Isn't this coaster supposed to be somewhat family friendly? I thought that was the reasoning behind there not being any inversions, and with the elements this ride has, that might be the reason behind all of the brakes. The theming this ride has should be cool, but the ride looks like it will be pretty average in terms of thrills. The first half should be good, but then the ride doesn't seem to do much as it goes back to the station. For enthusiasts, the coaster will probably not be ranked very high, but the GP should love this coaster.

I thought that Twisted Twins was a fun but average coaster. I think one reason I like it is because, even with the g-trains, the ride was pretty smooth, and I didn't get the crap beaten out of me like I expected. The coaster is still average though, and it's a shame really, because the layout could be so much better with the amount of land it uses. Kentucky Kingdom is a nice park though, but it is probably the worst of the three down there(HW, KI, SFKK). I haven't been to the other three, so I'm just going by ride selection(KI, HW) and service(HW). The coasters are alright, but they didn't seem to be running as well in 2008 as they did in 2006. Unlike the fun relatively smooth ride it was when I rode in 2006, T2 beat me up, and Chang was also rougher, although nothing too bad. The lack of shade can be a problem, and it was in 2008 when it was probably around 90 when I went. The service was okay though. The employees weren't rude, but one train operation wasn't good. The lines weren't long when I went, but one train operation made the wait time long. Oh well, Kentucky Kingdom is inexpensive compared to Great America, and there is always Greezed Lightning, so I would still go again.

Questionable Top 10 Coaster List
Airtime&Gravity replied to PhillyGirl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thee book seems to go with the mentality that bigger is better. Those that didn't set a record are pretty famous which also probably factored into the poll. I wouldn't say that it is a bad top 10, but it seems more like a member of the general public's top 10 which would be bad for what seems to be a book for enthusiasts. I could see why the coasters in the top 10 are there, and the only choice that makes no sense is Son of Beast. Edit: Like Wes pointed out, it's a kid's book, so who really cares? -

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Tobias94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^The Star Flyer would be 328ft tall. Hopefully this does get built as it will be great for the park. However, I'm sure locals will complain about the noise, but with a 2012-2013 opening date, hopefully things will be sorted out. I assume the glass walls are to help reduce noise levels, so hopefully those help with getting permission. It is amazing how Gröna Lund manages to fit all the rides they have into such a small area. Tivoli Gardens is also really small, and if the expansion will only make Gröna Lund half of Tivoli's size, then that shows how creative ride designers are when creating rides for the park. -

Nürburgring launched coaster
Airtime&Gravity replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Plus if you don't think it will be fun, then don't ride it. I'm confused though, I thought that the course would consist of just some turns, but the video showed a twisted knot of track at the end of the launch. Is that really how the ride will be, or was it just more of a shock value? -
Wow, this is great, and surprising. I knew something called TPR TV was in the works, but I thought that it was just going to be a way to host videos in your posts(like with photos). I never expected a whole new feature to be added to the site, so this was a surprise for me. I noticed one problem that when I searched "Mt. Olympus", that the same video was posted four times. I don't know what can be done to prevent that, but I'm sure something can be done to prevent it from happening. I've also had some buffering problems.

PTR: West Edmonton Mall - Galaxyland
Airtime&Gravity replied to Sparebear75's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Ghetto probably wasn't the correct word to describe my thoughts. It is just that major indoor parks that I've seen whether in person or through pictures have all looked to be pretty nice. Now, Knuckleheads isn't major, but it still kicks @$$ for what it is. It is just that Galaxyland just looks bad to me with the concrete and steel everywhere, and it just seems so cavernous for the most part. Galaxyland looks like it has a lot of fun rides, but it is just that the setting of the park is bad in my opinion. The entrance looked nice, and it would be great for the park if it was themed as good as the entrance. However, I would still go to Galaxyland if I was in the area for Mindbender though. -
Are you seeing this?

It is working for me, but I got a "could not connect" when I went to page two of this thread. However, after hitting refresh it worked like it should. -
^Magic Mountain has a ton of thrill coasters, and they could probably use another family coaster. I would call Terminator a thrilling family coaster just like Viper(SFGAM) or Evel Knivel. Terminator will be able to be enjoyed by all and not just thrill seekers. Also, the building of so many thrill rides is one reason that Six Flags is in the financial mess that it is. Even though a family coaster will be good for the park, SFMM needs more flat rides such as a disk-o, dark ride, sky swat, screamin swing, tilt-a-whirl. Maybe after they build up the family flat ride selection they will be able to add a drop tower.

Is it just me, or does Galaxyland look ghetto? Maybe it is just me, but other indoor parks like Toverland, Adventure Dome, Nickelodeon Universe/Camp Snoopy, and even Kunckleheads are nicer than Galaxyland. I know the park is older than the four parks I mentioned, but the park is so crowed yet cavernous at the same time. The water park looks nice though, and the park might no look as bad as it does if it was built under a giant glass roof like the water park. -
I think that SFMM's next coaster will be a family one. I could see a really good spinning coaster like Dragon's Fury (Big Spin is okay, but the Maurer Söhne coasters are better), or the rumored west coast El Loco. Either one would be good for SFMM, and the park would be able to continue becoming family friendly. If they have the money, maybe they could toss in a few flat rides too.

^Weren't the restraints on G-Force at Drayton Manor bad, or was the ride just boring? I remember the UK trip participants not enjoying the ride, and I thought the restraints were a reason why. I know that other x-car coasters are pretty good, but G-Force seems to have given the x-car a bad name. Also, like Hercules said, the launch capability of the cars seems to hint that Gravity Group is possibly working on a launched wooden coaster.
