TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some fixes needed for the Kentucky Kingdom section. Eye of the Storm, Tea Cups (called Mad Hatter), and Scream Extreme are listed as closed. They're all open (and Scream Extreme changed from being called Scream Xtreme at some point). Some new photos of Scream Extreme were posted just moments ago on the KK thread. -
Hearing on Instagram that T3 did successfully open. Side note, I'm hearing the new Avian Adventure show in the old Batman theater in the park is kinda nice. It opened on Memorial Day Monday. Hope to be back to see it sometime, but it'll be a few weeks until then. Edit: Oh, I had failed to mention Scream Extreme. It's very nice! A very worthy successor to Enterprise, imo. Rides almost exactly the same (without the little rattle Enterprise had towards the end), but the restraint system feels so open with allowing your legs to dangle freely. Plus the benefit of the in-line style (versus the 2-per-row style) letting you hold out your arms too. Very solid flat ride for the park with a 48" height requirement.

I've been eagerly awaiting my Monday visit, and hoping I get the same outcome with my FL+. Don't care if it's going to be low or high crowds, this is a 1-day visit since my last in 2013. I'm stoked SV is finally back on the program! Also, to all who had been contributing to the economics, jobs, "teens are lazy" discussion, thank you all for the very insightful read, regardless of whether it really was relevant to this thread (triple points to those who linked references). -

One odd thing I noticed in the backstage tour at Coasterstock was that some trains come flying into the spaghetti bowl noticeably faster than others. Sometimes a train rockets through the boomerang like a bat our of hell, and other times a train moves slow enough you can actually notice when you're upside down. The faster definitely snaps hard through the rolls. (Side note, I'm a fan boy of this coaster and not afraid to admit it). -

Shots fired Knowing enthusiasts after trims were added to i305 and Holiday World's Voyage mcbr's were slowing most trains down, I'm betting there might be some moaning and groaning to be had at Coastermania if it stays (I won't be there, tho, you guys have fun). But the thing about those coasters is that they still remained pretty dang wild and I'm betting Steel Vengeance is no exception from this. I'll personally accept that mid course bite if it means more trains can run. -

Oh boy, I've heard enough enthusiast complaints about Voyage's trims biting down to know we'll never hear the end of this... -

This. No one really cares if you go to an amusement park on your own. Plenty people do it all the time, including at amusement parks. -

Go to 2:19 in the video below. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]Storm Chaser's magnetic brakes (which SV also has) gets the ride to a slow crawl fairly quickly when coming towards the station. Yes it might be a longer brake run, but I'm confident Steel Vengeance's magnetic brake run will stop the ride "comfortably" enough (like what was shown in the video posted in the last page). RMC know's what they're doing. The video on the previous page looks like it now has a longer solid strip of magnets to stop it harder instead of the previous "magnets + wheels" assembly. -
Kings Island at night, May 18th. And some from the park's Winterfest event back in December.

Great video! That certainly does look like a major improvement, even if it's a much more abrupt stop at the end. I, too, hope the park can get at least another train on there very soon. especially for my trip in mid-june... -

For any interested, I was finally able to export my footage from the Flight of Fear behind the scenes tour. Multiple shots of the ride running with the lights on. -

Coasterstock this year was a blast! Being my second time there, this year's event absolutely blew the first one out of the water. Getting the tour of the Flight of Fear show building was especially cool by itself, but the moment they surprised up with sending trains was icing on the cake! Got to meet some awesome folks along the way as well. -

Never had I imagined the company to go as far as make a loose attempt to recreate the Sheikra model, yet here we are... Almost mistook that first inversion for a boomerang element with how drawn out it is. Aside from this, the park does have quite a wicked lineup in terms of variety. -

Sounds like the park's very aware some folks are making the trek from far away solely to get a ride in on it, and don't want anyone bursting because "the ride we traveled halfway around the world to get on just closed." It's so nice of Cedar Point to be doing all these things you guys are mentioning. That's above and beyond what some other parks would probably do. -

Finally collected my mail for Coasterstock. Very excited about returning for a second time since being at its inaugural year. And I'll say it a second time, Coney Island BBQ is very good. The pulled pork was delicious! -

It's more like a figure-eight, with the bridge in the center or the crosswalk next to the old Enterprise site. Was at the park opening day, and did a second swing yesterday (after working a hectic Derby week) to catch up on a couple things I missed the first time around. Here's some new things for this year that isn't Scream Extreme, since it's not on site and ready until May 26th. Advertising at the front of the 5D theater the new Zipline Kingdom zipline course the park bought this year The park has a ton of new merchandise including some very nice shirts, which I ended up buying a couple including this one which caught my eye for obvious reasons. There's a whole wall of shirts in the very back of the 5D theater's gift shop that has a big selection of them (which I should've taken a pic of too). Kentucky Kingdom is now a Pepsi park, and got some new sweet looking dispensers and a few more drink stations scattered around the park. A ride's height requirement was pulled down to 48". Can you guess the ride? If you guessed Himalayas, you obviously scrolled too far and saw the ride name. The ride hasn't been running these past two weekends, though. These are the new 5D films. First half of the day is the Happy Family show and the second half of the day is "that show with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in it." I rode Journey 2 on opening day, and finally tried Happy Family yesterday. Personally, I think Happy Family was better than Journey 2 and just a little more exciting than Angry Birds.

^ #CandyBar This ride... I can't quite put into words how awesome it looks. I'm sure CarolinaJay said it best... He's probably not wrong. Considering Banshee's opening day line had it flooding the switchbacks and stretching halfway around the Eiffel Tower at the center of the park, I wouldn't be surprised if he's right. Please, for anyone going, show us the line for the ride when it opens. Thanks for the excellent quality coverage and review of the coaster. As with any other coaster enthusiast in the country, I now also have to make plans to return to this park.
