  1. I'll be fairly surprised if anybody actually picks something other than roller coasters. I've never met anybody who will travel across the country to ride a new flat ride, dark ride, etc.
  2. That still doesn't really explain how the park isn't out of land or where they could put a new coaster. It doesn't really make much sense.
  3. It's classic! It just makes you want to bust out the Mighty Ducks . Ya gotta have love for Emilio . That movie is definately the epitome of the 80's though!
  4. I must say, I'm a bit disappointed with it. I mean, I'm sure it's a pretty cool ride, but it's just not quite what I expected. I understand that it can only go so fast, but I expected the pace to be a little faster than what it is. Oh well! Can't win everytime! Can't wait to hear a ride report.
  5. I'm not really sure. Probably do something around campus. I imagine I'll spend some time with my girlfriend and then head to bed early so I can wake up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to go to either my bro's or momma's so I can watch the F1 race (we don't get the channel in the dorms). If I feel like it, I might even watch a little bit of the Nascar race tonight  . I'm not a big fan of Nascar though. P.S. Soeren, just out of curiosity, what time is it over there right now? It has to be close to evening time right?
  6. I don't believe anything until I see one of the three Ps: pieces, prints (blue), or press release. In all honesty though, I'm not sure I know where they would put a ride of that caliber in. Last I heard, just about all of the park's land is used up. I don't how true that is, but that's what I've heard for the last several years. Hence, the plans to remove Whizzer that later changed to Shockwave to make room for SUF. Let's keep our fingers crossed about something though. I would love to see a new coaster put in, but we have to admit, in comparison to other SF parks, this one has been fairly blessed the last several years so I'm not going to complain if nothing happens.
  7. Wow! I must say that is impressive. Let's just hope they maintain it over time. It's a shame that Six Flags doesn't take this much care of all (or any for that matter) of their parks. -Scott "maybe I should post a report and the pics of my trip to SFKK last weekend" Parrish
  8. Well, I honestly have a three rides that are constantly switching back and forth for my number one spot so I'm going to name all three: Millennium Force- The best pace of any ride I've been on, crazy first drop, and love the overbanked turns. The pace is the biggie though. Phantom's Revenge- Two awesome drops and the most violent airtime I've ever experienced. Top Thrill Dragster- Awesome launch, insane speed, stellar drop, amazing view. Overall, this ride thrills me more than any other.
  9. Because if they are that good with wood, think of what they could do with steel .
  10. I'd say the funniest thing that I've done at an amusement park wasn't embarrassing. I was at PKI with my best friend, who has quite the fear of big rides and heights. Well, I really wanted to go on Drop Zone, but he refused to step foot near the thing. I knew he had been on Hellevator at SFKK before, so I decided to have some fun with a few white lies . I simply began telling him that DZ was barely taller than Hellevator. I told him that I'd been on both and that they were pretty much the same. Yeah, I lied straight through my teeth, but the point is, I got him in line. We waited for an hour and then finally got up to the ride. Throughout the line I had been reassuring him that this was going to be no worse than Hellevator and that the two rides were the same height. Finally, we got in our seats, harnesses locked, and as the ride began to lift off the ground I broke it to him. I said, "Chris, I'm sorry man, but I lied. This isn't the same height as Hellevator. It's almost twice as tall. You are riding the tallest freefall tower in the nation (this was in 2002)." He then let out one of the biggest tapesties of profanity I have ever heard. It was absolutely hilarious. Did I feel bad? A little, but not a whole lot. We did the ride, he walked off still throwing in profanity at me (in that best friend kind of way), and told me that he liked the ride but that he wasn't about to do it again any time soon.
  11. Oh wow, this is making me get my hopes up way too early. I don't know what to expect, but anything that is said to be "big, really big" is ridiculously exciting. I'm with Elissa and hoping for something steel. This park could really use it. Am I speculating too much too early?
  12. In high school, I was on the swim team and the tennis team. Now that I'm in college though, I don't do much of anything anymore. Every once in a while I go running, swimming, or, of course, play basketball. Basketball is just part of life in Indiana.
  13. ^Yeah, it was said to be one of Schwartzkopf's favorites. Anyway, I think Kanonen looks great. I really wish more parks here in the U.S. would follow the lead of some of the European parks. I think it would be awesome to see weird and compact coasters (Kanonen, Daemonen) and insane custom hypers (Expedition GeForce). Instead of wasting their money on an SLC or Volare, why not go with something like Kanonen or Daemonen? I love Premier and all, but if I were to build a park, I would probably go with an Intamin myself. Reason being, riding on an Intamin is like skating on glass; riding on a Premier is like driving on a pothole filled road. Premier's rides are amazing, but from my experience, they don't do well with time.
  14. Well, this topic kind of already exists here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=415&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=broke I'll go ahead and pull my story out from that topic though. It's pretty good in my opinion.
  15. Whoa! I was just wondering Elissa . My fault! My fault! In that case, yeah, I must say, I think they are cool season passes this year. I just got mine processed last Sunday. A lot of people can't stand Mr. Six but I think it is a great gimmick.
  16. I had my harness pop open on me in the middle of the ride once and the only thing that saved me was the seat belt that keeps it from coming all the way up. So as far as safety goes, I feel the safest in anything that has a seat belt on it. My favorites are the old Intamin t-bars with the seat belt and B&M floorless/inverted coasters.
  17. I can see how they would call it a family coaster in a way, but I don't really consider it as a family coaster. It has a launch that is faster than that of Flight of Fear (not the most intense launch in the world, but that ride is by no means a "family coaster") and has a top speed of 64 mph. That's almost the speed of some hyper coasters. Yeah, Families can ride it together, but I know when if I was eight years old, I wouldn't step foot near the thing.
  18. We have a couple stand outs here in Bloomington, IN. Scotty's Brewhouse! This is just an awesome sports pub. The food is awesome. Some of the best burgers you'll ever have. I've actually never had anything from the restaurant that wasn't insanely good. Cafe D'Jango is another. This restaurant has one of the coolest atmospheres of any restaurant I've been to. It's actually a house that has been converted to a restaurant (we have a lot of those around campus) and they serve all sorts of various things. It's a little on the pricy side (for what it is) but they give you SO much food that is so incredibly good. Plus, they have live jazz and folk music which adds a nice touch.
  19. Wow! That's intense! To be honest, I probably would have been fairly frightened for the first little while myself since after all, I'm tilted 45 degrees downward facing the ground that is 900 ft below. I would have got over it. But wow, that is crazy! At least nothing happened to the restraints!
  20. Is there any real significance of this post or did you just want to discuss season passes? Just wondering.
  21. Thanks. It's running pretty well. It's the only Schwartzkopf shuttle I've been on so I don't really know how it compares to the others. I here it isn't quite as intense though. It's still a lot of fun though. Thunder Run is running great just to let you know. When are you going to the park? Scott "They need to take a torch to T2" Parrish
  22. Here are a few more from rcdb.com
  23. Well, right now I can only confirm that I will be riding Italian Job (PKI) and Hydra. I have prospects, but the only ones that are for sure are those two. So, Hydra easily takes it for me. I really hope it turns out to be an awesome ride. The prospects are Hades (quite likely), Skeikra (not so much), and Wild Mouse at Beech Bend (not so much likely). If those ended up happening, then I don't know. Hades looks awesome, Sheikra looks like it could be a pretty sweet ride, and I'm still really excited about Hydra.
  24. Right now, my two favorites are both from SFKK. I just got my camera this year so I've only been able to take pics of one park so far. That will change in the next few months. These were taken on 4-17-05. Chang entrance Diving loop on Chang Greezed Lightnin', Roadrunner Express, and the Sky Coaster
  25. Yeah, some of my summer park plans are probably going to be altered so I can make it to the Dells (I've also been itchin' to get on Avalanche). This ride looks unbelievable. It has so much potential. I second Robb's view. This might be the next great woodie.
