V2 won't get relocated. Steel Venom was sent to Dorney because Cedar Fair closed Geauga Lake, not because of mechanical reasons. I remember it was closed for a while a year or two ago, but I think that was because the coaster got a severe lightning strike. Using the logic you used, Six Flags will also relocate or sell Kingda Ka. It just isn't going to happen. Also, where did you hear that launched coasters do not last as long as traditional chain lift coasters? Launched coasters are more complicated, but that doesn't mean that they have a shorter life span.

Nick Universe? When it opened as Camp Snoopy, it was under the Knott's name. -
Nürburgring launched coaster
Airtime&Gravity replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, I didn't know it ran in front of the grandstands. Even though it lacks a giant top hat like Top Thrill Dragster or Kingda Ka, this still looks like an impressive ride. The launch should be incredible, and even with the breaking after the launch, and it should still be fun. Plus, the launch track looks really long, so hopefully riders get to experience the speed for a little bit before hitting the breaks. -
Time to hear the rumors again on X-park being paved over. It's good news and bad news, but I'm glad they did it. Since I was a stock holder, I lost my investment, but at least the company will emerge without the massive debt load. It is also good that they do not plan to close any of the parks, not raise prices, and continue what they have been doing the past few years. It is also really good that 2011 will still see all the major additions added.

The drag racing ride has been closed for several years, so it didn't just close with Twisted Twins. Nice photos and trip report. It seems like you have a lot of the same opinions that I do of the park. It doesn't really deserve it's reputation, but if given the chance, most would visit the other parks in the area. Yeah, T2's line moves extremely slowly. When I was there last year, I waited 20-30 minutes with barely going anywhere, the line was just a crowd in the station, before using a flash pass ticket. -
Like mcjaco said, the ride has been re-tracked over the past few years I believe. It is bumpy, but by no means rough (go ride Predator or Zeus for rough). It isn't smooth like Viper, but as far as wooden coasters go, American Eagle runs pretty well. Of course, my lap bar seems always seems to go down a few more clicks when the train bottoms out after the first drop and over the first few hills. Nice trip report though, and I like the ariel photos.

Yeah, for some reason I didn't notice the snow next to the coaster. I saw a dragon coaster and a mountain, and I was in a hurry. -

Great trip report so far, and Hansa Park looks really nice. A lot better than it did in 2005, and Fluch von Novgorod seems like a great coaster even with the theming incomplete. I didn't think there was any theming inside the buildings, and it looks like it should be great when it is all done. -

According to this, where the photo is from, the roof was built to protect guests from the sun and inclement weather. -

Awesome report so far, and looks like you are having a lot of fun over there. Hopefully I'll visit some of these parks someday, but for now, I'm stuck being on the wrong side of these reports. -

Viper, on May 31. Since it was close to closing time, there was no line, and I was able to get multiple rides without leaving my seat. Photo I took earlier that evening -

^I had a lot of trimless rides on Bull last year and a few this year. In fact, I could probably count on one hand how many times the trims have had a significant effect on my rides the past two season. (I've ridden it probably 25+ times in the time frame). It is a great ride when the trims are off, and even when they are on, it is still a good ride. As for Dark Knight, sorry you didn't like it, but I don't think your the target audience with it. You're review was actually the first time I've heard a negative review on the pre-show, and it seemed like you were complaining just to complain IMO. You have to accept it for what it is, a family coaster, and not expect it to be a Raging Bull in a box. -

Is the park still open? From Wikipeia on the mall the park is at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_China_Mall Loos like a nice little indoor park for the most part, but the spinning coaster that's not a credit and the strange shuttle coaster look out of place. They look like they were built in a few days, and only because the park had the room. Nice video though

Is Soak City worth it?
Airtime&Gravity replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's really just okay at best. It has the basics (wave pool, lazy river, tube/body slides, and a raft ride), but there is nothing that makes it unique of stand out from other water parks. If I remember correctly, there isn't much to do, so you probably won't spend much time there. It is still a nice way to cool off, but it can't compare to other water parks at amusement parks like Splashin Safari or SFGAM's Hurricane Harbor. So just tell your friend not to get his hopes up because just because it is at Cedar Point, that doesn't mean that Soak City is a good water park. The water play structure was added in 2004, and other than that, I doubt anything has been added since the 80s. -
