Robb & Elissa in Japan - 2015!
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's seriously nothing like you'd expect. For as huge as it is its actually a very mild ride. And they have two of them, side by side! But they were never run at the same time, when I was there on past TPR Tours. And ^^ you're right, when one was operating it took - for - e - ver to swing back and forth. But it's still impressive, when you're sitting there, knowing about 80 or more can fit in the thing! -

Just found some new photos, mainly of the ShDL model recently revealed, on Screamscape by way of Disney & More. Thanks to both sites for posting them! Roaring Rapids Mountain in Adventure Isle The Castle with Fantasyland behind it. You can make out the loading stn. (middle left) for the Crystal Grotto boat ride, (which also shows a bit of it) and some of the Alice In Wonderland Maze on the right. The round roofed bldg, (top right) could be Pooh's Hunny Pot Spin. A more angled shot, which shows the entire AiW Maze. Some more of the Crystal Grotto ride (on the left). And the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster is right behind, at the top of the photo. Adventure Isle on the left - Treasure Cove on the right. And finally, the model of the TRON coaster & canopy, outside the show building. -

Mitsui Greenland is a great park! Was the Bows and Arrows shooting gallery open for you? And McDonalds in Mitsui Greenland, was awesome! Thanks for sharing your visit there - and future parks to come. -

The 'reveal' of it all, eventually, is going to be totally awesome! -
Outside the Japan Pavilion, at our EXPO86 in Vancouver, they had a demo mag lev train, which ran down a strip of track, then reversed itself to come back to the load/unload station. Was very cool and we even got "Fastpass" boarding tickets for the ride. But - that was in 1986, so except for one installation somewhere (I forget, sorry) in China, I don't think it's gotten much farther than that. And here's the video I took back in 2012, of two mag lev trains passing each other.... ( Hi Jon!) [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=MVI_1013_g7vq[/coastertube] And for my answer to the topic's question - no, I don't think a mag lev coaster could or would work. What we rode at the world's fair, back in 1986.

The round green roofed building in the second photograph will be, I believe, the new World of Disney store. Also, below are the 12 "Gardens Friends", who will represent the 12 signs of the Chinese Zodiac.... (Gardens of Imagination are on the ShDL map on page 50 of this thread.) The Zodiac Garden will be located in front of the Castle, as part of the Gardens of Imagination land. -

My heart just stopped. And it really is sooooooo spread out! (And putting the photos thru a {I think} color enhancer certainly helped, too.) -

^^ I signed up, but I hope I don't win what I think is an Opening Day Pass to it. I live a teeeeensy bit farther away, than I'd like to admit. But it should be fun receiving messages about it's progress, etc.
