Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I'm surprised I've been on so many of these kinds of coasters! Thanks to Robb and Elissa with their earlier tours, I have had the good fortune to ride Psyke Underground (or whatever it was called, back in 2008), Shuttle Loop at Nagashima, the Arrow shuttle loop in Blackpool, the one in Rusutsu Park, and probably (at least?) two of the ones in China. And Cascabel 2.0 in the now closed La Feria Chapultepec Park in Mexico City. But my heart goes to my very first one, Tidal Wave at (then) Marriott's Great America in CA. And my current fave, when I get down there to ride it, is Montezuma's Revenge (always loved that name, lol) -
Wow! You go, girl! Happy 99th Birthday, Betty White!

It's really amazing to read, that guest passholder systems that have been going since I-don'tknow-when, are now (most of them) becoming null-and-void with the company starting new ticketing and pass systems from scratch. I hope things work out for Disney and former passholders, etc. I'm sure it won't work out for "a few select fanzzz", heh. They'll be bitching till blah blah blah. Good for Disney to do this.

Future Favourite TV Series: I know it's going to be a fave series for us. If we can ever get it. But darn you, Disney+! We don't have that, so we'll miss out (for now) on WandaVision.

Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If this is the "inside layout" of the Frozen attraction, then I still believe (IMhO) that this will not be a boat-flume type ride. Oriental Land Co. Ltd. (who owns the Resort), was quoted, way back when, that they didn't want a clone of what was in EPCOT (or to be in Hong Kong and Paris). They wanted a unique stand alone attraction/ride for TDS. So this sort of points to a possible trackless or test track kind of ride system. But who really knows? It's still exciting to me, to figure it all out! p.s. Of course it could still be a "boat ride", albeit a trackless one. Or like Indiana Jones in DL, with the boat being on a motion base. It does look there's a flume of some kind, in parts, through-out the layout. Still. "To be continued..." -

This is especially true, if you don't have a phone to begin with. Shocking, I know. But it's true for us. We don't own cellphones. -
I just heard The Jerry Cans in concert on the radio. Un - bee- leevable! Whattan act! Very impressed with them. Will definitely look into their music.

^ First, I do hope they got pretty good matching singing voices, for each actor/character. Second, I notice that Porcupine Girl (forget her name) is in face makeup, so she will obviously sing live. What about the other masks the others have on, etc? Half masks and still singing live? Or a bit of (smiles) lip sync here and there throughout the show? Just curious of me.

And speaking of delays... and yes, it's true... the opening date of the film version of WICKED has been pushed back.... again. Here's the first mention I found somewhere, about it's original release date. No cast mentioned then. Or now. Hmmm. ...and P.S. I am also really REALLY hoping, that there will (eventually) be a film version of Sondheim's FOLLIES, too. I am casting Meryl Streep singing "I'm Still Here" as Carlotta Campion. , I am pretty sure we've gone waaaay past that date, LOL! Now aiming for... Spring, 2022? We shall see. Yvonne de Carlo sang it first (1971) but Meryl could sock it out of the park, too.

I'm now listening to a rare 3-Act Broadway Musical, truth! "Anyone Can Whistle" is one of a very few Broadway Musicals, that are actually in three acts. Very rare for any musical. Not so much for a lot of plays. This was a recorded 1997 session, of "Anyone Can Whistle," in London. The Narrator was none other than acclaimed director, Arthur Laurents ("La Cage Aux Folles" ~ RIP). And the main male lead was a very well know "Captain" from Doctor Who....John Barrowman. Long known as a talented musical theatre actor/singer, before his recent TV stuff (like "Arrow"). The newly released CD is available on Amazon.com . It was never released, that 1997 recording session.... until 2020, in celebration of (then) Sondheim's 90th Birthday. Awesome! ~ Happy Birthday Mr. S ~ Anyway, I looked up "3 Act Musicals" elsewhere, and found a very interesting list, including a couple of musicals I did not know were three acts! Here they are: Anyone Can Whistle / The Apple Tree / No, No, Nanette / Porgy and Bess / Peter Pan...

Listening to a newly recorded cast album, of the new 2019 revival of MARY POPPINS, in London. Great cast, and especially, finding PETULA CLARK ("Downtown"?) as the Bird Woman in this production. Great listen. And it's done properly LIVE, with the applause where it should be, and the laughs, etc. The singing and orchestra aren't constrained by bad microphones. Brava, Bravo!

I was wondering... the couple that won the TV Lego Challenge several months (a year?) ago... was their winning creation to be displayed here? Or in LegoLand New York? Or another LegoLand park? I forget which park. Just curious. And forgetful. -

Hmmm. Let's see here... Doing a Skywalk....while The Coaster is roaring around you, rumbling on the tracks....above/bedside you. I will pass for now. -
I used to always (minimally) complain, that I wished Playland(PNE) was open a lot more than it usually is every year. That being, May(wknds) - August(w/PNE), with a couple of weekends in September, and then FrightFest in October. Which used to only add up to about 88-90 days of operation. But nowadays... I am actually glad it's "season" is as short as it is. And judging by their reaction to the past year, they are (happily) more than ready to re-open and welcome their guests. Soon. So I really don't think that Playland is in any danger of closing up, for good. Coaster is just too good to give up on.
