Quick East Coast Trip
Canobie Coaster replied to ALT2870's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While SFNE does have Wicked Cyclone and Superman, all 3 of those other parks are better than it and are certainly full day parks. I'd recommend getting SFNE another time. Plus when you do, you can hit the two amazing woodies in Connecticut as well. -
Quick East Coast Trip
Canobie Coaster replied to ALT2870's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
May 13 is a bring a friend free weekend for Six Flags New England. Typically the park isn't a madhouse before Memorial Day, but the two big coasters (Wicked Cyclone and Superman) could have hour waits. Pandemonium has a single rider line which I highly recommend. Batman usually doesn't have a bad line. Mind Eraser is a wild card now that VR has been added since the non-VR merge point is pretty far into the queue. Thunderbolt only runs one train, but the line usually dies right before closing if you haven't been on it to that point. If you like pizza, I highly recommend Nicky's Pizza down the street from the park. They have amazing pizza and their slices are huge. -
^ Quite a few of their coasters also have single rider lines which could help. I know Green Lantern has one (it could be uncomfortable, but it is unique). Riddler's has a very well hidden one (but it sounds closed). Revolution has a really good one if you don't mind skipping VR and it's kind of hidden like Riddler's. I think Viper has one too. A few other coasters may, but those are the four I know of.

Lakemont Park changes
Canobie Coaster replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Their swinger was absolutely terrible. I went on expecting your standard swing ride to give myself a break after the beating I took on Toboggan, but the swings managed to be even more uncomfortable. The seats were so un-ergonomically designed that they gave me Charlie horses in both legs by the time I got off. -

If they take your photo during the ride (assuming they do like most larger parks), people will look great with their skin being pushed back and those stylish goggles. -

Except on Mind Eraser I tried sitting all the way back but that ride is too jerky in the first 3 inversions to let you. -

You see a sketchy carnival in a parking lot with a kiddie credit and because you stopped to ride it, you had to go without groceries for a night since the store closed by the time you leave. -
Favorite Log Flume

I loved Seabreeze's log flume. That drop was steep enough to give air time! -
Favorite Log Flume

I'm really looking forward to trying Daredevil Falls since it was closed last year. I don't care if it's a traditional log flume or not, but it looks like a fun water ride. -
Underrated Coasters?
Canobie Coaster replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got 6 rides on La Ronde's Goliath last year and would say that it's my second favorite B&M hyper (well technically almost hyper for this one) or fourth if you include the two gigas I've been on from B&M. I loved the endless array of hills and they all provided amazing floater air. I can confirm that the trim brake can't be felt at all. The final two twisted air-time hills are also really fun especially in the back seat. The ride also hasn't developed any sort of rattle. For comparison, this is how I rate the B&M mega coasters: 1) Fury 325 2) Leviathan 3) Goliath (SFOG) 4) Goliath (La Ronde) 5) Behemoth 6) Apollo's Chariot 7) Nitro 8) Intimidator 9) Diamondback -
Has anyone experienced the new shin guards Screamscape mentioned were added to Coast Rider? I was wondering if they're really as bad as they sounded. I know there was the incident on the ride last year, but shin guards on that coaster seems really extreme. You'd think a mesh net like I've seen on some himalayas would serve the same purpose in a much more comfortable way.

I'm not sure if you would want lapbar only. Some of those elements, such as the third inversion, could really throw you forwards because of how jerky they are if you didn't have that vest. -

I didn't mind T3 with the new trains last year but the track itself was far from smooth. I was able to enjoy it since the new trains did at least protect my head. -
^ I was in the train stuck on the lift hill in that photo. As often as I've ridden that coaster, it was actually the first time I've gotten stuck on the lift which I usually see happen at least once per visit. Flashback valleyed in the cobra roll earlier today. I'm shocked Flashback valleyed before Goliath since the latter was going incredibly slow through the cobra roll in reverse yesterday.

Mind Eraser's line actually wasn't bad. I was scared when I saw it in that shed by the lockers, but it was because they were holding people there instead of letting them into the next part of the queue. I got on both times in 10-15 minutes. The new trains really improved the ride. I agree on the Joker supports and it really looks great in that spot.

I made it to opening day as usual. It was a bit chilly, but all the dry rides were running, albeit with some downtime. The park opened at 10:30 but neither Superman nor Wicked Cyclone had their first riders until after 11. Both rides were absolutely flying despite it being opening day. Superman was less than 15 minutes. Wicked Cyclone was a 30-60 min wait due to a one train operation. Both rides had choice seating. Mind Eraser was much better with the new vest restraints. The headbanging is now gone so it's worth riding now. VR kept on having technical issues so I wasn't able to try it. I'm guessing the cold played a role in that if it affects Samsung phones like my iPhone. Batman had freshly painted trains and Joker is coming along. Overall a great day despite some opening day operational hiccups. The vest restraints make Mind Eraser ridable! Batman has freshly repainted trains. I'm really liking the black OSTRs. Joker is coming along quite nicely.

The ride is going to look so weird but awesome with the Millennium Flyers. I really love the claw marks on the sides. -
Having spiders invade with the S&S compressed air noises in the background should be an interesting combo. Wasn't expecting this at Great Escape but hopefully this works well for them. Thank goodness they didn't put anything on the Comet since that would kill the capacity of their only high capacity coaster.
