I rank coasters that I've had mixed experiences on by averaging ride experiences, but with a slight emphasis on recent rides. A coaster won't automatically change position on my list of favorites after one ride, but if over the course of consecutive visits, the ride experience is the same, the list will change. This happened with Raging Bull over the 2008 season. Before 2008, Viper was easily my favorite coaster in the park, but Raging Bull ran excellent during the year with the trims off. By the end of the season (10+ visits), Raging Bull had improved enough to become my favorite coaster in the park. However, it only has a slight lead over Viper as my favorite coaster in the park. The only instance where this didn't apply would be T2. I loved it in 2006, but I hated it in 2008. What I assumed with this was that I got lucky in 2006.

^Maybe he is thinking of that Busch Gardens Africa type of park that got cancelled. I think there was a dive machine in the concept art for the proposed park. Other than that, I don't remember a dive machine planned for Australia, but then again, I don't live there, so I could be wrong. -

I'm pretty sure the mystery dive machine track was for a new Happy Valley park (same one with Fireball) in China since they are opening up a new dive machine this year. So unless a park is secretly building a B&M dive machine, this is the park. Coaster (China's tallest): http://www.rcdb.com/id4224.htm Park: http://www.rcdb.com/pd1731.htm -
Texas Inmate Pulls Out Eye, Eats It

Wow, that is really messed up. I'm curious as to why he isn't in a mental institution because I'm sure that if you cut the heart out of the person you just murdered, you are either insane or satanic. Also, if he was ruled sane after if took his first eye out, he'll probably be ruled insane now. Eye guess the Texas...yeah, I don't know where I'm going with this. -
For me, it would have to be Kingda Ka. When I rode it at night (only time I rode it), it was disorienting as there were no clues as to how how long the drop would last. I just kept falling, and falling, spiral, and falling, and falling, and falling. It was a lot of fun, and one of the few coaster moments where I was thinking "What the hell am I doing?". (El Toro was another moment)

^HKDL was only just the park and the hotel(s), but this new park sounds like it will be like DLR without California Adventure.(park, hotel, retail) The retail won't make it a resort, but with a price tag more than double HKDL ( something like 1.5 billion I believe), this should be more like the other Disney properties. This is great news for China, and with a price tag of over three billion dollars, it should be a lot more complete than HKDL. One thing I disliked about HKDL was that many of the classic Disney attractions were missing, so hopefully this new park will be more complete.

^I heard that it would either be removed or get a major refurbishment. With what has been going on with Six Flags lately, I think the second one is more likely. Although Iron Wolf is probably the next coaster to go as there is hardly ever much of a line, and it probably isn't a person's first looping coaster like Demon is. -
For a coaster that has the stats of a kiddy/family coaster, this design looks like a lot of fun. It reminds me of the Tree Topper coaster in that it can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone, and it is nice to see Gravity Group building a family friendly coaster compared to the large thrill coasters that they have previously built. Off topic: If the new Santa's Village is successful, I can see a coaster similar to this open up within a few years.

^You'd need extensive therapy after riding Typhoon too. I can see why there would be skepticism as to wether or not this park will get built, but Grizzly Jacks has been fairly enthusiastic about building this park. As I said before, there has been bad luck with new parks before, but maybe this third attempt at a new park (WWW, HRP, and now SV) will succeed. Hopefully, although unlikely, the economy will be a little better in 2010, and since the location is fairly good and there isn't much competition, the park might draw in some decent sized crowds. I remember reading that Santa's Village used to draw in around 500,000 visitors at its peak in the early 1990s. Hopefully if the new park is as nice as the new owners make it sound like it will be, then hopefully they can get an attendance like that. I'm guessing that Zamperla, Moser and Vekoma will supply the rides that the park opens with, and maybe (hopefully) the park will splurge on a Maurer Söhne spinning coaster. If the new Santa's Village is successful, then maybe Gravity Group or GCI will build a coaster within a few years. If you want to know where the park will be built: http://www.grizzlyjacksresort.com/index.php

While the improvements will be great for the ride, I'm a little disappointed that I will be unable to ride Space Mountain if/when I go to WDW this year. Space Mountain was one of the rides I was looking foreword to riding the most, but now I'l have to wait even longer to finally get the credit. I understand that new effects will be added, but what does the track replacement mean? Will this be an entirely new coaster, or will only the pieces that ned to be replaced be replaced?

^Typhoon was first sold to a fair operator, and it was later sold again. I'm guessing that a park in Indonesia purchased it since a Top Fun Typhoon coaster opened up there earlier this year. I also doubt that the park would purchase Led Zepplin, but, I could see the park buy Eagles or Slippery When Wet. However, I bet the new coasters will come from Vekoma and Zamperla like Wild Adventures and Cypress Gardens.(maybe some of CG's coasters will be purchased) Hopefully the new park gets built, and hopefully it finds success. There has been bad luck with new parks lately, but I could see this park succeed(I also saw HRP succeeding though). Starved Rock (located near where this park will get built) is the state's most popular state park, and if the park doesn't rack up a huge debt by opening day, then the park just might succeed.

Most memorable coaster moment of 2008?
Airtime&Gravity replied to TheHulk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My most memorable 2008 coaster moment would be when I caused my q-bot to crash because I rode Evel Knivel too many times. The people at the flash pass office eventually had to manually add Evel Knivel when I wanted to ride it more. I think I ended getting 15+ rides in the few hours I was there. -
