  1. New year, new update! Alpha 10's available for download. A full devlog is here, but these are the major new additions: Jumper ride Signs that restrict access to specific people only. Ability to buy land in scenarios. Visual water refraction. Beginning of SciFi props. Budgeting for ride maintenance, and more.
  2. Bought the Galactic Empire album and I never knew I needed it this badly in my life until now, holy cow! Currently hearing this song:
  3. It was a massive hit with the park last year. I especially noticed while visiting the park one crowded Saturday. You can tell who took advantage of it by who's wearing the free-drink wristband, and more than half of everyone I saw at the park had them. I remembering overhearing some families having traveled from somewhere in Tennessee just to visit.
  4. https://www.kentuckykingdom.com/2016-a-special-offer-for-out-of-state-visitors/ This is the true out-of-state discount page, but it's apparently being worked on. Last year it was around $30 (or $25) for two days, plus free drinks.
  5. I consider the airtime received on Tower of Terror to be better than those of many tower rides that exist, almost better than S&S only because you sustain plenty more out-of-your-seat moments on it. That said, I am absolutely loving the concept of this and can't wait to hear more about it!
  6. [source] So, a 90 foot Larson/ARM tower with VR headsets. It runs in Houston up until the game this Sunday, and lasts a whopping 2 minutes total. Below is the only video I can find of the tiny tower (starts moving at 5:18, drops at 7:00).
  7. I appreciate that! If there's anything anyone would ever like to see from this project, please do let me know. I take feedback into heavy consideration when building this park to look its best. Aside from that, I whipped up a quick POV video to showcase Woodchipper, the wooden coaster in the slums. There's lag spikes because I used OBS to get this video (an in-game recorder would do soooo much good). [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  8. I'm curious to why you recommend a mini-golf course located an hour away from Kentucky Kingdom? This isn't a comment on the facility itself, but it just seems like quite a stretch to visit something as small as that. If someone were to travel that far for a recreation center like it, my first pick would have been Kart Kountry which is only 30 minutes.
  9. That ride actually looks pretty incredible. I originally imagined it would run a lot faster through the spirals, but it actually doesn't look that bad. Heck, I'd have no problem giving it a try if I was there and had the chance.
  10. The update came! There's an interesting list of patch notes I left out for the sake of length, but can be seen at the source. Biggest change I saw with the new update is that they made guests more willing to wait in longer lines, so my parks saw a huge boost in ride wait times. Some ride queues filled pretty quickly.
  11. I bolded some stuff that might be of particular interest. Source TL;DR: Small update coming this week with a new flatride, and a big update coming in April!
  12. https://www.planetcoaster.com/en/learn-planco The game guests' speeches weren't gibberish after all... Frontier had invented a brand new language for this game.
  13. Meh, it's a hit or miss. I've heard from people who have liked it, and people who have despised it. Few in between, but I've had good rides on it too and I always give it a whirl or two when I'm there (and survive). If you wanna try it, I recommend the back rows, not so much the front. Cyclos is typically a one and done (or you're like me and had a chance to try it twice in a row w/o getting off... which I do not recommend! ). It's a guaranteed headspin, but there's so few of them that I have to recommend it to folks who visit.
  14. Depends which Sunday of what month you're visiting as well. "Best Food:" My personal favorite is the sandwich shop near Storm Chaser (Louie’s Fresh Market), but it was closed a lot around the end of last season so a good second bet would be with Swamp Water Jack's or Junior's BBQ (both with A/C seating spaces). If crowds aren't an issue for you, then any of the restaurants in the water park, especially Taco Tequila. "Surprising Ride:" Cyclos is the wildest flat ride in the park (and the best pendulum ride I've ever ridden thus far), and I'm always surprised to hear how many people skip it because the line looks long. If the queue line switchbacks near the ride are not totally filled, please do consider giving it a go (unless you reeeally don't like rotating or hanging upside down a lot). If you're there strictly for the credit run, you will be out much quicker than you think (especially if you're there when the park gates open). A likely case is if you do a few coaster re-rides and include some flat rides, plus maybe a show, because then it's likely you'll spend no more than 5 hours. It is absolutely possible to do both parks in one Sunday (not including either water parks) and be satisfied. Personally, I think either KK or HW with their water parks are full-day things individually, so plan accordingly. One can only dream. I'd much prefer picking up the park and moving it elsewhere... preferably any place that isn't partially owned by the State Fair Board.
  15. This is gonna be a lengthy one. If this style of updates works or doesn't work for you guys, let me know! Everything in this park is a work in progress, and as I continue to expand, things are gonna shift around and get renamed so they all fit together nicely. For now, here's what I got. Welcome to Castle Tundra! A far off land complete with different cities, towns, villages and other types of civilizations! Visitors are greeted with the warm and inviting clock tower village, complete with shops that include their favorite brands of food and drinks, as well as warm overnight accommodations in the many cottages spread throughout the town. First sight upon entering the town. The carousel surrounded by a few cottages. Clock tower Clock tower door to the left, a cottage to the right. Every village needs some religion... probably. Overview of the tiny, safe, warm clock tower village. Adventurers who seek more opportunity (or thrills) have the option of venturing out of the warmth and safety of the welcoming clock tower village, and visit the adjacent Junction town. This town often attracts prospective citizens from small villages such as the clock tower town, especially those looking for better paying work and a more exciting lifestyle. The sign should read "beware of wolves..." Railway traveling over a path that connects clock tower village with the Junction town slums Overpopulated much? Overview of Junction town slums. Note: it sits on a cliff edge! Upon arrival by either train or other means (walking), visitors will find a plethora of tiny windowless shacks within close proximity of each other, tiny farms only suitable for vegetation, and dirty and cracked pathways. Along with many other reasons, as well as having some of the lowest levels of health among citizens in all of the lands, is why the town earns the nickname "slums." The town is complete with shops, trading outposts, hotels, first-aid centers, farms, and a manufacturing and industrial district. One of two flat rides currently here. Manufacturing and industrial district The manufacturing and industrial district specializes in woodwork, and exports them to other lands. They took such pride in their woodworking skills that they collaborated together to create a structure that allowed mine carts to race along its track in an exciting, but safe manner. It was named Woodchipper. Top of Woodchipper overlooking the park. It's the first roller coaster of the entire park, but it won't be the only. The next plot of land to tackle will be the mining pit. While the conditions of this area is far more dangerous and unsanitary, the rides involved will be much larger and more exciting! As I continue working, I'll add more details. As I've mentioned in the previous post, everything in this park is hand-built by me and not downloaded from the steam workshop. Stay tuned for the next update. I'm considering throwing together a POV video of Woodchipper eventually, but before that, I want to add more theming around the ride. Let me know if there's anything anyone would like a closer look at, and also if anyone has any advice for what I could include to make this look better. Overview of park. Separating the lands with hills creates a pretty great illusion that each are miles apart, and I still have PLENTY of room to expand (if done right)!
  16. Sorry to hear you had to deal with such horrid people on your groups, Robb. You had every reason to stop doing tours openly and be selective on who you bring on future trips. For a man to hold such a grudge for such a long time, enough to go out of their way to verbally insult you and your family?! There's no more argument to be had, because there's absolutely no valid reason to wrap others like your child in nonsense like this. There's much more to one's existence than being petty over things that upset you over the internet. Him and his 300 friends need to consider moving on with their lives. It saddens me that there were folks who not only didn't appreciate what was provided to them in some of these events, but often spit it back claiming that it wasn't enough. People have to take a step back and realize how lucky they were/are for being able to experience certain things many, many others could only dream of being part of. The younger me that joined this website about 6 years ago dreamed of even being able to do a trip out of the country solely to hit amusement parks, let alone attend a TPR tour or event. Closest I was part of something was persuading my parents to help me attend East Coast Bash 2012, which to this day still stands as the best group-organized coaster event I had ever attended. On occasion, I was able to see how much effort Robb was putting into making these events an unforgettable experience, tackling the juggle of leading tours, taking care of business on the fly, and handle social media, all at the same time. You guys pour a lot of love into the things you do, and the hard work put in definitely shows, so thank you for everything you do. But if enough people can't appreciate even the simplest of things that you or the parks you work with provide them, then you have every right to stop it. There's no sense in going forward with it if the hard work goes to waste and the experience suffers thanks to some bad apples. 17. Downloaded it, rode it, loved it! Seriously, the effects in this coupled with the authentic voices put a huge smile on my face (the effects before the big launch, especially)! On the technicality side, the coaster even seems very believable, as something that could actually be built (like what everybody else had said)! Excellent work on it, definitely one of the best (if not the best) downloads I've seen for the simulator!
  18. Not a horrific change, imo. They could've ended up doing like some parks and bumped it up by $10 instead (or more).
  19. It's rare for me to say this about a ride or attraction (unless it's one that constantly spins), but it looks nauseating from an off-rider's perspective! I would kill to try it, though!
  20. It doesn't look like it'll have much airtime, really. Any chance of it getting an RMC makeover?
  21. Looking forward to the announcements! Also had a chance to spot Eye of the Storm from the highway as expected. It's still quite intriguing to see KK go with these simple solid color visuals for their rides, but that might have been from Six Flags almost setting a standard with their loopers. From their instagram:
  22. This only shows me that I don't delve into the workshop enough. The intricate theming, the playground, rock climbing wall... so many things I hadn't even thought of including in any of my parks! You've meshed these things together so well, great stuff!
  23. If the pretzel loop is forceful enough I close me eyes, not for any fears but because it feels like my eyes are gonna get sucked into the sockets.
  24. Since the maps seemed big enough in the game, I figured I'd give my own take to an entire kingdom and pretty much build most everything by hand. I started off with terraforming the entire map to where I'd like places to be. Then I built paths in random diagonal directions and made small loops. After that, I built small buildings in between each loop and larger buildings off to the side. There's a welcoming town I'm still finishing up now. Then there will be slums and underground mining (or simply cave dwellers), trading/merchant town, a middle-class village, and high class castle at the top of the mountain in the top left. I'll separate each areas with trees and hills to give the illusion of everything being miles apart from each other (it worked in some of my other PC game saves). This won't be as crazy detailed like something Silvarett would do! But I hope to make something decent out of something much more simple. I'll take any suggestions anyone else might have for me! Here's the welcoming town: Train station when it was still in the works The village is mostly complete. Still need to add more details, including more snow to rooftops. A town humble enough to have its own carousel! Little shops and a clock tower.
