  1. The trains still look cool though, and it is nice how open they are. The features that these new trains will have/ be capable of having is cool, but I doubt we'll ever have a launched wooden coaster. I hope that Six Flags will buy some of these for Viper now, but that will probably never happen. I could see Mt. Olympus and Holiday World buy some though.
  2. Wow, it sounds like 2009 will be a better coaster year than I previously thought. The chance for two world's fastest coasters to open is good, and I hope the one in the UAE has a better layout than TTD or KK. The Vekoma Big Air is a coaster that I never expected to see built, and I'm interested to see what it will be like when it opens.
  3. At first I thought that the purple was a primer for some reason, but it now sounds like purple is the new track color. If purple is the final color, it is not like the coaster will look bad, it just wasn't expected.
  4. My 2008 season wasn't as good as it looked like it would be at the start of the season, but there is always 2009. 1. My coaster count exceed 50 credits when I rode Dark Knight on its opening day. 2. My first GCI coaster was the two week old Evel Knievel. 3. I was finally able to ride Greezed Lightning, which was my first shuttle loop coaster.
  5. Here is something interesting that I found on RCDB about Little Amerricka wanting to build a replica of the Lincoln Park Comet. RCDB
  6. ^^It would be smart to wait until chapter 7 if that happens, but as was seen with the report, the chain can turn a profit. In a moment of writing without thinking, I also forgot that they would assume the debt load if Blackstone bought out the chain. I'm not in denial about the possibility of selling parks, and I wouldn't mind seeing SFKK or SFA being sold. It is just that the other parks in the chain are fairly successful for the most part, and I think Six Flags would want to hold on to them.
  7. You do realize that most of the parks left, are the ones that make, or have the potential to make, a lot of money. The parks that have been sold were weak properties that were not worth keeping. You do also realize that every time Six Flags has sold a park that they wave taken a huge loss. The parks sold to PARC were sold for 40 million each, and SFWoA was sold at a huge loss. SFKK and SFA are the only parks in the chain that would probably be sold if parks do end up being sold, but Six Flags better get a good amount for them if they are sold. Well, investors did not like the news as Six Flags stock price fell to around 28 cents. If they do not declare bankruptcy soon, I believe Six Flags will be bought out by a company like Blackstone, Candover, or Dubai World, and I believe the chain will stay intact for the most part given the profit to revenue ratio the chain has.
  8. Good for Six Flags Mexico, and hopefully they don't make the same mistakes with advertising like what happened with SFGAM/SFGADV. Dark Knight is a fun coaster, and it should make a nice addition to Six Flags Mexico.
  9. Jesus of Suburbia - Green Day
  10. ^Height is different than drop. Now, I wasn't there, but going by what you said, he was right. Oblivion is 65 feet tall, so three times sixty-five would be 195 feet. Sheikra is 200 feet tall, so Sheikra is just about three times the height of Oblivion. At Great America Saturday, these teenagers were asking a worker what happened to Deja vu. While that is not dumb, it is that they seemed to think that it was somewhere else in the park. They kept looking at the park map, and asking more questions, and they didn't seem to understand that the coaster was not at the park anymore.
  11. The last coaster I rode was a cold, but fun, ride on Dark Knight yesterday. While the coaster is indoors, it is just a giant shed, so it still gets cold inside when it is 45 outside. I would have ridden Bull again as my last ride of the season, but by then, it was too cold for me.
  12. 6/10 - the questions were either really easy or really hard imo.
  13. I rode the Dark Knight two more times yesterday, and it seems like the teenagers riding it had ridden it before. I head them saying it wasn't good, but it was still fun. The people I rode with on the second time really seemed to like how much fun the coaster was. I also noticed that the beginning of the pre-show was longer, and there seemed to be more added when the feed was hijacked. Also, families still seem to think the ride has a two hour line since the line goes out of the building despite all of the cutbacks closed off. The actual line was just half of the cutbacks outside of the theater, and then the line just went towards the pre-show room. The actual wait was probably no more than 30-45 minutes if that.
  14. I didn't have a reason to vote for either, so sorry Wes, you got my vote by chance.
  15. ^Even if they are harmless, I still would never want one around me. While I'm not scared of most spiders, I'd run if I saw one of those in my home. As for the spider eating the bird, I didn't think it was real when I saw it on the Fox News website a few days ago, and knowing that it is real, it is amazing(and scary) that spiders can be that big.
  16. I waited about an hour to an hour and a half for Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis in 2005. The ride broke down when I was near the station, but the ride ops never announced that the ride was closed to those not in the station. Those in the station were gone, but those in line were left clueless. Eventually those in line realized what was going on and they left through the chicken/emergency exits. Keep in mind that Mr. Freeze dispatches slowly, so there was nothing unusual about waiting several minutes for a launch, but it was only when no launch was heard for at least an hour that people realized how long they had been waiting. The one good thing about waiting was that the queue was air conditioned, and it was hot out if I remember correctly.
  17. I still don't get why people are upset that it is a wild mouse. It is not supposed to be an El Toro in a box like it seems people expected. It is a ride for families, and for the most part, most families seem to like it when they get off. Now, the ride is by no means worth a 2 hour wait, but the line should be shorter next year when they know it is just a simple family ride. One thing that confuses me is that most of the enthusiasts here seemed excited for this coaster, but now that it is open, they act surprised to find out it is a family style coaster. What the hell happened between then and now? I personally like the ride as it is just fun to ride. I don't plan to wait two hours for it again, but I'll still ride it if it has say a 30 minute wait. It is not a great coaster, but it accomplishes what it was supposed to do.
  18. That is too bad, but like Elissa said, the park while nice, was not up to the quality of other Herschend parks. The coasters looked nice, but I doubt Silver Dollar City will get Ozark Wildcat as the terrain would be an issue. I think a more likely place for it to get relocated to would be Wild Adventures. Hopefully the rides can find new homes instead of just being scrapped.
  19. ^Six Flags will announce the new name, if there is one, and more information on the new theme in the spring.
  20. Tough choice, but sorry mcjaco, your a Cubs fan, so you still get my vote.
  21. ^^That is probably one of the coolest names for a coaster. This coaster looks really nice, for a SLC anyways, and it is amazing how a it seems to have made the park so well known.(well here anyways.) Hopefully the park can continue to expand and do well, because it looks like a really nice place to spend a day.
  22. Elissa, Screamscape said that Hurricane Harbor might get a new slide next year, so this might not be the only thing coming next year. It is great that Six Flags is doing these ride makeovers, and it shows they won't just let them rust away. I like how it says it is a popular ride, when from what I know, it has had little to no line the past few years. Because of that, a makeover like this is just what the ride needs to get people riding it again. These "new" rides are a cheap way to possibly increase attendance without breaking the bank. If it gets a new name, I'm guessing it will be Goliath. I wonder if something like this will happen to Iron Wolf at Six Flags Great America soon, because it has been rumored for the past few years that it will get new trains from B&M and a new paint job.
  23. Wow, this looks a lot better than the Evel Knivel clone I was expecting, and with how good Evel Knivel is, this is sure to be the best wooden coaster in all of Southern California, if not the entire state. This coaster looks like a lot of fun to ride, and that should make it a big hit with families. As for teenagers/thrill seekers, I see them disliking the ride because it won't be as big or intense as Goliath or Deja vu. One thing that I am interested to see is how they use the light and sound effects as I don't think it has been done on a wooden coaster before.
