Mirabilandia Discussion Thread

Volcano and the impulse coasters use LIMs not LSMs, so this will be one of the few Intamin coasters to use LSMs. -

I voted for the Cubs fan since...well...do I really need a reason other than that? -
There is a new show on Discovery Channel called Engineering Thrills. It only features four rides, but it goes in depth in to how the ride was made and the technical aspects. The rides featured are Fahrenheit, Niagara's Fury, X2, and Toy Story Mania. The show premiered at 8 P.M. EST, but you can watch it again at midnight tonight, at 8 P.M. on the 25th or at midnight on the 26. So far, the show is pretty good, and it is nice to see a show that seems to have been made just for enthusiasts. The Niagara's Fury took up a large part, probably close to 30 minutes, but they went more in depth from how it went from concept to being a working ride. Discovery

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Airtime&Gravity replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well it was designed to look like a wooden roller coaster, and maybe the person thinks that because it "has" a wooden structure, it means that it is a wooden coaster. At fright fest, this group of teenagers standing in front of Iron Wolf got confused because the coaster they wanted to ride was called Iron Wolf on the map, and yet the ride they saw was called Predator. The same thing happened with a different group in front of American Eagle/Black Widow. -
No it isn't the Kanonen clone as previously rumored, but Bakken has announced that they will build a new Intamin spinning coaster for the 2009 season. All that is known so far is that it will be 33ft tall and 984ft long. I assume that this will be one of their twist and turn coasters as I don't think Intamin has any other spinning coaster designs unless this will be a new ride design. It won't be big, but it should still be a fun little ride. RCDB

Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Skara Sommarland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. TPR Index Page Official Park Website 2008 October 15th, 2008 - S&S Free Fly coaster coming to Sweden - SEE BELOW! 2009 May 26th, 2009 - Tranan to open in four days June 2nd, 2009 - Seat belts come undone during ride on Tranan 2011 April 13th, 2011 - Skara Sommarland announces expansion 2013 March 5th, 2013 - Park to add a "trap door" water slide 2014 March 19th, 2014 - Park announces new ProSlidewater slide 2018 August 29th, 2018 - Cobra: A polin water slide announced for 2014 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post You all remember that strange coaster concept that S&S came up with called Eagle Coaster right? You know, the one that you knew no park would ever build. Well, Skara Sommarland in Sweden is actually building one for 2009. The coaster will be called Tranan, and it will be over 65ft tall, 1640ft long, and have a top speed of near 25mph. RCDB Link If you don't remember the ride, is a youtube link to the annimation.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Airtime&Gravity replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A trim-less ride on Raging Bull on opening day at Fright Fest. Has anyone else noticed that the trims on Bull haven't been on hard if at all this year, or am I just lucky? I've only had one ride where they were on as hard as they were last year, but they haven't been on hard if at all on my other rides. -
Nice to see that these zac-spins are starting to be successful, and hopefully some of the larger version that Intamin designed open up too. I'm just amazed that Grona Lund only has to remove a swinging ship to make room since the park was already filled with rides. I don't know what the ride experience is like, but this looks like it will be a good addition to the park.

Flamingo Land Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks like the Vekoma wooden coaster will have to wait as Flamingoland is building a S&S El Loco for next year. Hopefully it turns out as well as Steel Hawg, but it seems out of place with how Flamingoland has transformed in recent years. It should still be a fun ride though, but with their two newest coasters from Vekoma, I was expecting there next coaster to be something more than a compact S&S coaster. RCDB Link Edit: Maybe a reason for a small S&S coaster as opposed to the Vekoma wooden coaster is because of the horrible shape the economy is in. -
^I thought of that, but there are parks with more than the 13 to 16 I plan for this park. I never intended for this park to be 100 percent realistic as this park will probably rival Cedar Point/ 1999 SFGADV for number of flat rides. This park is just me trying to have fun building a large park, but still trying to be somewhat realistic.

Walibi Belgium Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was wondering when this would happen due to all of the difficulties it has had. The ride itself looked like a family ride that wanted to be a thrill ride. It was really tall, but it didn't do much, and it didn't go very fast for a ride of its height. It has the speed and intensity of a family ride, but the height probably kept them away in the short time it was open. -
[RCT2] Duffy's Lake
Airtime&Gravity replied to zburns999's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Looks good so far, and after how your Paramount Park turned out, I expect that this will be another great park. I'm not a fan of the hacks though as it makes it more difficult to play if you don't have the hacks(Paramount Xtreme keeps crashing on me), but I still like where this park is going. Does Hammerhead really work? -

^Cubs fans are miserable at the moment, so might as well go after him next. You know, just because he...um... lasted long enough, and not to add to his misery because it would be cruel to do so for a reason like that. -
It is a nice start so far, but like others have said, there are way to many flowers. You also have flowers where it will be impossible for them to get watered,(antique cars) and it seems like there are too many clock towers. This park has a lot of potential, but in order for it to turn out nice, you might have to rebuild some areas. If you just take your time and work slowly, it will work out.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's about time as Corkscrew seemed out of place with what Alton Towers had become. The site doesn't seem that big, so I doubt a major thrill ride will replace it, and it will probably be replaced with a family attraction such as a splash battle. -
All three videos are viewable This was on Firefox The first video keeps having to load every 5-10 seconds. The third one takes about 10 seconds before it starts to play too. TPR TV sounds cool, but still a little confusing. Is it just something to help with organization, a new way to put videos in a thread, or something different?
