Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

^ Totally agree on this. I miss my Playland visits, as much as somebody misses their Disneyland visits. Big or small, we miss 'em all! -

^ I wish that Playland(PNE) would post something like that, by now. Patience, patience I keep telling myself. Eventually.... -
Finally! That means after May 31st, which is when (for now) theatres are allowed to re-open. More news to follow.... Now here's a test: Try and remember all of the plays and musicals that got Tony-nominated, back in mid-October!

^ Whatever you're posting, it's not part of the game that's being played in this thread. Do you do any winter sports during the season?

Listening to one of The Best Theme Park Soundtrack cds, IMhO, ever. For Tokyo DisneySea. I know there's probably a new one released by now, but this one is a pretty thorough collection of musical themes throughout the park, and it's attractions. I bought this copy back in 2011. Never get tired of replaying it.

Spent $10 on some scratch tickets etc..... won a total of $40 on them! Life can be a little nice, some times.

We watched it once more, on tv. And this time, it was the same - bloody - thing with the sound! So much "other sound" going on, the dialogue was still too low in parts to grasp what was being said. We had the luxury this time of rewinding and then re-listening again. But even on the television we shouldn't have to do this. Ugh.

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There's this 27 year old artist, who loves going to the PNE and Playland. He was very unhappy about both shutting down during most of 2020, and started painting fave rides he enjoyed, when he visited Playland. Here are the ones that he's done...so far. You can read more about Simon and his Playland Art here: https://www.pne.ca/simon/ The first one he did, with other fave stuff of his underneath the West Coast Wheel. Yo ho ho! Here's a rhyme fer ya mateys: "Simon Greaves, is the artist of these." (Yaaarrr) The newest ride in Playland... The Sea-To-Sky Swinger. -

Now listening to wild re-imagining of Dolly Parton's classic Jolene with full orchestra strings et al. Sung by Parton, too. Truly mind blowing listening to this! Produced by Linda Perry. Amay - zing! And I just found out........it was a one ~ take ~ taping!

Quote lyric from a new Dolly Parton song... (co-written with Linda Perry) "Wish I had a nickle, for every dime that I spent." I Dolly Parton..... And Linda Perry!

Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Well, DLPR's birthday is April 12th. And Disneyland's is July 17th. I think Disney Paris' date will continue to change, for awhile. Disneyland has a good chance at least, of re-opening around it's July birthday. Or sooner..... Or later. My RETRO DLPR: Me and The Mountain, mid-Sept. 2002, DLP's 10th Birthday Year. Mountain got a reno & re-paint, later on. And the new Studios' (then) "Half-Day Park" (truth!) was only six - months - old. Rock 'n Roller was good back then, I remember. ...and Thank You DLP-Report for posting this! I love this entire 'cloaking' of the DLP Castle! Awesome way to do renovation! Hope somebody's collecting all these "Castle/Park Scrims" pix somewhere... What they did with Phantom Manor, during it's (then) lengthy rehab. Bizarre looking stuff, huh? And I love the reflection of 'it' in the waterway. -
Parc Asterix Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to sebastienstuff's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Cool. I looked in a few back pages to figure it out, then looked up the name (found out it's a God of some origin), but still no mention of the coaster. At least what I couldn't find. Thanks for the info. -

^ I believe you're asking about the shuttle loop coaster in Beijing Shijingshan Park? I was in the first group that rode it (TPR 2012 China Tour). And when we fiiiinnnnally got to the top of that loop, we could hear a KERCHUNK! Which apparently meant "a few" of the wheels on the train literally separated from the track! And when I took this photo of it below, you could easily hear the CLUNK from that distance as well. Pretty unsettling sound and experience. But of course, we rode it anyway, LOL! EDIT to add: This was one of those shuttle loops, that had the train being pulled backwards up an (eventual) inclined piece of track. Then it was released. we raced thru the station, into the loop and then KERCHUNK. Right about "there" is that sound. (Pardon the sidebar.) -
Happy Robbie Burns Day! Now go find yourself some Haggis!

Can't do it but I hope that everybody who does enter, will have a great time, and may the best TPR Trivia Geek win!

^ Very nice. And what's that one in the bottom left corner? With the coaster, the ferris wheel and the train going around on it? -
^ Wow. Awesome score! You do indeed have some amazing friends, Bert! Enjoy, Enjoy!

"Call Me, Maybe" Carly Rae Jepsen I remember this playing, while a bunch of us were being thrown around, on a Tagada ride, in China! TPR 2012 China/Hong Kong Tour.

^^ Wow! What a wonderful video! I loved the pacing, the music... and damn those workers are heroes to me, lol! It was a nice, more seductive pace and sound, than the usual cacophony of LOUD NOISE and LOUD MUSIC in a lot of construction videos. (Not that there's anything really wrong with LOUD NOISE and LOUD MUSIC in a construction video.) A beautiful video I would easily watch again. -
Our end of the block is (are?) keeping the lights up, for the time being. A bit of flash & colour during this current winter time.
