In case you might've been under a rock, the update released well before this week. I've barely been able to scratch the surface with the new stuff due to work (wanna play with those billboards), but here's clarification on the new ride types within a crappy park I made: Gnarler Millenium Flyer trains Viper One Intamin Impulse coaster, which allows custom track directions and a full circuit, but still only one train. Power Up Maurer AG coaster that can launch and/or have Skyloop lifthill. Also only runs one train. De-Gen Old school round-nose Vekoma train on regular corkscrew coaster track Bolt Arrow-type train on boomerang track Iron Claw Inward facing pendulum Blackout The legendary Looping Starship! Sky Watcher Fixed-height observation tower. I heard in stream that they wanted to make one where you could customize the height of, but it was too much trouble to do.

I am weak. Roommates have it too cold in the apartment, and it's too humid outside. Please don't let me die this weekend.

If you're willing to walk to avoid the $8 charge, then you can totally do it with little to no issue (especially from the Howard Johnson hotel). I personally think it's a tad silly when compared to other park's $25+ parking fee, plus the trouble required in walking that far. But that's just me. I've seen people make the trek, so do what works for you.

If I'm forced to drive, I'd make a stop every 3 to 4 hours to get out and stretch and walk and breathe. Longest driving leg I've done was a straight shot from Dollywood back to home, a little over 4 hours, with no pit stops. I'm lucky to be in a family of pilots, so usually we opt to fly because we get either discounted rates or free trips depending on the airline we go with, and if there's enough seats (always have to fly standby). Once there, we would rent a car and drive the rest of the way.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Podcasts, in general, go a little too far beyond my attention span for me to keep up with them, unfortunately. The only long-format videos I tend to watch online are vlogs or livestreams of things I'm interested in, and those tend to be max 40 minute range. For long drives, I typically prefer to listen to music the entire time. It could be a topic I'm extremely interested in, but usually if it's just people having a conversation about it then I tend to mentally tune out at a certain point, unintentionally. Holiday World's podcast, in particular, is a pretty interesting one that I like and they do a fantastic job at maintaining it in high quality too. I like hearing about little details inside and outside of the park and of people of interest. I just wish I was able to keep my mind from drifting off of listening to it (or any other podcast) for long enough. -

Completely unrelated question. The Thrill in the Hills event this year, does that include all-day Friday or maybe can it be added on as an option with your event ticket? (Asking for a friend.) -

Hm, would probably be a good idea to hunt out the locations of them on a hot day to save that bit of money, because the few times I did see water fountains, they were open for people to walk up to. Park does a good job advertising their food/drink stands and telling folks to get free small cups of water from them, which kinda makes you forget about the water fountains when you're dehydrated and desperate for a drink. -
Back in 2015, my family and I spent one day at both Universal Orlando parks. I had not gone to either parks since 2005, and I still have yet to make a return trip since the last. The extra $$ we spent that day on getting the Express lane that gets us priority waits once per ride was absolutely worth it. We would not have gotten on the rides we wanted to if we stood in the stand-by line all the time. We opted to skip some rides in favor of re-rides on some favorites too (rode both Mummy and RRR twice). I think beenagins87 said it best already: For a park I regularly visit even more than once a year, I can't quite find the reason to pay extra. I go to Kings Island at least twice in a year, once in the summer and once in the Fall. Fall time on a Sunday, I know I'll get plenty of rides in on the coasters I want, so it justifies me not needing their FastLane+ when I visit in the summer and wait in line patiently.

I'm not a super heavy-set person. I fit on virtually every roller coaster I've wanted to with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I don't even look "heavy-set." But when watching a vlo on YouTube made at Volcano Bay, he noted how he wasn't able to ride Kala and Ta Nui (the blue and green "twisted" body slides in the volcano) because the weight restrictions changed for the slide restricting riders to a max 200lbs weight limit. (It was also updated on their Rider's Guide PDF posted online; page 10) Last I weighed myself (this past weekend), I was at 205lbs... Like I said, I'm not a super heavy-set person, but seeing as my family is humoring the thought of paying a visit sometime this year, it was a little bit of a wake-up call for me to maybe consider working out more... because I reeeeally want to try the slides and see how intense people claim them to be. Speaking of which, if any of you have been on it, how was it?

If you're not doing the water parks, it is absolutely possible. Although, anyone on these forums will tell you that you might be missing out on something amazing if you choose to skip Mmamoth and Wildebeest water coasters at Holiday World (and I would agree with them, because they're both fantastic). -
Popped into the park today. Some notes: 1. Medium-ish crowd today. Arrived 2pm and majority of crowds were already in the back half of the park. Still, almost every coaster was an in-station wait. 2. T3 reopened, and is running one train. 3. I have never, ever, gotten more soaked on Raging River Rapids than I did today! Rode with some relatively heavier riders and got some Mile High Falls level of soakage! It was incredible! (For me at least. Two others on the raft looked a bit miserable ) 4. Storm Chaser crew were killing it with dispatches today! Had four people checking restraints instead of the usual two. The ride had very low waits times due to eating through people quick. Lapcount: Lightning Run - 2; Roller Skater - 1; Thunder Run - 2; Storm Chaser - 7; T3 - 2.

Dollywood Discussion Thread

^ I'll take your word for it. I made an offride video of the coaster when I was last there and posted it, and someone commented that he was disappointed seeing the launch slowed down in the video... but... the ride was still nuts!!! I still had airtime over those two humps and insane ejector through the rest of the coaster! Plus, at this point I would much rather take a floater or airtime-less dual-hump for higher running time, rather than a full force launch with constant downtime. At least for Dollywood's sake. (not assuming this was the problem in the first place, I just want to hear this coaster's running more consistently). -

^This is the truth. I never ride that thing with anything in my pockets that can't be buttoned completely. -
Even if I was on a train with other excited coaster enthusiasts, I had to rethink some aspects of my life after doing 1 lap during Holidog Express ERT at Holiday World's Holiwood Nights.

Ah. Never noticed those bins in the station at FoF, and never really seen anyone bring something with them on Bat (and usually skip riding Backlot). -

I had an extra set of clothes and towel for the water park and a camera for the dry side when I was last there. Since I hardly pulled my camera out of my bag though, I'm probably gonna leave it at home the next time I'm at the park and go bagless. It's hard to photograph at the park anyways when you're too busy enjoying the rides. -

Flight of Fear occasionally surprises me when it's sometimes okay to stuff your bag under your legs when hopping on the train. Only coaster there that lets ya do that, it seems. Don't go in expecting this, though. Person outside the ride queue might get you to rent a locker.
