  1. The very last day I was in Orlando with family for spring break last year and after doing Wet 'n' Wild (may it Rest In Peace), we had a few hours to kill before hitting the airport and flying out so my dad allowed me the opportunity to drop into Fun Spot Orlando for a quick run on both coasters. It was a perfect close to our trip, and both coasters were quite fun! White Lightning was especially fun with all its airtime, and I managed two rides on it! Keeping with the discussions on this board, I'm hoping to make it back to Orlando at some point in the near future specifically to drop into Sea World and try Mako! The park definitely offers the best bang for what a coaster junkie like myself pays for, especially considering the exorbitant admission fees of the other bigger parks.
  2. Yeah, their twitter hasn't been very focused on the coaster lately, but places like Snapchat have been full of tiny previews of the ride. Similarly, I'm also anxious for Thursday to roll around!
  3. I'll bet anything that it won't be as bad relative to late summer. If anyone's out and about on Derby day then it's likely specifically for Derby. Apart from dealing with huge traffic messes, the park might not be that packed. If it's possible, though, you're almost always better off visiting on a Sunday anytime of the year.
  4. They're nice, no doubt. But do they make sense at Dollywood, especially in a timber/logging-themed area? I could understand them in Jukebox Junction or even County Fair, but in "Timber Canyon," an LED light package seems out of place. I know I'm being nitpicky, but for a park as beautifully themed and well thought out as Dollywood, the tower's adornments surprise me. It looks like it's only under the car and the tip of the tower. It's not like the entire tower is lit up all the way. Wild Eagle even has lights on the sides of the trains, making it clearly visible at night when it flies through the trees.
  5. Here's one: There's one on Instagram that shows a little bit of its light package under the drop car. https://www.instagram.com/p/BSZEr2ogRNN/
  6. Still a step above what Cedar Fair had been doing in the last couple of years in terms of theming their coasters, and I'm all for it. I'm also not crazy about this coaster, but I do like what it's already got to offer. Should be a pretty solid coaster.
  7. Planet Coaster - Spring Update 1.2 The update comes April 11th and includes the following: *Vandalism to park, security guards, security cameras! *Vekoma Boomerang! *Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang! *The ability to synchronize stations and duel coasters, or any tracked ride! *Some new lovely scenarios! *The ability to have smooth camera control using PC connected game controller (i.e.: x-box controller). It was mentioned that this was how they were able to get those panning shots in their own videos. *Ability to disable collision detection with coasters, rides, and scenery. *Improvements to ride prestige. *And more... All of this, PLUS what was announced further back will be coming to the free update on April 11th!
  8. Why does YouTube have recorded livestreams in a separate drop down section instead of lumping them with regular uploaded videos?! Nearly went senile searching for a video I was almost convinced didn't exist.
  9. That's incredibly generous of the park! Hope they have a great day!
  10. Only been on two: 1. Lightning Rod 2. Storm Chaser They both definitely ride differently, so anyone that still says "if you've ridden one, you've ridden them all" clearly hasn't experienced enough of them. I got to experience Storm Chaser go through a few phases throughout the year, including the ride's sluggishness on opening weekend to when it finally hauled a** a couple months later, and when they temporarily experimented with different wheels which made for a louder, more vibrate-y ride.
  11. I'd be all for the fall festival more so than the scares, personally! Although they would definitely be missing out on scare crowds that roam Louisville for haunts.
  12. I got a day planned to sneak a visit and try it out in late April/early May. I'm not overly excited for the coaster, but it's the best new thing going for me this year in any park, so I'll take it! Looks to be a really solid addition to the park. Also, a note to future riders of Mystic Timbers: once you've experienced it, for the love of all that's holy, please don't spoil the shed for the rest that have yet to (I'm sure Media Day POV's will do that already, though).
  13. MAY have problems. Depends on your built too. 6' @ 200lbs is a lot different than 5'9 @ 200. They are trying to get a wider range thinking and checking. I'm sure it goes for any RMC (as well as Lightning Run at KK). I think as long as your stomach doesn't stop the bar from coming down far enough onto your lap, you're pretty golden. Can't go completely off of weight.
  14. The wood for Thunder Run's mechanical room looks to have been replaced. There used to be remnants of one very old graffiti tag on there. Glad that's gone!
  15. Great report, thanks for covering and sharing with us! That Thunder Run train looks so shiny! While a tad bittersweet, I'd be totally fine with seeing Enterprise go. It's age definitely showed last season.
  16. Full speed launch plus no trims, would that give it the world's biggest loop?
  17. Copy-paste from latest Devlog posted two days ago...
  18. If Taron had inversions, it would probably be a close competitor for my "perfect" roller coaster. But I need (and reeeeeally want) to ride it first.
  19. Coasterbill, your thoughts echo mine. I couldn't believe it myself after I rode it, thinking "wtf just happened" once we hit the brakes. I await the day it gets pushed to the "overrated" section, but for now, it's worth all the hype it's gotten.
  20. Reluctantly crouched at the starting line
  21. Definitely going in a great spot too. Looking forward to trying it out!
  22. PAX Prime livestream going on right now. So far, they've revealed new scenery sets, new security guard, 3 flat rides, one new coaster style, aaaaand go karts!!! Edit: Livestream's over. During it, Sam also mentioned that a standard and giant inverted boomerang will be coming eventually as well. https://www.youtube.com/c/planetcoaster/live Every time they mention a new ride, the video for it goes live on their channel too:
  23. ^I'm kinda the same way, except I eventually made some local friends who enjoy the coasters as much (if not more) than I do. Doing solo trips has gotten significantly easier than when I first started, and I actually enjoy the time I get to go at my own pace, esecially when it comes to making photographs around the park. Though I do agree that going with some friends or family is a much better experience and something I would much prefer doing. The only time going solo gets a little awkward for me is when the park is dead, as I've learned with one particular trip to KK when every-single-ride was a walk-on. Something about having an entire ride to myself (this mostly applies to flat rides) doesn't sit right with me somehow, so I'll usually skip or wait for other people who might be boarding before I do so myself.
