Heading to SFStL this Saturday...
Airtime&Gravity replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I go to SFSTL every year, and the lines have never been very long even on July 4. Ride Mr. Freeze first since it has the longest line and slow operations. If you want, double back to EK and work your way around. Head up and ride Big Spin since the line is slow moving. Ride Boss and Eagle while in the area. Go towards Ninja, and River King, and then B:TR. Finish your day by riding EK. Can't say this year, but it ran okay last year, but a little rougher than 06, and 07. (don't remember 05) I don't know how much lockers are, but if possible, I'd leave the sweatshirt in a car. If you must rent a locker, it should take cash (if it's like SFGAM). As for the price, I can't say, but SFSTL is fairly cheap when compared to SFGAM. The food is typical, and I thought it was fairly cheap. However, this is because SFGAM is a more expensive park to visit, but the food is still probably cheaper than Kings Island. It is probably as expensive as or even a little cheaper than Kentucky Kingdom. Evel Knievel is the best ride in the park, and Mr. Freeze is really good too. Big Spin is fun, and the rest of the rides are decent, but not much to go out of the way for. The log flume is really good IMO. While a little expensive, I'd recommend staying at a Drury Inn. The hotel rooms are nice, they have pools, a good breakfast, and they provide free snacks and drinks (soft drinks, alcoholic (limit 3 a day), and nonalcoholic) in the afternoon. The park is set in a forest, and there are many gardens and other touches that make it a beautiful park to visit. -
Favorite Photos YOU Have Taken

Here are some of mine: For some reason, most of my 2008 photos didn't turn out too well. 2007 2007 2006 - Avalanche 2006 2006 2007 2007 2008 2007 -
^Kiddieland was already in danger even before the economy tanked. I remember back in 2004 hearing that 2009 might be the final season due to a dispute between the family that owns the park. It would be a shame since it is the only other park in the state, and it is a nice place for locals to bring their kids who are too young for Six Flags Great America. I think some of the owners wanted to sell the land to developers, but with the housing market dead, the park might actually survive past this season.

Sadly, I'm really concerned about Timber Falls. The park is never crowded, and the last time I was there, the owners were talking about how Mt. Olympus has seriously hurt their attendance since 2005. Sadly, the GP won't stop at a park with a really good small coaster when a park with many large coasters is located practically across the street.

Meisho isn't a Chinese knock off caster company. They are from Japan, have been around since the 60s so it is well established, and they have worked with various other coaster companies as builders and contractors. I believe there was/is some relation to Vekoma, but I don't remember what that relation is. The park looks nice, but like has been said before, it needs a lot of shade. Hopefully it is successful, and if the park expands in to the available land, this could become a fairly good park.

^The Bible also says it's a sin to eat pork and shellfish, wear clothing made from blends, and have two types of crops in a field. Keep in mind that the verses that condemn what I just said are close to where the Bible condemns homosexuality. However, those who condemn homosexuality say that the other "laws" were meant for a different time, but that the "law" on homosexuality is still valid. Now, I'm straight, and I support gay marriage. If it will allow gay marriage, then I support those who want to replace marriage with civil union. There will still be marriage in religion, but homosexual couples will be able to receive the same benefits that straight couples can.

I looked into it, and from what I understand, this will not be a Six Flags VMK. From what I now understand, it seems to be a Second Life type game for children, and it seems like this will just be an extensive marketing deal for the game. I thought the news was more important when I posted it, but it is just another promotion.

^I doubt Six Flags will buy anything from Intamin, let alone a drop tower, after the Kentucky Kingdom accident. Of course a screamin swing, S&S tower, or a dark ride would be good for the park. I think Magic Mountain should continue fixing up the park's service and quality before another new coaster is added. A tilt-a-whirl would be good too.

Big Spin would be great for Magic Mountain, and even if you don't like spinning rides (like me), you can still have a lot of fun if the weight is properly distributed. Big Spin is probably my favorite family coaster. I seem to remember Six Flags counting X2 as one of the new 2008 coasters, so maybe SFMM will only receive another ride renovation. Maybe Scream will receive the same treatment that Medusa is getting this year.

The ride looks really good, but the restraints are probably going to keep the ride from being the family friendly coaster that it seemed like it would be when construction started. Maybe the reasons for OTSRs is because lap bars would be too close to the designs of Vekoma and Gerstlauer. I'm not sure how, but I can't think of another reason. At least the OTSRs don't appear to be as bad as those on Intamin's other new coasters.

Just a small complaint, but would it be possible to center the banner? It just looks a little odd with the small space on the right but a large space on the left. I was having trouble with videos loading, but I haven't encountered the problem lately, so keep up the good work in fixing the site. -

^Even worse, adjusted for inflation, that's just $28.20 today. If only it was still that cheap. Looking at these old brochures, it is sad how quality has gone down. American parks actually had a sense of quality, but that has sadly been replaced by quantity and profitability. -
Woman sues Magic Springs
Airtime&Gravity replied to kidcoaster 2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^, ^^ , the photo is from the second Where in the World are Robb and Elissa thread. Sadly, lawsuits like these seem unavoidable in today's economy as people need/want money, so they turn to lawsuits because of their stupidity(not that lawsuits before this weren't pointless). While there is the slight possibility that it was the park's fault, it is most likely that much of the blame is with the woman. There might have been a loose screw, but I'm sure it was the woman leaning back on the bench which caused it to fail. -

I'm going to guess the woman was overweight, leaned back on the bench, and thus caused the bench to fail. Like stated earlier, the only way this woman will have a case is if there is proof that the park management failed to maintain the benches, but her excuse that the park management should have told her the bench's condition is idiotic. G force records
Airtime&Gravity replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^You beat me to it, as I was posting/researching. Tower of Terror at Gold Reef City has a g-force of 6.3 Gs which I think is the highest on any operating coaster. Here is a POV of Tower of Terror, and the layout is a lot like Oblivion. -

The new station looks nice, but the old station idea was really cool. Had the park gone with that, it would have probably been better than Top Thrill Dragster's amazing station. The second top hat though looks a little odd, but it's probably because it has never been done before. However, it might look better when finished, and going by the current theming on the station, this ride will look really cool.

GCI also retracked Boss and Screamin Eagle at SFSTL. Boss ran a little better, and Screamin Eagle ran about the same. Boss could be a great coaster, but the g-trains ruin it. Even though it has received a lot of work over the years, American Eagle could use some work from GCI. It is rough, not in a painful way though, and the whole structure seems like it will fall apart. Of course, if American Eagle ever received major structural work, I would love to see it receive some new trains.
