dangling. There's always next year though. We might do a PCW Photo TR before end of season, but if not, thanks for reading guys! We have some big plans for next year -

Haha well I have no clue what the hell bit me, but I really thought we should document it, since it was such a painful, horrifying experience. Seriously, the thing was in the most uncomfortable spot. Ugh! But uh, I had to suffer, so I am making sure I'm not suffering alone. -

shesaidboom AND 307 GO TO MONTREAL AND NEW ENGLAND IN SEARCH OF THEIR 200TH COASTERS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER CRAP!!! PART FIVE OF ... FIVE? WHATEV. So uhhhh Lake Compounce decided that, due to the "potential for a possible brush with rain" [their words!] on Saturday, that they would CLOSE IT. WITH NO WARNING OR ANYTHING. NOTHING. And the worst part? SATURDAY WAS A GREAT DAY. NO RAIN. AT ALL. SO that meant that on Sunday [the time designated for the nine hour return drive home], we'd have to drive an hour *south* [aka, the opposite way we needed to travel to get home], spend an hour or two at Lake Compounce, and then drive home [a ten hour drive now]. Before we left the hotel in the morning, we called the park to verify that it was, indeed, going to open as scheduled, and were told that yes, in fact, it would be. Excellent. So, here we go...! ...but we wanted to end with a happy face, even though this was definately the worst trip we've been on. We ended up spending three days doing *nothing* because of Lake Compost's poor management. So uh, thanks for reading, and see you next year! Much of the 10 hour drive home was spent yelling about the horrible management at this dump, which will now be referred to as "Lake Compost". The Worst Managed Park in the US! Makes me yearn for Darien Lake. I HATE THIS PLACE. OH YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME. After *another* call to make sure the park was to open, we were told that "It's raining, so we're not opening today." -

Unfortunately, Catapult was closed both days we were there so we didn't get to ride it. Pandamonium was okay..the first time we rode it with two adults about our size and we didn't think it was so hot. The second time we rode with a couple scrawny kids and it was a lot of fun. I guess it just depends on who you're riding with. Lake Compounce, well that's a whole other story. You'll find out about that soon. Thanks for the reply -

Here are some more pictures!!!! This graffiti in our Motel 6 room could not be more accurate. Stay away from this hole! One last Superman shot. Our boobs are friends. There aren't enough park photos in this post, but we hope our boobs will make up for it. So apparently Jer's ass grew a nipple. This is another side effect of staying at the goddamn Motel 6. Did we mention how much we love Flash pass? A theme park staple, an ICEE! Superman stopped on the lift for a couple minutes, causing panic to run rampant through the streets. Many people refused to ride afterwards, citing that the ride was completely unsafe and would immediately crash, causing everyone to die. Mmmm, Jer bum. Superman is low in fat. I guess some Americans *do*, in fact, like real sports! That, or he's vacationing from Canada. We enjoyed riding in the American Gladiator balls. The ride op on Poison Ivy neglected to measure anyone and allowed two toddlers to board the train. The other ride op then made him unlock the restraints, measure the kids, kick them off and then re-check the restraints on the very long train. Lake Compounce is coming up next! -

shesaidboom AND 307 GO TO MONTREAL AND NEW ENGLAND IN SEARCH OF THEIR 200TH COASTERS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER CRAP!!! PART THREE OF ... FOUR? WHATEV. We're posting on Jer's username because Jer is jealous that I always get to post. [He really just wants to up his post count] When we last left our intrepid reporters, they were driving through rain soaked New York after a wet and wild day at the Great Escape, on their way to Six Flags New England and SUPERMAN :o But first, we interrupt the report to bring you a short interlude: Please, for the love of god, do NOT ever stay at the Motel 6 in Enfield, Connecticut. This place is a freakin' dump! We managed to survive two nights there, but only out of sheer willpower and lack of money. Problems we faced with our hotel room: A non-smoking room that not only had an ashtray in it, but also had cigarette burns on the sheets, and a disconnected smoke detector, and the stench of smoke. Bedsprings popping through the mattress, making sleep very uncomfortable, as well as bugs - and a lack of a showerhead, making water pressure so furious that it was able to cut Nikki's boobs!!! So uh, please, do us a big favour and stay across the street at the Red Roof Inn. Our experience there was very nice, the room was reasonably priced and in a very good location to both SFNE and the Enfield Square Mall. OKAY, now that that's out of the way... SFNE was a ton of fun and had a lot of great rides. We couldn't have enjoyed ourselves nearly as much had we not purchased a Flass Pass, though. That thing is an absolute must for this park. Crowds weren't off-the-wall heavy, however they were plentiful enough to cause long waits for everything. Except those smart enough to get a Flass Pass. Man that thing is awesome. We had three days at the park, but decided to just spend two, as we had tons of fun and didn't feel like spending a third day there on a Friday without a Flash Pass. Not really our bag. Anyway, ON WITH THE PICTURES! At least we got one good photo out of it. [more pictures coming] Cyclone sucks. Isn't Scooby Doo a Paramount thing? Thunderbolt was fun. It was much better than the other woodie in the park. It also has some good jolts of airtime. TWO CREDIT PHOTO! Jer pooped out a block of cheese. The Mr.Six ride was almost ruined by these stupid spinning cardboard cut-outs. We've always experienced extremely long lines for boomerangs, but even though it was packed the line for the boomerang was definately the shortest in the park. What gives? This girl proudly holds an American size small beverage. The mist smelled like diapers. This picture is pretty damn awesome though. Superman, THROUGH THE FENCE! If you enjoy being crushed to death between two pieces of solid bubble wrap and enjoy having the buttons on your pants embedded into your flesh, this is the ride for you! Superman was so good that Jer's head almost exploded out of it being so good because the ride it was good so good Superman was good very good made Jer go 'oh goodie' it was good. Superman does a lot of things. This is one of them. There's pictures of Superman on the internet. Nude pictures. We didn't like how it went through the zero G roll and then right into two corkscrews. We like this picture though! Batman is lacking in variety though. Inversion, inversion, inversion, done. Batman was Nikki's 200th coaster. Finally a milestone coaster that doesn't suck! Lost in all of Superman's awesomeness was the fact that Batman is also a pretty good ride. Here we are waiting a total of 15 minutes for the front. Jer's decided that Superman is tied with the Voyage for his number one, while it is firmly entrenched in Nikki's number two spot. Millenium Force has taken a big drop on our favourite coasters list. Now we understand the knocks on MF. We didn't realize how good the Intamin Hypers could be until we went on Superman. Scream was the first drop ride we went on that launched both up and down in the same cycle. "Lana and Clark can have sex now because he doesn't have his powers!" -
