Steel Dragon 2000
Scaparri replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It cost $50 million due to the high price of steel in Japan though. If the same ride had been produced in the U.S., it would not have cost nearly that much. -
Steel Dragon 2000
Scaparri replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The wheel assembly on Steel Dragon is a bit different from the US coasters. The wheel assembly is on the outside of the track on Steel Dragon as opposed to the inside as seen here in the States. I know they also had to accomodate for larger wheels on this ride. I just hope that this coaster doesn't sit dormant forever. That would be a real disappointment, and a big waste of money. -
Project Tumble Weed?
Scaparri replied to benzo41190's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure about that one. After reading the interview with Walter Bolliger on Thrillnetwork, it doesn't really sound like they are interested in going in that direction. Not that I really expect him to spill all of their concepts out to a website, he still sounded pretty sincere. He sounded almost critical of other companies for taking concepts as far as they have instead of perfecting what they have and providing quality rides. Here's the link: http://thrillnetwork.com/stories_view.php/978. I don't know though. I definately wouldn't mind seeing a B&M 4D! -
Mother's Day - which park are you going to??
Scaparri replied to edboxer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm heading up to Cedar Point for the summer. I'm hopin' to get a few rides in before the park closes. Unfortunately, this week is probably the last time I'll really be on the site until September. I might be able to make a few posts every once in a while Scott "Won't have much internet access up at the Point" P. -
^Me too!! I don't know what it is, but I could watch that guy forever on late summer nights. I don't know if it's the cheesy lines or the ridiculously good looking food, but it's something! Dawn of the Dead, the remake. Besides having a bad story line, it has such incredibly pointless nudity scenes that it leaves guys pointing out how pointless the nudity scenes are. Scott "The Magic Bullet infommercials are also hilarious" P.

Not a bad idea, however, I think a lot of us have learned that rumors most generally aren't true and are a bit pointless. A lot of the times, they get blown out of proportion and can cause some trouble. In all reality, if a park is going to add something, they aren't going to tell anybody, so rumors can be a bit pointless. So most generally, it's best to just wait until a press release or proof that something is going on. Then it's safe to speculate or have a wish list, but rumors themselves don't really serve any good. I hope that makes sense. I will admit though, the idea isn't a bad one.

Help Robb & Elissa With Music!
Scaparri replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I strongly suggest looking into one of my favorite bands called The Format. They make really good music that is catchy and upbeat. I highly recommend "Wait, Wait, Wait" and "The First Single" off of their Interventions & Lullabies album. The lyrics don't really have much to do with coasters, but I really think they would fit well in a video. -
Yeah, I must agree with most people here and say that I love the site the way it is. I can't think of anything I would change about it (not that I'm opposed to changes if you guys want to). The forums are great, the videos are awesome, and the galleries and TRs are hilarious, entertaining, and even helpful. Keep up the great work guys!

What is your favorite seat on a coaster and why?
Scaparri replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There are some coasters in which I will sit in a specific seat (i.e. Chang- front row, far left). Most generally though, I prefer the front row for steel coasters and the back row for woodies. There are exceptions to that though and here are some notables: Front seat woodies: Son of Beast Racer (PKI) Screamin' Eagle (SFSL) Back seat steels: Phantom's Revenge Vortex (PKI) Magnum XL-200 -
I definately do not hate Vekoma. I've never really had a big problem with their rides. I will admit, I think T2 needs to have the torch and crane taken to it, but I'll still ride the thing when I go to the park. It hurts everytime, but I'll still ride it. Other than that, I've never really had a problem. I actually like most of their rides. Believe it or not, SLCs are actually a really fun ride when they are smooth.

I'm not big on reading, but when I do, I mainly read biographies and sports books such as the works of John Feinstein. The last book I read was Danny Weurffel's biography Tales From the Gator Swamp: Reflections of Faith and Football. I'm now working on John Feinstein's The Punch. Both are pretty good books.

C.H.i.Ps!!! Hands down! I don't know what it is about that show, but I loved it! I await the day that the seasons are released on DVD.

Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned, but I seriously don't understand the point of everybody turning their clocks back an hour, only to turn it back some odd months later. Why doesn't everybody everybody just leave their clocks on one designated time for that time zone? I mean, it's not a huge deal to turn my clock back, but I just don't understand the point of it.

^9/10--- It's unique and possibly creative. I would just say that it IS creative but I have no idea what it is/means or how to say it, but it looks cool and has the word chili in it. Mmmmm chili. Scott "craving some Skyline Chili now" P. -
What's the worst song you ever heard?...
Scaparri replied to Movieguy's topic in Random, Random, Random
 (Still picking my jaw up off the ground). Until now, I've actually have never met anybody who didn't like that album. It is one of the best I own personally. But hey, we all have different tastes! -

SfGam Opening Day 2005- Training Day
Scaparri replied to DejaVu The Ride's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I must say I'm a bit surprised by your opinion of Raging Bull. When I rode it last year, it was giving amazing rides. They had the final trims before the figure-8 finale turned off which made it fly through. We all have our differing opinions though. That waterpark is looking amazing. I never realized how big it was going to be. I also didn't realize that is where they are putting it. This makes me really excited to be heading back to SFGAm this summer. Not to mention it's nice to hear that Deja Vu is actually running. In all my trips to the park, I've only made it on the ride once. -

Yeah, my fault Robb. It probably would have been better if I had said that it sucks that it wasn't very impressive. Sorry about that. -

That sucks you guys had such a bad experience at the park. I'm a bit surprised that Spinning Dragons was so disappointing. I was personally very impressed with Timberland Twister at Camp Snoopy last summer. Oh well, one man's feather is another man's knife. I look forward to seeing the pictures. -
Any trips planned this month?
Scaparri replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm headin' up to Cedar Point next Sunday for the summer so that is an obvious one. I might try and go to Fun Spot on one of my days off, but most of my time off is going to be dedicated to going to practice and qualifications (and the race of course) for the Indy 500. -
^Goes to school in the hometown of one of my favorite musicians, Howie Day. Scott "I remember seeing it in my 'College' thread, so to answer your question, no I'm not a stalker, it just stuck out in my mind because Howie Day is just that awesome" P.
