  1. ^Not going to lie, that kinda hurt to read. Which reminds me... ... if you claim as many "world's biggest, best, fastest, etc." records for things no one else is going to bother beating, or often provide no proof (stats, reviews, etc.) to other fluff claims.
  2. Valleying on a water coaster's not super uncommon, but the one of the woman still on the boat between the unload/load stations... that's a first! Glad to hear he enjoyed Thunderbird. I certainly love that coaster to the moon and back, too!
  3. I might've been slacking in posting some updates about the game to here, but the team hasn't slowed down. Latest Alpha release update made me figure I should make another, and show off the highlights from the past few updates missed here: -New ride, Orbiter: New Splash Battle: New Boat Transport ride: New train style for looping coaster: New bumper boats: Monorail can work in shuttle mode. New building box selection mode: Raising/lowering scenery won't eat at plants/trees. Also tons new scenery items including basic geometric shapes for more custom stuff. More stuff found on their devlog site: http://themeparkitect.tumblr.com/
  4. The video was shot the first Saturday of the fair. I was surprised with the crowd level too. I wouldn't exactly call it dead (A Tuesday last year during the fair was a dead day, every single ride was walk on), but I would call it significantly lower Saturday crowd than expected. Still, it was an alright turnout, and a nice day to easily enjoy the rides.
  5. I can attest to them being vastly different, even tho I've only been on Storm Chaser and Lightning Rod. LRod differs from SC with its speed and the immense size of the ride's elements. Storm Chaser makes up for it's 100ft with insane ejecter airtime plastered on as many hills and elements as possible. SC's bunny hill moments are a little slower but a lot more abrupt and harsh, whereas LRod would blast through its quad-down a little more comfortably. Complete digress from the topic, but for any interested, I finished the KK/KY State Fair video I mentioned before. (Storm Chaser footage at 2:54.)
  6. You either copy names of other rides at sister-parks, or you scramble the words to create something almost original. initially, but not anymore Yeah, about that...
  7. Popped by this Saturday. A few interesting notes: -Parking, as expected, was a headache-and-a-half. Looped the entire fair and expo center twice, before eventually getting a spot at the far end of the overflow lot right beside Deep Water Dive. (Note: I arrived 3pm) -Day admission to the park for non-season pass holders was $16 (after fair admission). They also had free drinks all day, which I learned about when I went to a random drink station and they handed me a cup on the spot. -It wasn't as crazy-crowded in the park as I had expected it to be. Lines were very manageable, with only mid to low waits for most rides. -Thrill Ville (Fair Rides Area), location-wise, definitely was better than where they would usually have it! It did mean sacrificing a couple potential larger rides since it is a slightly smaller plot of land, but it was plenty enough for a nice evening out to enjoy the rides. In my opinion, at least they kept the good rides. All-in-all, I had a fantastic time out at the park and at the fair rides! While the fair was more packed, it was nice the folks there were friendly enough too (compared to experiences at other fairs I've been to). As per usual every year I go, I have video clips to throw together into a tiny video of the fair. That'll come at some point in the near future.
  8. That's one way to market your brand new coaster! Fantastic!
  9. The first photo looks to have worked the best in this situation, though would've worked better if it wasn't obscured by the restraint and seat. Good once in a while if it looks nice, but nothing amazing and not something I'd want to see often because it might become old really quick. Cool shots, though. Er, in short, I lean towards indifferent.
  10. First and foremost, Saturday-only public operations (Both Sundays during the fair are private buyout days). Might gather a fairly heavier crowd at the park, but who knows for sure. Arrive around opening anyways to get the most out of it. Parking is probably going to be a pain since the lots normally used for KK parking will be occupied by the fair, so you'll have to park further from the entrance. You'll have to pay for fair parking ($10) and fair admission ($10) on top of your KK admission if you don't already have a season pass. This isn't to deter you from going if it's the only time you can go, just letting you know what you're getting into if you do go. If you leave the park early, do take some time to walk around and explore some of the fair.
  11. Yes. KY Exposition Center and KK share the same parking lot (owned by State Fair Board, so they get the money). It's $8 per vehicle. Something I didn't notice until checking their site just now is that KK will only be open to the public on Saturdays during the State Fair. Sundays are park buyout days and closed to the public. I would usually only go to the park on Sundays during the weekend, so this should be pretty interesting crowd-wise if I end up being able to go to the fair this year.
  12. Some changes to the KY State fair that might be of interest to those who might be going this year. The Midway (Thrill Ville/the rides) is no longer located to the right of Kentucky Kingdom's entrance. It's now smack-dab in the main parking lot in front of Kentucky Kingdom and the exposition center. (PDF Map) Old midway location will be more parking. Don't know if this means a heavy reduction of rides, but I guess we'll find out. They're also using express lanes to get in the gates 1, 3, 4, and 6 quicker if you buy your tickets in advance, and they're using an app to help with which gates to go to. You also won't get to choose where to park. Everyone will be directed to which lot they need to go to. Fair runs 17th-27th. Now thru 16th -- Parking: $5/Admission: $7 August 17th-27th -- Parking: $10/Admission: $10
  13. Even though it's more fuel for the flames, this is very intriguing stuff they found. One in 2007 involving metal fatigue in another area of the ride so welding was added, then in 2009 found weakened material due to "an isolated result of the manufacturing process." Considering Amusements of America supposedly received their Afterburner in 2002, I'm wondering if they had their ride inspected after the 2007 fatigue find, especially since KMG issued a notice stating "All Afterburner rides need to be tested for cracks by a certified NDT company by using visual and magnetic testing." Would something have popped up then about it? Also after all this, does anyone think any parks with Afterburners might consider removing them?
  14. ^Just FYI: fixed spelling errors
  15. Wild mouses for sure, sometimes the spinning mouses too.
  16. I'm dying to get out to Carowinds someday. Fury looks sweet, and the park looks to have a fairly good selection of other rides as well. Enjoying the report so far (as well as catching glimpses of it live on social media). You guys look like you're having a blast! Looking forward to more!
  17. Though that's a fixed portion of the floor, which never raises or lowers. You can see that in this separate video of an operating Afterburner ride. I still believe the seat came off when the ride was on its downward swing from g-forces, then hit the floor as a result. Gonna be looking out for this during this year's Kentucky State Fair if North American midway Entertainments come to town with their Afterburner again (called Feuerball). I loved these rides, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them hold back on bringing it this year. If they bring it... I'm likely to consider skipping. This is incredibly tragic, especially for it being the first day of the fair. I'd really like to know who or what's at fault in this when/if a report comes out of it, since this ride can be found in so many other places in the U.S.
  18. 1. X2 2. Mystery Mine 3. Lightning Run 4. Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge 5. Flight of Fear (both) 6. Rock 'N' Roller Coaster 7. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit 8. Tennessee Tornado 9. Beast (Kings Island) 10. Dare Devil Dive
  19. Premium DLC's have arrived in the form of "Construction Kits!" Very happy that they're tacked-on facades instead of things players might need to buy for 'a complete game experience.'
  20. I agree with this wholeheartedly. You still get a front-row experience with far less wait in row two. Last two times I rode, I asked for that row because both times I'd get right on the next train coming in.
  21. Likely tolerable, and likely very hot. Don't forget the out-of-state tickets for free drinks, and use it to stay hydrated while waiting in line. Otherwise, you should be fine and able to get on all the coasters.
  22. Made a second visit out to this park for the second time ever (since 2015) this past Sunday, and had a really good time! Park didn't get crowded, including the water park first thing in the morning. Easily rode all the slides, and enjoyed the lazy river/wave pool combo they had (which made for an adventure river thanks to them being connected! ). Tried their new ProSlide complex and LOVED them all! Very thrilling slides, especially the wall slide Tidal Wave, which seemed to be the sleeper hit of them all! They're such fantastic additions to the water park, and they all take single-tubes as well which I appreciate! Also got to try the new Spinning Out coaster, which actually took me by surprise at how nice it was as well. As far as family rides go, it's got enough of a thrill to it to entertain most folks young and old alike. Also noticed Kentucky Rumbler received new green trains at some point. It has the harder foam seats found on Mystic Timbers instead of the usual Millennium Flyer plush seats. Also lost the ride's logo on the front grille. Still a fantastic wooden coaster, with some minor jarring in some spots but not enough to keep me from quite a few repeat laps! Sorry for lack of photos, I was a little too preoccupied in enjoying the park and the low waits/walk-ons I had on most rides.
  23. Game updated with a bug fix update after the big summer update. Most are minor fixes to the game, but one stood out to me especially So now the Intamin wing coaster (e.g. Skyrush) finally gets the flexibility it's been missing all along! And I actually get to properly use the darn ride for once. Yay Edit: Bonus finished coaster pic
  24. This was my thoughts as well when I visited some weeks ago. I was absolutely shocked to see how far that queue stretched!
