  1. Heck the park runs Blizzard River most opening days even if it's like 40 degrees out.
  2. Thunderhead in the back is as rough as Apocalypse is in the front. In the front, Thunderhead is mostly smooth. I wouldn't say butter smooth but it's comfortable and you can enjoy the airtime and great layout.
  3. Since I'm a huge Disney fan, I'd have to pick trips centered around these parks. I also don't think the suggested scale works too well since those parks shine in areas outside of coasters. Trip 1- Florida Day 1- Walt Disney World (realistically would want more than 1 day, but I could park hop to get on my favorites) Day 2- Universal Orlando/Islands of Adventure Day 3- Busch Gardens Tampa There's also a decent chance the Fun Spots could be squeezed in as well. Trip 2- California Day 1- Disneyland/California Adventure Day 2- Six Flags Magic Mountain Day 3- Knott's or Universal Hollywood I've never been there, but Tokyo Disney Resort would be up there for me as well.
  4. Looks like a solid layout. I'd love to see the zero-G roll incorporate a near-miss if possible when it opens like most of the other wing coasters, but this one seems to have good interaction with the pathways below which would make up for it.
  5. I've only been to the park once on a Saturday in July, but will give some thoughts. The four best coasters in the park are Fury (my personal favorite anywhere), Intimidator, Afterburn, and Nighthawk. Outside of the coasters, Drop Tower, Windseeker, and Woodstock's Gliders (they encourage snapping) are the best flats. I also recommend the Plants vs. Zombies simulator/shooting ride since that ride was a lot of fun. Even on a Saturday in peak season, most rides didn't have terrible waits and I imagine a weekday would be less. Fury and Intimidator seemed to be 30-45 minutes at worst and are people eaters. Afterburn was a walk-on. As others have said, ride Nighthawk early since that one easily got a line over an hour and loaded very slowly. Ricochet and Carolina Cobra didn't seem to get long waits, but their one train waits could lead to a longer wait than some of the other coasters. The river rapids ride had an almost 2 hour wait when I visited. I had Fast Lane so I tried it, but I thought it was one of the worst ones I've been on so I'd skip it.
  6. ^ I agree. Log Jammer is a really great flume. The uphill section caught me by surprise the first time.
  7. It was also B&M's last stand-up so maybe they figured it out in the end. Georgia Scorcher has excellent pacing but doesn't become painfully forceful like Riddler's or Green Lantern.
  8. Great news for Cedar Fair! I used to be more excited at the annual Six Flags announcements, but the Cedar Fair ones are more exciting for me now.
  9. Honestly, a new B&M stand-up would likely be more comfortable than the old ones since their newer designs aren't quite as forceful as the older ones. Maybe that will save my legs.
  10. I wonder if converting Cobra to a floorless was ever discussed. I know it's an Intamin model instead of a B&M, but there are similarities in the track and the conversions of Vortex and Mantis have been well received.
  11. I really wanted to visit this when I was in San Francisco a few summers back, but they closed really early on a Saturday which was disappointing. The place looks really cool, especially that Disneyland model.
  12. I've heard the Great Adventure one only had 2 or so flips, which could be disappointing. The SFNE testing video I've seen has been flipping non stop which is exciting. Hopefully it's the same down in Texas.
  13. I agree Cesari's is good, but it seems like I've made a big mistake to miss the pierogis every time I've been. I'll fix that next time I visit. I also like the Around the World food court in the back of the park. So many great options at such a low price.
  14. ^ That Mack spinner looks amazing. For the test-track style ride, I kind of hope they don't fill in the road since it looks so barbaric as is. I figure they will since the theming over there seems to be really good, but I can dream.
  15. ^ Those cars move so fast that anything is possible. Hoffman's Playland had the Lusse cars without a center divider and I could cause some deadly collisions without it. I really want that red sweatshirt as a joke. I can't believe it was printed like that.
  16. Does Disney check the restraints on the two loopers in the US, California Screamin' and Rock "n" Roller Coaster? If they have, I honestly didn't even notice.
  17. I totally missed that this was lap bar only until now. That makes this ride even more awesome.
  18. If it's open when you arrive, I recommend hitting Sky Rocket and Exterminator first. Those two rides had the worst two waits of my full day there a few days back. Sky Rocket was 30-45 min all day and Exterminator was an hour. All the other coasters were only 15 minutes.
  19. The best part of Dorney is that they never have any lines (outside of the Wild Mouse and water park). So you can stop in on a Saturday and have basically walk-ons on a hyper, Intamin impulse, and two B&Ms. The park is clean and well-run too. I agree they are just surrounded by superior parks in all directions. #eastcoastproblems I look at what's within a ~3 hour drive of chicago and there's obviously the biggie, SFGAm, but outside of that, the secondary day-trip roller coaster parks are Michigan's Adventure, Indiana Beach, and everybody's favorite whipping boy, Mt. Olympus. There are certainly much worse problems to have than having a place like Dorney as your fifth option "local" park. When I'm in Chicago next month, I considered Holiday World a day trip away since that park is on my bucket list and it's the closest I'll be to it for a while.
  20. ^ Honestly it wasn't even that bad last year during the Haunted Graveyard. Yes it jackhammered, but the rest of the ride was absolutely hauling. I love how the park is taking care of their woodies.
  21. Ride one with an Arrow train. Then you will know how bad a boomerang can truly be.
  22. ^ It'd be weird, but there is a precedent since SFDK did it to Roar/Joker. I'm excited to get to try out their wooden coaster lineup next month. The 3 woodies look like they'll all give really different rides.
  23. As noted, SFNE's ops have been significantly better so far this year, especially on Superman. The encouraging thing is that the ops are usually slower at the start of the year, but they were great from the start this time.
  24. Also does anyone find the claim of the largest diameter loop kind of weird? I got distracted by the even faster launch the first time I read the stats.
  25. I appreciated how the buses were all punctual. Something that can't be said for many planes and bus rides I've taken. Last year at Kentucky Kingdom, I had a half hour before the bus left but hadn't gotten on Roller Skater yet. I only planned to ride it if there was no line and sure enough it was a walk-on. As the train went up the lift, it stopped. Thankfully it started back up in about a minute or two since that would have been the most embarrassing reason to ever miss a bus.
