Worlds of Fun Construction - Prowler
Airtime&Gravity replied to Jive's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This looks like it will be a really good ride, and it should be a great addition to the park. I hope it isn't trimmed though, as it looks like there should be some good airtime on all the hills. I'm not saying it will be trimmed, but the trains go over those hills really fast, so I can see some trims to reduce maintenance costs. -

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This ride looks unreal, but it looks like it will be a great water ride. The ride is sure to get a lot of attention for its size and lift as they stand out, especially in a park like Holiday World. This ride will tower over almost everything else, and Voyage is only around 30ft taller for comparison. Even though it will help the ride stand out, I do not like the lift. It just looks out of place with the elevator towering over the forest/farmland. It would look better if it was like the water coaster at Plopsaland where the elevator is hidden in the theming, but something like that would be impractical with a ride of this size. -
Brazilian SLC Construction
Airtime&Gravity replied to LuccasCBMR's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It amazes me at how this park has been transformed in the last few years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was only two or three years ago when the only coaster was an old Arrow or Vekoma. The coaster and park looked pretty run down, and I didn't see a future to the park. Now, a few new coasters have been added, the park looks nicely landscaped, and the park appears to have some nice themed areas. As for the coaster, even though it is just a SLC, it looks like one of the nicest ones around. I'm interested to see if they add some nice landscaping and theming like has happened to the rest of the park. -
PETA trying to buy Seaworld
Airtime&Gravity replied to bspellx5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well, PETA would call Sea World animal cruelty because they contain animals for entertainment. Although this is just a publicity stunt, I don't see how it will help them, and they even want InBev to retire the Clydesdales. -
Your Favorite at SFGAdv
Airtime&Gravity replied to Rousfv's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
El Toro is easily the best coaster at the park in my opinion, and probably one of the best in the world. The airtime is just unbelievable, and the drop is one of the best on any coaster I've ridden. Nitro is also good, but just nowhere near El Toro. -
I don't remember if I went through 2007 earlier, but I can now add Dark Knight and Evel Kneviel to my list. My current list: Hades Tony Hawk's Big Spin Dark Knight(home park though) Evel Knivel There might be a few more, but I'm not sure. A good percentage of the coasters I've ridden were built either one or two years before I rode them though. I just have bad luck when it comes to visiting parks when they open a new coaster.

Unexpected Queues
Airtime&Gravity replied to jason10's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've had a few lately: Viper has had a short wait lately, so that is a good thing as the line is usually long. American Eagle had a one hour wait, which is the longest I've seen it in a few years. El Toro had a 15 minute wait the first time I rode it. The second time I rode it, it was a walk on. Kingda Ka was a walk on for row two both times I rode it. Nitro was a walk on when I rode it. Medusa was a walk on when I rode it. Oh, and while that is all I did at SFGADV, I did it in only two hours. I had only heard horror stories about the lines at SFGADV, so the lines were a big surprise. -
Coach accident in alton village.
Airtime&Gravity replied to eggzter's topic in Random, Random, Random
I assume it was a coach bus, and the accident was in Alton, not at Alton Towers. -
You do know that Silver Dollar City is not meant to be a ride park right? The shops, shows, and exhibits are what most people go there for, and the rides are just there to give people more things to do. Yes, the rides are the main reason some people go, but the other attractions still take center stage. I have to agree with what someone said on the first page, that you can't go to SDC just for the credits. I've never been to SDC, but it seems like SFSTL with a lot of historic exhibits, and if you go to these parks just for the major rides, you're going to miss most of the experience. Edit: ^Dollywood is the same thing,

New park China, Happy Valley Chengdu
Airtime&Gravity replied to RonLaan's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
It is great that another Happy Valley is opening, but I think the price is low. One hundred million dollars is low for almost a major new park, and it is very low for a park as well themed as the Happy Valley parks. -
I highly doubt Holiday World will get a dive machine. If it is a new coaster, then I'm going to guess it will be a euro-fighter as a large coaster from B&M or Intamin would not make financial sense for a family owned park like Holiday World. I still think that this ride will be a flat ride like a ferris wheel or Huss Frisbee.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Airtime&Gravity replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At SFGAM today: A teenage girl looks at Giant Drop as the cars are falling and says: "Oh my God, Giant Drop just broke!" She was serious when she said this (there was even fear in her voice), so her friends had to explain the ride to her. -
Good Coaster, Bad Park
Airtime&Gravity replied to coasterstud522's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't think Beech Bend can be beat, but I've never been to the park, so I can't "officially" say it. Mt. Olympus- Cyclops and Hades Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom-Chang, Twisted Twins, and Thunder Run -
Ah, poutine, (aka heart attack in a bowl) so good, yet so unhealthy. La Ronde used to be a park that I wanted to go to, yet all the trip reports I've seen of it make it look like the Mt. Olympus of the Six Flags chain. Also, while this may just be me, does anyone else think La Ronde looks like a run down cedar point stuck in the 70s or 80s? While I'd visit the park if I was ever in Montreal, it would probably be for the fireworks(possibly some of the best you'll see), and not the rides. Although, I would make sure to ride Goliath and Vampire as the rest of the rides look pretty painful.

Gum Walls
Airtime&Gravity replied to Coasterfanatic245's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The supports on Superman: Ultimate Flight at Great America are covered in gum, although nowhere near other "gum walls". The queue of either Screamin Eagle or Boss at Six Flags St. Louis was also pretty bad if I remember correctly. I think American Eagle's queue used to be really bad, but it is clean now. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Island already gets more people than Cedar Point. Kings Island is the second most popular seasonal park in North America(Canada's Wonderland is first), and Cedar Point's place depends on how Knott's and Six Flags Great Adventure do. I still don't see why people are upset with this coaster. It is a lot like a modified Nitro, and since Nitro is a really good coaster,(at least with the trims off like when I rode it) there should be little reason to like this. Those complaining should be happy that Kings Island is building a truly great coaster, and if you don't like it, then don't ride it. Edit: fixed, and thanks. I knew that, just couldn't type my thoughts. -
Extreme Terror Rides
Airtime&Gravity replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was an okay show, not the worst, but not anywhere near Modern Marvels: Disney World(my favorite). With the exception of the Firehawk segment, it wasn't that annoying, but I had to go watch something else as the guy doing the commentary while riding was so annoying. Why is everyone upset with saying an "old" ride is unique? The show was made for the general public, and they don't know that a ride has been relocated or is from an eight year old design. I'd still say Firehawk is unique in that flying coasters are still relatively new and uncommon. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even though it isn't the Phantom's Revenge/ Behemoth type coaster that many seemed to expect, this still looks like a really good coaster. Like has been said above, it has a lot of similarities to Nitro, but that isn't a bad thing, as Nitro is still a really good coaster. I really like how this coaster will have one 200+ft drop, and one nearly 200ft drop, as the only other coaster like that to y knowledge is Steel Dragon. This coaster has the potential for a lot of airtime, and I hope it isn't over trimmed like Raging Bull usually is. The only thing I don't really like is the theming on the train. A B&M train just looks strange themed to a snake. Edit: What is with the splashdown/water spray effect coming off of the train if there is no midway to soak guests on near the "lake"?
