  1. Those Flash Pass prices are cheap, especially when it is $53($72 during FF) for a Gold at Great America. Terminator is looking great, and hopefully it runs as well as EK at SFSTL, but hopefully it doesn't suck after a few years like other So. Cal coasters. The part of the ride that I'm interested in the most is how they work the special effects, and hopefully the theming is better than what is on Big Spin and EK.
  2. What is also cool is how this is a pretty new facility (opened in 05 I think the site said), and it is nice how the owners are putting a new twist on the drive-in theater. Some of the rides look a little unsafe though, but at least they give the patrons something else to do.
  3. Apparently the locals who live near the park didn't notice it when they chose to live next to it. Click I hate stupid people
  4. ^The Wisconsin Dells is a tourist trap resort area that serves the Midwest (mainly the Chicago/Twin cities area), and even though it is cheesy and overpriced, it is still a fun place to visit. (it's the only thing Wisconsin has going for it) That is good news that the park will work on the old free fall ride since so many of them have been removed recently.

  6. ^or those who go to Alton Towers could argue that the noise from the Ropers' pottery factory is making it difficult to enjoy your day at the park. Do to them what they do to Alton Towers. Another thing that might work is to show up at a town meeting and say to the locals that "unless you lived in Alton before the park opened, then don't complain." I'm sure that the coaster will still get built though because: 1. it will be away from the historic building that locals said would be destroyed 2. the ride will probably be filled with sand reducing noise 3. few trees will supposedly be removed 4. if I remember correctly, the local government is starting to realize that the locals will do whatever it takes to get the park closed(most recent time Ropers complained about noise) 5. won't the ride will be smaller height wise than corkscrew
  7. Punk Rock 101 - Bowling for Soup
  8. So this coaster is going to be built at/themed to a McDonalds? Let the name guessing begin.
  9. Link Yeah it's Fox News, but it is still news. The one good thing is that it sounds like the lawsuit is money for medical expenses instead of pain and suffering. While I doubt it was Disney's fault, I am happy to see that they aren't being greedy, and the only part that is bs to me is that there weren't enough warnings or adequate restraints.

  11. If the buyer is Russian like rumored, then I'm guessing it is Roman Abramovich as well, it just seems like something he would do. This is great news for the park, and hopefully the new owners will run it properly. Even without the Hard Rock name, the park can be a success if properly run. If ticket prices are lowered and the park advertises/ does promotion deals, then it might last. A few new rides might also be needed, but those will have to wait until 2010 at the earliest, but the park can probably add some new shows and festivals for 2009.
  12. ^So do we all have to go over to RCPro? I'm totally lost on where this thread has gone, so to bring it back...Aquatrax! Obviously this is for Six Flags Great America because...well, because I said it is. Just wait, it is going to be the 500 foot tall coaster that the Onion said was going to Iran. Sadly, according to the the Dippin' Dots guy, this new coaster will replace Raging Bull and Viper. The story on Buccaneer Battle was just to throw us off. In all seriousness though, I believe that this coaster is going to a park in China, and I'd be surprised if it ended up somewhere else other than Asia. Although, I can dream that it will end up at SFGAM, but I'll take the rumored dive machine over a B&M sit-down any day.
  13. No, I have not been to any of the parks. I based my comments off of what had been said by Elissa and Packfanlv, but the comments by them that I remembered were for the Beijing park. If the rest of the parks in the chain are better, then I apologize for the generalization. The cheap comment was from the report that said that the park would cost $100 million. When released, I thought that it was low, but Packfanlv said the parks were cheaply built, so I figured that they all were. I still think the $100 million price was low. I think the parks look great too, and besides the poor ride operations, they seem like really good parks. I was surprised when I read about them being cheap, because all of the photos that I'd seen didn't make it appear that way. The Mt. Olympus comment was about the cheap worn theming that Packfanlv said about the Beijing park. I did not try to say the theming of Happy Valley and Mt. Olympus was the same, because Happy Valley has superior theming to most U.S. parks. (especially Mt. Olympus) I based my comments off of: Packfanlv: Elissa: I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!! I was the only one, but something felt SO wrong with that place. Totally trying to be something amazing, but something was just horribly wrong!
  14. The Geeks Get the Girls - American Hi-Fi
  15. ^I tried to edit my post to reflect that, but I was trying to say it in too many words so I gave up. The cheap way the Happy Valley parks are built reminds me of Mt. Olympus as the theming starts to deteriorate quickly. Sure the theming might look great the first year or from a distance, but it just looks bad after a while/when you get up close.
  16. 1. The Happy Valley parks are held by China International Tourism Hlds, Ltd. (OTC) From Google Finance: http://finance.google.com/finance?q=OTC:CIHS 2. The Happy Valley parks are supposedly built cheaply. 3. Why can't they do a good job theming the rides? The have the money, so they might as well make the parks look nice even if the theming looks bad in a few years. (Happy Valley Beijing)
  17. ^ 1. Concrete...lots of concrete 2. Mediocre coasters (for the most part) 3. Trash cans...lots of trash cans 4. Demolish anything that provides the slightest bit of atmosphere A large hyper for Carowinds will be great for the park, and it is nice that Cedar Fair is putting some capital into improving it since it seemed like it was forgotten by Paramount. I hope though that the hyper is one of the smaller ones though (like Apollo's Chariot), so that it doesn't completely overwhelm the park's skyline like Diamondback. I've never been to the park, but if it does overwhelm the area, then I'm sure the atmosphere will probably be killed. (it is CF though)

  19. I read somewhere, Negative-G.com I think, that when Wild Thing opened, the second hill was "the longest low gravity section of any coaster in the world." I doubt it holds the record any more though, but Negative-G said that Valleyfair was still saying the record still stood (I think this was from a 2007 update).
  20. ^^^except that the Batman: the Escape coaster was built by Intamin and not B&M. Also, how did this topic reach 40 pages of it's for SFA/AT/CW? It seems like a lot of rumors being reported as fact. Edit: beaten to it, why did it take me so long to write this little post?
  21. I doubt that the track is for any American park. I would like to see Australia build a B&M (and I hope they do soon), but I doubt that this track will end up there. My guess is that it is for a park in China as there has been a massive theme park boom there the past few years.
  22. Fixed I've been surprised with how this ride has turned out, and it looks like it will be a lot better than I originally thought. The way the coaster dominates the park's skyline, and it is kind of amazing to see how one coaster can change a park's skyline that already one of the world's largest.
  23. ^The new Comet would be built from scratch, one reason why only the trains were bought I believe, so it will be similar to Twister at Knoebels in that it will be a replica of the original built in-house.
